  2. Hi all, an item of this design if found in the bunker was probably the property of Hermann Goring (successor to the `Red Baron`and CO of the flying circus in the 1WW). He would most likely impressed by a clock of this nature/rarity rather than an ex Corporal of the army in 1WW ! Or possibly another of the Flying types seeking refuge in bunker. Ashley
  3. Hhhmmmmm found in FAKEham eh? i am sure old Adolph would never entertain a nice clock with a very non German looking eagle and no swastika to boot :??? ........... He may have been a somewhat CUCKOO but it don`t look right to me. Just my thoughts we shall have to wait and see Ashley
  4. on a serious note a "stealth" U-boat was recently discovered in the Solent, i believe the boat was encased in a rubber skin which prevented it from being detected by sonar ? Ashley

  8. During the 1939-45 desert war the germans sent most of thier vehicles in the continental grey (also a lot of their troop wore uniform items of the same colour). When permissable vehicles were resprayed but many just accumulated dust and sand for the camo effect. This was also true for captured vehicles. Ashley

  13. You will note from the film that very few ( if any ) of the German troops are wearing steel helmets but are wearing the `scratcher caps` or a few are wearing the Picklehaulb. This is because the first German helmets were not issued to troops until 1916, they were supposed to be issued for this battle but not enough helmets were available at the time. Ashley

  21. Hi all, there is a lot of controversy regarding these badges including these made by Seilier (sp) & comp. of Geldern...M1/129 and this maker is one of the most copied by the Chinese. They are apparently commemoration badges the originals were made be for 1933 (but with out dates) and reissued (sold) to aid party funds in approx 1935 so a person could show allegiance from the beginning of the party. As you can see not a brilliantly made badge by any means, but these along with other artifacts of German Third Reich history can become a fascinating and complex area to research, wehrmacht-awards.com for further research. Ashley
