  1. Although I can log on successfully when I click on certain links I get ....Sorry, but as a free member you do not have access to this part of the site. Any ideas?
  2. Must be nice to have some help Andy, put this sign on the wall, any complaints just point to it and shrug...
  3. I use other forums that have a button and it was very pleasing when, as a newby, I got my first like..:-D
  4. This fine Explore is now owned by Paul and Jenny Rollseagle..
  5. Tried water based gloss too, nice semi mat sheen and easy to apply, but it soon wore off!
  6. We all now his love of brutal machinery, but it seems he's calmed down a bit now! Looking at that bike, I wonder if it was him who coined the phrase, "Got into a bit of a tank slapper back there!"
  7. And I don't think much has changed..:nut:
  8. Yes that had occurred to me too, but I can't do the walk..
  9. It hasn't appeared in the Explorer gallery yet if the index is correct
  10. Nothing much lasts standing outside, I use thinned household gloss and give it a quick rub with a ScotchPad and re-coat every now and then, only takes a few hours but needs another go now, must have done 10 coats at least by now!
  11. I'm sure that to anyone who has spent weeks scraping and wire brushing an Explorer from underneath, Gritineye will need no explanation... I didn't reveal my real name before I retired as a lot of my more lucrative customers were of the tree hugging variety, and I thought it best to keep them from stumbling across my gas guzzling activities! Just one good reason for using an anonymous user-name, a practice that has been frowned on by a couple of posters on here in the past..
  12. Just thought I needed to check how my oil seal workaround is working..o/s is just as it was left, all OK.. However some oil has run along from the n/s swivel housing, but has been trapped in the drive coupling thingy, and has not got into the bearing. I put this down to being stuck off road the axle at full tilt (the Beltring effect) for too long, all cleaned up with a rag wrapped steel rule in the gap around the shaft. Should be OK now as long as I can keep on the flat! A big ask I know...
  13. Come on Andy, not fair showing pics of palm couplings until Darren's got some...:-D
  14. :thumbsup:Good decision! Welcome to the bonkers world of Scammell Explorer ownership, what engine has yours got?........
  15. Signed, do hope they are able to continue..
  16. Hi Bob, welcome, fine ambition you have! Yes they can run on LPG, a few have done the conversion and it can make more sense than dieselizing, I'm sure there is a discussion on it somewhere which I can't find at the mo. Someone with a bit more memory left will no doubt find it for you!
  17. Very nice Tony, no work needed, keep it just as it is, a new headlamp glass and a wipe over with an oily rag and off you go..
  18. Yes, it counts as work in progress :-) to be authentic make sure you leave the front bumper end fixings a little loose, so they make an annoying rattle all the time! My dad had one and it started rattling almost from new, as does a restored one that I sometimes hear passing my house! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Any chance you could nip back and ease those Scammell Explorer scotch pans from under the wheels? They're getting hard to find now...
  20. Presume you mean for towing the Centurion mono wheel fuel trailer, was there such a beast?
  21. Have to say I quite like it in original Rambo style, wonder if it was a film prop, plenty of originals about, dare to be different I say.....:-D
