  1. Have to agree with you Steve; the driver of the Scammell can't be at fault if he is travelling along at his stately 25 MPH. The problems we have found using our big vehicles on A roads are numerous. If we want to travel long distances it is significantly more expensive and longer in time to use the A roads and secondly we cause all sorts of problems plus the ever increasing road restrictions. How many of us have been overtaken by some rash idiot on a blind bend? It is a matter of being sensible and taking considered precautions. The time I was hit in my Jeep on the M4 the coach driver admitted seeing me well before impact; he made a series of errors that resulted in has National Express bus hitting me. Motorways are a dangerous place and yes I would agree we should avoid them if possible but they are a necessary evil for those long journeys. ps. How many accidents are there on motorways daily?
  2. Does anyone have a photo of the Matador spare wheel carrier as was fitted in the gun tractors?
  3. Has anyone found any 4.5/5.5" gun parts in their travels? :cheesy:
  4. The introduction of Artillery Corner to the Tyntesfield WWII Weekend was a big hit with the general public. The crowds could get up close to the guns and the vehicles that towed them. Tobin Jones's live firing session with the 17pdr was a definite hit.
  5. After nine months of planning, the Shopland Collection team was delighted with our event at Tyntesfield House, held in partnership with the National Trust and in association with the Imps and the Blitz Buddies. This is a fabulous venue for a Forties weekend that attracted nearly 100 vehicle entries, one Dakota and plenty of re-enactors. With a Home Front focus this little event drew the crowds in their thousands, filling all the car parks to capacity. Please check out the photos on Tyntesfield WWII Weekend Facebook page and on the Collection web site.
  6. The Shopland Collection LCVP was on set with George Clooney this week in the filming of Monuments Men: After all the excitement of the Tyntesfield WWII Weekend Hollywood seemed a little dull.
  7. Thank you Mr Jones. Your efforts were much appreciated.
  8. Don't forget AEC made a civilian lorry in the 1930's called a Matador
  9. Just let me know at the soonest; I will pen you in as a provisional! :cheesy:
  10. Thanks guys, it was a lot of fun. Hopefully it will raise awareness and bring a few people to our event. :cheesy:
  11. Agreed it is a great story. It would be a crying shame to see her shot to hell when she is in such good shape. Surely someone must know someone.....
  12. Kenny, it is definitely a bug that is hard to shake off! I am sure there are plenty of WWII vehicle hiding in French barns. You need to get out there and see what you can find. Bonne chance mon ami
  13. We had a very similar problem with out old QLR last year leaking water out of the rear core plug.....never a dull moment.
  14. Can anyone help us with what kind of 53 set installation was fitted in out QLR? Also is the colour right in the back of the body?
  15. Thanks Scott, I have to admit I have never heard of either of these gentlemen. Is Robin restoring them?
