  1. Is it .............ah yes, just looked on the shelf, a shield saying "Steaming Home"..."Best Motor Cycle in Show"...............presented to me by Cpl Jack Jones of Warmington-on-Sea Home Guard :-D
  2. CW, I once came across a display of WW2 military vehicles in the grounds of Powerham Castle in Devon, guess it would have been in mid 70's. Found out later it was Jeff's collection, I am sure there was a Humber Hexonaut there. Later I think he had some vehicles in Warnham museum.
  3. How many on here used to go the Rushmoor steam and vintage shows? This outfit used to be rallied by Jeff Theobald. Especially picked this photo, taken in 1986, for Graham with the K6 Gantry, because he asked recently for a photo of the 7.5 ton recovery trailer.
  4. Mark, While you are at it, don't forget the basic requirement, check this out; www.bumperdumper.com :coffee:
  5. That was the name Tony, I remember after turning the computor off last night. The background looks like it could have been their yard. I have no idea if they are anything to do with the firm at Binbrook.
  6. CW, I first went to the Southsea D-Day show in 1984 and would have first met Tom then, he is from the Portsmouth area. We were then invited to the MVT Solent area event at Southsea Castle in August and also done that event for many years. At that time I used to ride a BSA M20 all over the place and I know Tom had quite a few bikes. Will dig out a few more pics tomorrow, can't find the ones I am looking for.
  7. CW, I might well remember him as around that time I was regularly rallying my M20. The chap on the left of the photo looking on, looks like Tom Gates and that may well be his K2 ambulance.
  8. Do you mean the Canadian GMC C15TA armoured personnel truck? It looks like a typical garage breakdown conversion of the 40's/50's era.
  9. I think John Pearson will be able to add to this thread, he took part in landing some historic military vehicles from landing craft in Normandy 2004. They were craft belonging to the British Army sailing out from Marchwood, Southampton. I do have some photos, but cannot find them at present.
  10. Yeah yeah....you just copied that of Google :n00b:
  11. Another from Tenterden 1986, this is the late Dick Davidson's GMC. Anyone remember the name painted across the bonnet, in German?
  12. No Mark, not in the album I am looking at, his Pig came along before that.
  13. This one is from the MVCG Southsea Castle show, 1984. It is another of Bill Armitage's vehicles, a Ford LAA tractor, as always, his vehicles were superbly restored.
  14. Les, If you think it was taken in Portsmouth area, then I think it was taken in a long gone dealers yard just off the A3M as you come down towards Hayling Island. Was it called Southern Counties or something like that :???
  15. Mark, I think he drifted off from the MV scene, having an interest in old Fords, of all types. I once saw him with a restored early Transit dropside at a show and I think last year, bumped in to him at a small vintage event in Kent.
  16. Some of us like to go all nostalgic and remember the early shows, how it was all different then, more fun, more parts, fuel was cheaper, etc........... Hopefully this thread will start to roll when CW gets up in the loft to sort out his old snaps, come on lets roll :-D This one is from the IMPS Tenterden show in 1985, it is Bill Armitage's ex-French Army Ferret, one of the first privately owned ones in the country.
  17. Good idea, CW, I will put a couple more up tonight and perhaps another veteran of the early shows will also.
  18. CW, I have a suspicion it just might have been owned by Dale Johnson, would have to dig around for the event programme if it is still here.
  19. This one was also at Tenterden 1985, with the steam crane lifting a Chev truck from Guernsey on to a wagon. The chap on the left, trying not to get his gloves dirty is my brother, Robert :-D
  20. You asked ......here is one from 1985 The two chaps on the right, one to left is Mark Farmer and the other was I think, called Roy and he owned the Ford. Think I know the identity of the tow on the left, but let someone else guess.
  21. so thats what the B stands for.........
  22. Apparantly, it is a Scottish word meaning " brown bumblebee" :-D
  23. Aye, can't beat Yorkshire tea tha knows..........:-D
