  1. Worth a trip to Tangmere if you like them - they have the world record holding one. It's an interesting museum to look around as well http://www.tangmere-museum.org.uk/museum-aircraft/hawker-hunter-mk3
  2. Don't get put off John - try one before you decide as the smile and the noise makes almost anything bearable. (Even the frequent earbashings from the other half about yet more truck bits all over the lounge and kitchen) Sent from my BlackBerry 9800 using Tapatalk
  3. 12/24Volts makes it a lot easier It looks like they got an award from one of the magazines so it's probably a low risk option - http://www.courtiestown.co.uk/battery-sulphation/
  4. I think we should probably opt for wait-lifting, or how long your significant other will wait next to a broken down vehicle before getting a lift home...
  5. I tried looking, but I just couldn't find any adverts for a MVs in ladies plus sizes
  6. It's worth remembering that the forces were quite selective of drivers for some vehicles by hieght, so if you are tall (or more amply proportionned ) it's more difficult (if not impossible) to drive some MVs. I've not tried a Morris, but it looks like a similar driving position to the Bedford MW which I just couldn't drive safely. A lot depends on the size of the steering wheel and position of the gearsticks/handbrake. In the MW I ended up with my leg trapped between the steering wheel and handbrake. You can see how tight it is here - http://www.penguin-mayhem.net/gallery/BedfordMW/aap Looking at the photo's on this page - http://www.reocities.com/vk3cz/CS8page.html - there's not a lot of room between handbrake/central controls and steering wheel, and both drivers have their knees bent up into that space. You can see better on this one - http://tinyurl.com/c68h5lc (from http://www.wheelsofvictory.com/Morris%20commercial%20c8%20P.html). At least it looks like the Morris' steering wheel is a bit higher to make room for you to bend your legs. In comparison, the WOT has a bit more room, but also has a more roomy layout. See here - http://tinyurl.com/d376rn (from http://www.wheelsofvictory.com/Fordson%20WOT2a.html). The CMP with a 13 cab has *lots* of space - see here http://tinyurl.com/c2qbkkm (from http://www.wheelsofvictory.com/CMP%20HUA.html)
  7. One of the pumps is in Duxford close to the entrance to the D-Day area. There's a photo of it on flickr here-
  8. I vote we should work to European rules, not US.
  9. I think we're missing track-pad throwing as an event. The 100Mtrs Bump start needs weight categories as well. The question is should we weigh in tonnes or tons This may whet your appetite for a tug-of-war type event - Something went wrong... Note that the use of ground anchors is considered cheating....
  10. You can get different desulferation kits to attach to the battery but they use the battery's power so you need to attach a trickle charger at the same time. There's a primer here - http://leadacidbatterydesulfation.yuku.com/topic/379/Battery-and-Pulse-Conditioning-Primer I couldn't find anywhere doing a 6 volt all-in-one unit, and I'm guessing the trailer battery is probably 6 volts if it's one of the metal box ones. There are 6 volt desulferator kits around but when I looked at the more intelligent desulpherators the advice I got was that it was just as well to pop two batteries together and make 12 volts.
  11. Have you tried using a desulpherator to revive the battery? It would be nice to get it running again without drastic works.
  12. In this photo (sorry I can't remember where I found it, but it was probably on MLU) you can see a CGT or FGT with what looks like the canvas folded forward and no bars poking up into a ridge. Edit: Here's the source - it's one of Hanno's photos. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showpost.php?p=79927&postcount=199
  13. There are a number of different types of Ford Quad, so it may help to be a bit more specific. I take it you mean the beetle-backed ones with the canvas covered sunroof at the top for cooling?
  14. Nice to see another girl on board! Welcome along If you're looking for a group it could be worth asking at the Bentwaters museum - I know there was a crowd of folks there for a meet at one point (there are some photos on the board somewhere). MVT Suffok is close by - http://www.mvt.org.uk/area_pages/suffolk.htm MVT Essex is a bit further, near Chelmsford, though it may be just too far to be easy.
  15. This sounds like it could be a good one. More info here - http://www.tankmuseum.org/ixbin/indexplus?record=ART3521
  16. I've just stumbled on the thread. Re: the above, you should be honest about any issues with the authorities as responsible owners. Don't be idiots. I really hope this lot gets recovered. I remember seeing a modern truck in wartime colours/stencilling in the public camping field on Friday on the way out. If the known modern truck was in Medway for the duration, it may be worth seeing if that was a different one. If I remember right it had a peculiar looking low loader trailer behind it (if I'm remembering right it had some extra metalwork and a wooden rear body close to the hitch). Does this sound like the known one?
  17. Nope, I have a copy here and can't find it either, and there's some comments on facebook saying the same.
  18. It looked so small I didn't consider Unimog, but now you say it, I wonder if it might be. It can't have been much bigger than a jeep, just taller. Edit: Awesome - thanks Shaun!
  19. I have to ask, what are these small german vehicles? They looked ever such good fun.
  20. Yes, during one of the mock battles the announcer mentionned it. (the painting that is, not Jack with a paintbrush )
  21. That's why they moved to limbo-less gun carriages. It stopped a lot of the faffing.
  22. There were some real gems in there. We completely missed that the field existed last time, and this year we just happenned to spot the sign when we stopped to admire some unusual trucks at the pathway through by the river.
  23. We spent yesterday there looking around the main show and had a great time. The place had a really good atmosphere. Compliments to the organisers for keeping it going. The mud was really bad in some places but the show seemed to have evolved around them.
