  1. Robert, So you missed the NOS Lucas distributor then?
  2. A local guy won it, from Thanet. Look at the W&P photos on Milweb, there is a write up.
  3. :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D Stand by all Mechanics.............inbound technical queries likely from our award winning leader :shake:
  4. Mike, I recollect ( way back when ) an Explorer in REME workshops for repairs, with a BT number, having been transfered from RAF to Army at some time, noticeable, by the Eau-de-Nil colour paint work in the cab.
  5. Well done Jack, thanks for the kind words, but as others have pointed out, it was your idea and you are at the helm, so all awards go to you.: regards, Richard PS it was a pleasure to meet you at last.
  6. Hi Mark, I might well go to Military Mayhem, although not booked a vehicle in yet. Will look out for you. Steve W, I have not seen for about 8 or 9 years although he was seen by a friend in Surrey a little while ago. Trevor, Bernie and Eddie not seen for a long time. Have seen Tony G at Dorset Steam Fair several times and he popped up at Beltring last week. I do remember Tony with the Champ, not heard of since then. Billy A, I recall had a CMP Bofors tractor, before having one of the first privately owned Ferrets, a French Army one, then a Pig before getting the Saracen. Not seen him this year. Richard
  7. Thanks Mark, I have just received my 30 year badge from MVT, but did have a couple of ex-military motorcycles before that. there will be a few on here who have been in the movement longer, WOA2 Robert Davey I think.......( sounds like a rank ). Bart Vanderveen had a vast amount of knowledge on the MV subject, never known him make a mistake in his published work. For those that do not know him or have never read copies of Wheels & Tracks, I suggest they seek out any old copies, well worth reading. Mark, sorry not to have caught up with you at Beltring, Catweazle said you were looking for me. Richard
  8. As I used to work on them, should be able to answer for you, Perkins Eagle 6 cyl and from memory a 350 bhp version. They are an update on the old RR Eagle.
  9. "Can you do a good discount on a tent for me?"
  10. Goran, That is an ex-British Army Commanders Caravan, built on a Sentinel 2 ton (load) trailer, approx. 1950's. Weight unladen 3,140 kgs Weight laden 3,330 kgs Richard
  11. You know what they say, "little things please little mi.............." better not go there :-D
  12. Neils, I think the Mk4 here, has 1942 on the hull and it has the plates welded same as yours. Do not have a note of the chassis number here. Richard
  13. Hello Niels, After seeing what you mean, I would say that it was welded on to protect the welded joint between upper and lower hull side plates. They may have proved vulnerable in service and that it was a modification. I have a feeling it could be a MkII or MkIII, that has been made into a MkIV, looking at the workshop manual, it shows the welded plates on there, but a stowage illustration for a MkII is without plates. Do you know if the hull without plates is earlier than the other? There is a hull number on a small plate welded on outside near the drivers left side visor. Richard
  14. Tim, Those steel wheels on the Model T chassis, look something like those on the Paterson tractor conversions, for use on golf courses, parks, etc. They did do them on the T.
  15. Neil, The problem is, that once red is in the system it can be detected by Customs & Excise, even if you have run it out and go on to normal DERV, there will be a residue present. So when you get to go on the road, you run the risk of having it checked and detected. Is the engine capable of running on multifuel principle? If so, the clumsy motorist could be your saviour, by using petrol/diesel mix.........all tax paid for by someone else!
  16. Graham, Think it was the green one that had the rope and it was from a Bedford MJ. The length should be 185 feet and with six coils on the drum the rope should be painted red along its length by the fairleads, to warn when to stop paying out. Richard
  17. Hi Graham, Not shorted out, but nearly blew a fuse :-D I seem to think the winch rope on your K6 is not to full length, in fact it could well be one that I managed to save from an army earthmoving tractor. I found one that was damaged near the drum end and was replaced, it then went on either your K6 or the green one. The correct length rope will come up to the top of the drum. Try pulling it out to check length, if you have not done this before, there is a dog clutch lever on the winch, for free spooling and the band brake. You might need to pull it out with another vehicle for first few times until brake surface is clear of rust. I took the green K6 from the museum to Parham steam rally many years back and the site was muddy when we went to go, the K6 walked through it, providing you take it easy, don't forget there is a low range in the Aux. box. Richard
  18. No no..........NATO Standard is milk with two sugars ( tea that is ) :coffee:
  19. I seem to recollect he had some vehicles on display in the grounds of Powderham Castle and am sure I saw the Hexonaut there. That would be back in early Seventies I reckon.
  20. No chalets or any other construction work in America's Field........don't listen to rumours :nono::-D, mind you getting into the field is a bit like a construction site.......muddy
  21. Was down there today, met Mark with his WLF, Sean and Lee. America Field is firm, but not good around the entrance to the field and up by the shower block and bridge, needs a few loads of hardcore dropped in. As a local, I find in this part of the country, it does not always follow the pattern of the forecasts, especially when coming up from the SW, so I am being positive........but still taking umbrella, w/proof and wellies though :-D Richard
  22. Mark would have got his QL about 1987, when I bought mine. Will try and find some photos of Tenterden shows.
  23. Catweazle, That is correct, the first IMPS show there was in 1983 ( I stand to be corrected ) and think they may have had four there before moving to Beltring. The first year, Peter Gray brought his M10 along a real novelty, a private owned tank, now you see so many at shows. Corporal Jones from Dad's Army was guest one year and I received my prize from him. They had a steam crane and loaded vehicles on trucks and took them down the line...........those were the days..........were you there?
  24. He gets about.........saw him at the 40's Weekend at steam railway at Tenterden in May.
