  9. I think they did a fantastic Job bring it back from almost a complete wreck and the word is "almost" to a very complete operational HMV .They had a few miss steps but then who doesn't . they learned a lot .
  10. Being resourceful , having a need and finding a solution something soldiers are good at . Great photo never seen another like it . Wonder how many others are still unpublished in old scrap books kept by Veterans . Speaking of that I will look for some I was given .
  11. The fitting for pulling with horses while at first glance is a good idea , I m afraid he will need a number more horses than he currently has in order to be able to infact draw either vehicle, so the heck with that horse power and chuck the worries to the wind start up that beautiful mechanical horse power and get on down the lane with it .
  12. It was quite common when I would go to a parade, for spectators to ask what I / our group thought of the current operations thinking we were active service personal , Many couldn't understand that civilians could/would purchase and own military vehicles ...they barely handle that part let alone that what they were seeing were restored historical Former military vehicles . I met up with an gentleman down at the Aberdeen proving grounds in Maryland who was displaying his restored MB or Ford Jeep 194? Cant recall exactly that while he was standing by his vehicle in period uniform a woman approached with an infant and proceeded to lay the child on the hood of his Jeep and change its dieper all the while he's trying to explain that this is HIS Jeep to which she replied of course it is and He saying again this is My personal Jeep ....she didn't get it and finished up and left still clueless
  13. ah what you lot never heard of a two for one sale ? hes been holding out on Us hasn't he!
  14. At least you were going home and not out somewhere else .......where it might be difficult to explain about puddles in canvas and stopping and such a poor design ..... or do most WC drivers routinely carry spare trousers in plastic bags for just such occasions in wet weather?
  15. Thats a relief , had visions of something terrible had gone and that I might be finding myself in the same position someday .

  24. I see you meant that you sewed the front tarp on to the rear tarp I thought only a rib/flap of canvas had been added to the rear tarp . You have a good point as to the tensioning. I m sure the Dodge owners will be very interested in the weather proofing improvements you have to offer them now .
