  1. Travelled to it from East Devon on the Saturday, just for the day to see the Show - well worth the 400 plus miles there and back in the one day to see it. Without doubt, one of the best - if not the very best Traction Engine Rally that I have ever been to. Tony
  2. It would appear you have started on yet another restoration project. Now to find the rest of the bits for the Ford! The line up of work would put this about five years out before a start. Doug No, no, Doug! We are not going to start anything else! The Ford Lamp can be moved on but we are just curious to know what sort of Ford it was used on! Could it have been a Ford Truck of some kind? Tony
  3. Yes, that's right. He was going to make a start on his Dennis (1919) but that has now been put back in the queue. Steve
  4. We went yesterday and had a good day. We found nothing of particular Great War interest but met the owner of the Locomobile lorry who has, unfortunately, had a disaster. He had a big end bolt failure while on the move and has smashed a hole in the crank case and broken a camshaft. Nothing he can't fix, he says, but another job he hadn't planned to do! The bolt shows signs of a long term fatigue failure. Just one of those things I guess. The show was drying out nicely and the ground soft but not sticky so it was quite nice to walk on. There is a nice selection of MVs to see and plenty to keep you amused all day. Have fun! Steve
  5. Insignificant and will make no discernable difference to it! Tony
  6. We are taking four trucks this year which will be a handful. Always training up new volunteer drivers We spent the rest of the day between showers of rain putting up the canvas: So we can have an early start
  7. We have been getting ready for our local show today. Unfortunately we had a Month of rain in 24 hours making everything a little less fun and a great deal more wet. We put up the painted hood bows and fitted the end of the lorry which we had not done before:
  8. The Dennis will be out next weekend, for the first time this year, at the Honiton Hill Rally - Sunday and Monday 26th and 27th August! Tony
  9. Have a look at posting no 1024 dated 2 Sep 2010 on the Dennis thread! Tony
  10. I served part of my National Service in Plymouth in 1960 and we had two Sankey 1/2 ton trailers in our unit. A notice was served from Brigade HQ that there was a fault in the Mk1 Trailers and that they should be taken to the REME LAD for the fault to be rectified - I cannot remember now what the fault was. We were advised that Mk2 Trailers were not effected and that Mk 1 Trailers could be identified by the large crosses pressed into the body work! Tony
  11. That's a fine explanation and thank you for it. The system certainly works for us and is why we are the "Friendly Forum" which is what Jack always intended it to be. Tony
  12. So what is the definition of a "Moderator! - and what is the "Job Description"?
  13. Could you define exactly what a "Moderator" does, please? Tony
  14. There is a picture in this month's "Old Glory" - it has been "civilianised" and is in the livery of "Pratts Spirit". Looks very nice, though! Tony
  15. For those of us who cannot get there - we need these great pictures! Tony
  16. Why just one thou oversize? Obviously a rule of thumb, but was it a Devonian thumb, or a Midlands thumb? Copied from the original so I guess it was a "Basingstoke rule of thumb" - but copied in Devon! There was some thought that there should be two slightly different diameters on the outside so that they would slip in easily on a smaller diameter to start with and then tighten up on the slightly larger diameter as they were pushed in - but the originals were a constant diameter - and so are the replacements. Do you have other thoughts about this and is the "rule of thumb" in Geordie Land quite different? Tony
  17. Amazing progress, Dan - well done! Tony
  18. Probably of no interest to us - but please publish the Picture as it coud well be of interest to somebody else! Tony
  19. Yes, we had noticed that one - no good to us - but thank you! Tony
  20. Well done, Dan! Great progress! Tony
  21. Just on BBC Spotlight South West - good coverage - including Jack's Hair!
  22. Have a look at Posts Nos 1201, 1208 and 1209 on page 121 of the "Dennis Thread"! Tony
