1. Fabulous, brilliant and magical at the same time, what an achievement! Thanks for posting that..
2. Glad you're enjoying it jack, it's some thing I've often thought about doing, you're making me think I ought to at least have a couple of lessons to see how I like it! I would certainly give the old grey matter a work out.. In the mean time I'm having this delivered to W&P so you can keep your hand in next week..
3. Yep, the lone one flew right over my house this morning, then back again this aft, followed by the three together in close formation, think they would have been heading for Shoreham..
4. In some ways my thinking is similar to yours, but the two seven/ten year olds that I came literally within inches of running over with my Scammell when they appeared from nowhere and cut across in front of me hadn't learned common sense or learned much about natural selection yet!
5. A couple of years ago I packed the front wheel bearings on My Scammell Explorer 'Forceful' with TrueBlue grease to keep it off the new brake linings, because the hub seals were shot. I checked them last year pre season just in case, and all was fine except a little runny grease oozing out from the swivel housing along the stub axle, which I wiped off with a rag on a ruler. As there was no reason to suppose anything had changed, I didn't bother to look again, but lately a little voice has been nagging in my head, call it intuition if you like but I reckon Forceful is a little psychic.. Anyhow I couldn't leave it and yesterday had to have a look as we are off to W&P in a few days. EEEK! Water! Rust.. rusty bearing! The water had run out of the stub axle, look at the rust there The water was filling the bottom of the drive flange Not looking good Luckily the water hadn't reached the inner bearing, only a little had got into the hub center Didn't take a pic of the rollers but they are as badly rusted, and the bearing had been spinning on the stub axle, luckily not for long enough to do any damage there' The question is, where did this amount of water come from? my guess is that it was in the slightly emulsified oil/grease in the swivel housing, that had evaporated when hot and condensed in the hub when colder. The other side bearings are fine , just a teeny bit of surface rust in the flange, as the damaged side is facing south when parked up so it's subjected to bigger fluctuations in temperature, I think that may be the cause. Any Ideas as to how to prevent this in future gratefully received! Forum member Chrisg, bearing guru and all round good egg came up trumps and a new bearing should be here tomorrow :thanx:
6. That thing's so shiny it should reflect back any incoming..... a fool proof defence system that hasn't been tried before to my knowledge.....
7. Don't worry Jack's concentrating hard practising his Telekinesis (or Psychokinesis) moving the entire clubhouse to W&P in honour of your arrival as I type, he's nearly got it but the red carpet hanging out the door keeps catching on one of the range wrecks in the car park... See ya'll there..
8. Reserved for It Ain’t Half Hot Mum concert party...
9. In the times of uncertainty about whether electronic devices could withstand power nuclear surges, this device enabled navigation by the ancient Aboriginal method of using ley-lines...
10. Nice work, helluva big job but good to see you're keeping the momentum going well! Don't worry too much about those inaccessible places, I didn't either...
11. That's a great pic, how rare are pics of those on pneumatic tyres? Looks like the front axle or the track rod on the Rolls might be bent.
12.:bow::bow::clap::clap::clap::dancinggirls::rotfl::rotfl::rofl::rofl: It sure does.. Lauren, all I can offer is a drive in the Rugged One sometime... If that could actually be called a prize...
13. Well it's nearly Scammell recovery...... Heavy haulage version
14. Only 6 minutes and we'll all turn into pumpkins...
15. Is there a mechanism inside or any contents at all?
16. I wonder whether it's dropped, the 'ears' keep it upright so that the legs stick in the ground, possibly filled with flamey/burny stuff to act as a marker at night. Runways?
17. Does something pass through the middle, like a cord or rod?
18. It's the top part of one of those bead breakers Tony B is after..
19. Interesting question Tim, got me thinking about it now... I once saw the relatives of a deceased Vintage car collector clearing his stuff into a skip, I immediately put them right as to the error of their ways, they wouldn't listen!!! When I asked if I could have some things I could see in a skip I was told 'No...we've spent three days filling three skips, and you're not taking anything out again!' Same thing when I bought a lathe, all tooling and accessories (worth as much or more than the lathe) dumped! I have a fantasy of spending a season visiting every show I can with Forceful and trailer, leave home for the first one, go from one to the next, and not come home till after the last. Sometimes try to work out how many I could do, I could visit two or even three on some weekends.....:-D Not likely too happen though, for obvious domestic reasons....:nono::kissoncheek:
20. Great vids and pics chaps, thanks for posting..
21. Yep, anywhere between the Stolly lake and the barby area will be fine...:-D
22. 2 x deep virus scans 2 x deep malware scans Check pop up blockers and settings etc. etc. It's still happening, and on other sites as well Found out it's not a pop up but a web page pretending to be a popup..just to give me the runaround...:banghead: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/pop-blocker-settings-exceptions-troubleshooting#w_pop-ups-not-being-blocked Then read this on a forum ======================================= Sounds like you've downloaded some adware, doesn't it? Any recent programs or toolbars added? If so you may be able to eliminate the popups by removing them. Anything new in the Start Menu that you may wish to disable? Try the following which are effective against some forms of adware. See: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ AdwCleaner is a program that searches for and deletes Adware, Toolbars, Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP), and browser Hijackers from your computer. By using AdwCleaner you can easily remove many of these types of programs for a better user experience on your computer and while browsing the web. The types of programs that AdwCleaner targets are typically bundled with free programs that you download from the web. In many cases when you download and install a program, the install will state that these programs will be installed along with the program you downloaded. Unless you perform a Custom install, these unwanted programs will automatically be installed on your computer leaving you with extra browser toolbars, adware, and other unwanted programs. AdwCleaner is designed to search for and remove these types of programs. ========================================== Used AdwCleaner to flush the pesky little critters out and delete them.. http://download.cnet.com/AdwCleaner/3000-7786_4-75851221.html There is a link in that program to install an anti PUP thingy in AdwCleaner, I did that too. http://www.malekal.com/2012/01/10/hosts-anti-pupsadware =============================================== Remembered that I had recently installed newer version of Paint.net, although I'm not pointing a finger, I also noticed I now had Bing tool bar installed without asking as well, I think this came in with a MS update. Tried twice to remove that using revo uninstaller which I have on my PC and has always worked with stubborn progs before http://www.revouninstaller.com/ Bing's icon still there in the prog list!!! but seems not to be working!!!. All seems OK for now, hope that's it now.... :computerrage: Jack... I do believe you...we've noticed over the years that writing computer code that works ain't your strong point.... :-D
