  1. H is also wearing the M36 tunic with the dark green collar and epaulets {sp?} He is also wearing what is known as a crusher cap [schirmutz aller art] (old style)favored by many of the old school military men, and also by younger officers who would remove the spring from the peak of their peaked hats to give them the softer (floppy) look but were also easier to stuff into a pocket or opening of a jacket if the need arose. Ashley
  2. These must be on a driver training course using Luftwaffe registered buses carrying the phrase "fahrschule" [learner driver] on the left hand of the front bumper. sorry didnot se earlier post from DH Ashley
  3. I shall probably have to do it by PM but heres a couple to peruse a nice M16 standard camo (1918) Also a m35 with subtle 2 tone green camo. There are very few experts in this field due to the cunningness of fakers prepared to relieve hard working peoples of there monies. I have had to give up collecting these purely due to the price of them. Ashley
  4. From what i can see....... 5 M16 -M17, the helmet front left is a M16, 3 M35/40 With lufty eagles i.e. centre front , at least 2 armys (one with apple green {early} finish, some may have PW[noewegian ]liners judging by the colours but could be just well used. A close up of the chin straps would be usefull Ashley
  5. Hi all, for years faking was prevalent in the German militaria market (to include helmets on a vast scale  ) but over the last 15 or so years has caused many a headache in the allied area of militaria. But as stated many still buy these items with no knowledge on the subject and these days research, visual and handling of known genuine items (difficult i know) is a definite must and with certain types of militaria a keen sense of smell !.....you cant fake 60 year old smell. One way to detect early re-pro painted helmets was to sniff the paint for freshness) got me plenty of funny looks :cool2: but often saved me pennies for genuine items. Ashley
  6. The W.A forum has changd server just recently. Ashley

  9. I can remember on our first family camping holiday (1971), my late father being QM(tech) kitted us all out with the 1945 dated KFS sets, sleeping bags, blankets, poncho`s, towels and we lived off compo rations most of the fortnight ! Happy Days Happy Days Ashley

  11. Tell me about it Tony........for us who support the "fuller figure" it may be a case of paying up for repro gear "cough cough" Ashley

  13. Hi NIGEL, i have most items but the knife and fork are very elusive as is the jumper that was carried in the pack. I have a housrwife (but tatty) and most of the washroll contents,so the search goes on. Ashley
  14. Go on Tony........get out the battledress and hobnails :-D Ashley
  15. Also i belive (i could be wrong)that all war time bits if webbing had Brass buckles as apposed to the post war black metal types. Some of this stuff can be cheap on e-bay and at Beltring if you are prepared to hunt around, one of the diffulculties is trying to find the personal contents of the small pack which i am trying to complete at present. Ashley
  16. Fantastic stuff Joris, thanks for posting. Ashley

  19. Hi Jules, these ithink are regimental markings i.e 2 nd seaforth highlander regt. weapon number 942, 3rd yorks and lanc`s weapon no 448 (other regiments are available with these abreviations) i do have a booklet on bayonet markings somewhere !!!!! Ashley
  20. Hi, i use a vauxhall frontera to tow mine on a trailer, i use one from the Brian James range which i brought second hand but they are not cheap hobbies but are a godsend over long (and short)distances. I have always worked on the jeep being about a 1000 kilos and the trailer is 500 kilos so it should be ........... 1500 KG permisable towing rate = which would be the max weight for some 4x4 `s on the market, which exceeds the 85% rule. you must check the data plate (or check on line)for the relevant info. Best of luck Ashley
  21. But of course dear boy :-D Ashley
  22. OH ye of little faith, the ones i have normally seen are silver in colour with the trade mark painted in red, this being subdued must be an origonal "combat" version.................................possibly a barn find. Ashley
