  1. Well, that looks like good, solid progress to me! trevor
  2. If that grey thing it is connected to is something like a diode, then it could be very important. trevor
  3. I wonder how long since a Scammel last did such a job in Normandy? trevor
  4. That is interesting, and I did wonder because most of the images I have seen relates to the same types. I can see I need to get out more in Militant land... trevor
  5. 'double bed and leather sofa'? I did once keep a sponge mattress in the back of my van, for camping purposes, honest! Were all Militants used for artillery or recovery roles, or did they have other uses? trevor
  6. Oh, much bigger than I thought from the pictures :-D
  7. Nice looking project! What size of engine is that, I don't really know my way around Ariels very well. trevor
  8. It could still help with the sunday roast
  9. Ah, I did wonder if the water was gear driven or something, as I did wonder what might make it tight. So the big question is - how is the water pump feeling? trevor
  10. Ah, a kind of emergency brake? trevor

    Normandy

And as you cross the channel your ro-ro ferries, it is worth remembering that they are the descendents of the LSTs that went ashore at Normandy. trevor
  12. And back off topic... :red: I see that this is the Leicester AFV repair depot, which I have discovered was located on the site of a future housing development. They had only got as far as laying out the roads by the outbreak of war, and so these roads were used to store AFVs that were being prepared for issue or which returned for major repairs or overhaul. Sometime after the war they finally got to build the houses. So, where this shot was taken could be someone's front garden now, or shop. trevor
  13. As long as the pipes connect to something upstream of the carburettor, then there should be no problem. It is when a pipe connects to something downstream of the carb, between the carb and the engine, that you can have problems. trevor
  14. So what is it for, what does it stop running back? I am all intrigued now! trevor
  15. Nice, do you know if any exist? I suppose that in delivering the locomotives, they were also delivering the trailers to the theatre as well. trevor
  16. That's an unusual trailer they are using, and I see they have another waiting on the landing craft. trevor
  17. Were those canvas mudflaps a common fitment to trailers, or just the binned? I have never seen any before, I had assumed they would be made of rubber. trevor
  18. Here in Poland a Brit is someone who spends his/her time in some form of 'Brit' ghetto or social life. I, on the other hand, distance myself from such people as I have 'gone native', and in so doing have gained the remarkable skill of enjoying the local cuisine, and when I say 'I am going home' I always mean I am returning to my apartment and never 'back to the UK'. :-D. What running gear did the original LSV use? trevor
  19. Very nice shot, it is so good to see them all there together! trevor
  20. Ah, that makes the picture much clearer! So, do you know what the welding is about - I can't think what would be there unless there was some shipping damage. trevor
  21. What is the other guy doing, pulling some kind of pull-thru through the barrel to clean it? I have never seen a tank barrel cleaning kit, what would it contain? Now that reminds me of an old joke - what is the weight of a pull-thru? trevor
  22. The next thing I would start wondering about is the thermostat. Any idea how old it might be? trevor
  23. For someone living on the 'eastern front', I must admit that the relevance of the heads of state was important. Some of my wife's students returned home to the eastern end of Ukraine at Easter and never returned - others won't be going back to the Crimea because they won't be exchanging their passports for Russian ones. So while it would have been nice to see a few more MVs and stuff, who did or didn't shake Putin's hand was of more than passing interest. Sad, and annoying, but true. trevor
  24. I would if I could, and bring some spare split pins too trevor
