  1. Great, I might be off the Forum for some time lads :coffee: Oh, I nearly forgot - welcome girls!
  2. You mean something like the PARTS SUPPLIERS thread, but in a more ordered format with perhaps a more structured way of titling so that it is easier to find what you're after? Good idea.
  3. Howard, I PMed you his details, I think you have to go into the U.S. Ebay, www.ebay.com -took me a while to work out!!
  4. Howard, I checked out John's link to the data plate supplier Lt Horne and the quality looks extremely good as he suggested! Tony
  5. That one is definitely not fibreglass, wrong shape. Looks like a timber framed cab.
  6. I can't help thinking with those booms you should be able to "self-unload" the body, John :-D
  7. Well it would certainly struggle a bit, but it would keep turning the prop and Catweazle and Patweazle would eventually get underway on their European cruise.......
  8. Oh I know, an old barge with a Gardner 3LW :-D:-D:-D
  9. Thanks - this sort of information is so difficult to get hold of. Still on the lookout for M5 tyres!!! Tony
  10. How did you arrive at the shade of green for the engine, Tony? I like it - always think an overall olive drab looks so dull in the engine bay!
  11. Well, all it really needs is a set of rims and tyres, replacement of all pump compartment tinwork and hose tubes down the side (including all brackets), all tank straps and mounts, 3 out of 5 tank support cradles, top catwalk and handles, replating of tank at support areas, ideally new delivery hoses, all support steelwork and brackets for engine, pumps and reels, all brake pipewwork and tanks, all light fittings and wiring (all in steel/copper pipework). The running gear is not too bad -springs, brake adjusters and tie rods look o.k.-ish, trunion bearings? Mind you, if I'm really lucky there will be a set of brake shoes in the hubs . Reaches for more medication.....
  12. Cheers Graham and Richard, another screamer saved then! p.s. what screamed - gearbox or axles?
  13. A tipper - would this have been original fitment for military service, or a common postwar conversion?
  14. Thinking about it, I'm looking for a pair of big worklights for the WLF wrecker.......:cool2:
  15. Looks like they've given you "Boy Racer" mounts - but as you say, if they do the job, then great!
  16. O.K., I get the message.........
  17. If you got that starter fixed you wouldn't need Martin to tow-start you, Jim :-D
  18. Had a very similar noise with my jeep - turned out to be the transverse section of exhaust pipe occasionally hitting the transfer box belly plate, took ages to pin it down but easy to fix!
  19. How about you liase with a local Road Planing contractor and hit the town before he does - that way the damage would be immaterial :cool2:
  20. I'm certain it is the original decking with what appears to be a lot of moss underneath :??? - either that or some type of insulation. To be honest I haven't dared to poke it yet, still working up a plan. I'm hoping to get a vaguely similar looking perforated deck material though - have some good contacts for this. I'm trying to stop this job turning into one of my T shirts - "I try to take just one day at a time...... but lately several days have attacked me at once"
  21. Thanks for the advice Norman. Yes I have to plan this with care. I've already drained out the remaining diesel - next task is to unbolt the two sump bowls (where the 4" dia. suction pipes to the two pumps sit) and flush out a small amount of gundgy residue and the odd dead fish from these areas. The tank has drained to leave a remarkably clean base. Then there are two big rectangular bolted manhole covers at each end on top, as well as the circular filling hatches to remove so that the tanks can be vented. Pictures can then be safely taken through the hatches. Until I lift the tank I cannot assess the degree of repairs needed to the underside at each support cradle area. The top under the walkway is also likely to be a bit tender (see pics :shake:). I'm clearing a flat bed trailer to accommodate two steel cradles with large nylon lifting strops as cross members, to allow tank to sit and be turned for repairs. Fancy a week of welding, Catweazle? :cool2:
  22. Health and Safety :nono:, Highways Agency :nono:, Police :nono:, Local Authority:nono:, Public Liability insurance :nono: (for starters) But hey, you like a challenge Jack don't you? :-D
