  1. I’ve spoken to my mate who repairs and refurbs burners and stoves. hes asked me to pass on his info if needed Steve Darby grizzly.darbs@btinternet.com or message him on 07771521115 paul
  2. If anyone needs spares, info or repairs on any British burner or stove, there’s a good engineer friend of mine in Essex who’s obsession is these. What the guy doesn’t know, not worth knowing. He’s called STEVE DARBY, if anyone knows him, if not PM me and can pass his details over.
  3. Essar is the old Shell Stanlow Refinery, spent half my life in there.
  4. If anybody needs traditional wooden HAND MADE tent pegs can I suggest The Scout Store, online. All correctly made, the grain in the right places, different sizes and lengths and VERY CHEAP. Cheapest I’ve seen, I got 20 X 9” for £15.00 inc postage .
  5. I was going to say speak to Rob, great bloke and a LOT of books, manuals, leaflets, forms etc
  6. Zuffin beat me to it. Its a pulley or external bearing puller. Was using one yesterday, modern equivalent but exactly the same. Modern ones have interchangeable feet on the bottom of the legs for different applications. Yours seem to be for one certain application. Be nice to find out what tho.
  7. In the UK you don’t need a license for a blank firing weapon, you can actually buy the blanks off Amazon with no proof of age etc. You DO need to be over 16 years old to own one. You need to be a member of a group or organisation too. As for deacs, the certificate is just a piece of paper. You don’t actually need a certificate for a deac. You do if selling it on tho. As long as the weapon is proof marked on all the parts deactivated, bolt, barrel etc, it is legal. Some displays will insist on documentation also to attend. You need a certificate if taking your prized welded up paperweight to Europe tho. To prove the deactivation is to their current butchery laws! Some countries, it’s actually easier to own a live firing weapon such as Bren, Sten, Enfield etc than a deac!!
  8. Bugger, just seen this too late. Im looking for the same if anyone can help. Thanks
  9. Can I recommend Frank Brown at Pegasus Drive for the canvas. Great guy to work with for webbing and canvas gear
  10. Also check for air leaks, sucking in air will also cause the engine to cut out.
  11. Imagine that start up in surround sound!! Great work guys, credit to British engineering and ingenuity.

  16. Hi Chris no intel from others yet so no ideas what’s happening. Would be good there again, great spot. No 6 pounder tho this year I’m afraid. Will put feelers out and let you know. You going to mow your own grass or want me to use the jeep again?? 😜😜😂😂👍
  17. Just a heads up on this event. ive been going for a few years now and it is a great show. Fascinating location and well run. Loads to do and see, well organised, good bunch of guys n gals. As Commander says, no real need to book, unless you do have any special requests or needs, just turn up and set up. I go Friday afternoon, set up tent and displays then get to the traders for bargains.
  18. Last picture is an Orme Evans lightweight airborne trailer, very nice. Would love to have found that here, most are SS Cars (went on to be Jaguar) im restoring one myself I found dumped at a local tip with snapped draw bar. Everything of the lower 9” has had to be fully remanufactured!! still looking for a lot of parts, especially the front hitch.
  19. Yep, that’s the place, lot of the structures still there, only wire fence surrounds it. Some is acceptable from the public beach, some rails poking out the sand and few concrete building bases and wiring conduits. Blast wall onto the beach is still there and few of the low concrete walls inside the Field, guessing the track still there too. no remains of the training equipment, but there’s a few farms about, they love to hoard stuff, or have memories of its use.
  20. Guessing your a Lanc fanatic mate? theres an old RAF gunnery range at HELLS MOUTH near Abersoch in North Wales. Some of the old structure and narrow gauge track still there, inc the blast walls. Good access and just sheep there now.
  21. To me the wall thickness is an issue on this as stated. I have formed 4” copper tube on steam boat engines with no problems using the fine sand method, but that was thicker wall. We have hydraulic pipe benders in the workshop but even doing thin wall steel tube is an issue for us. Pity an internal support spring can’t be sourced, what about a spring suppliers, we have an old time spring manufacturer local who make and spring clip or coils, a lot kept in stock.
  22. Just came across this picture from 2013 any ideas where this trailer was and if possibly for sale please?
  23. Have you seen how many holes are in that hull, like a sieve I bet!! Lol
  24. I have two British Mk1 Mortar Carriers that are on the back burner to do.
