  1. Thanks Tony, We are always learning something! Obviously the people who taught me all those years ago thought the same thing
  2. Tony, I have never heard that AN meant that before. I am certain it stands for American National, as in ANC or ANF (Coarse and Fine). regards, Richard
  3. the answer is no ........ here is what Hg and PSI are equal to; 1 inHg = 0.491 098 psi, or 2.036 254 inHg = 1 psi.
  4. Martin, I would imagine the "C" is just a change in design or something like that. It does not show C on the Lucas catalogue here.
  5. Hi Martin, That is the correct part number for your Bedford, it was used on later civilian models as well.
  6. Hi Martin, That number is superceded to the following Lucas number: DSB122 http://www.distributordoctor.com/new_parts_available.html regards, Richard
  7. David, my memories of a MK tell me (assuming this is a MK, multifuel with inline pump) that just turning the engine switch on and letting the electric pump run it will self bleed. You have not turned the tap off by chance?
  8. I quite thought the weather would have improved by time I got back, but seeing the UK snow on the TV news Down Under was not good to hear.
  9. This morning I arrived back in to Heathrow to a bitter cold chill. Having had over 3 weeks of wearing just shorts and t-shirt with temps from 25 to 37 degsC, the chill was too much to bear.
  10. Robert, I know who the seller is so if you need contact details, just drop me a PM. regards, Richard
  11. I knew of one still in service with Regular army in 1975, probably disposed of within the following year. My own one was disposed of from Danish Army in 1987, following initial service with British army.
  12. Hi Tim and Steve, Just received a link from a friend out here in Australia on Thornycroft parts, not sure if they are for your model. Pity I did not know last week as I was at the location of them. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321091358042&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:AU:1123 regards, Richard
  13. Hi Juddy, I heard the tragic news about Charlie on Saturday at the Corowa Swim-In swapmeet and was stunned, as was everyone else there. I had known Charlie since 1995. He only called me a short time ago. As I left the showground, Charlie's RB44 stood silently there, it having been driven down by his friends earlier in the week. Sincere condolences to his wife, family and friends. Charlie was a character and will be greatly missed. Best regards, Richard
  14. hi Clive, I have manged to get a weak signal using Telstra dongle and laptop perched on a window ledge, Will have to let this one go i think. After hearing of your internet/pc problems, I wonder if that is what have caused them here........very spooky. :shake:
  15. Hi Martin, Paul Bruschan at Pattenden Lane, Marden is the man, he has wide experience of old military electrics, inc jeeps. Paul does all my starters and dynamos. Mobile number is 07973 722132 regards, Richard
  16. Hi Clive, I think I can be sure of one thing, this one has nothing to do with Queens Regulations from the 1800's. Will wait for a clue regards, Richard
  17. hi Bryan, "C" vehicles and plant was a major part of my job in Workshops in 70's/early 80's, and I found the LMD a fascinating machine, but had a few weak points. Most of the problems were due to the periods out of use, when the digging chains siezed up. regards, Richard
  18. Hi Degsy, Not my post, that was NOS (Tony) who posted that. I had heard of it before, but forget where.
  19. Hi Tom, Looking at the side view of this Austin, I think the wheelbase is too short for a K3 3 tonner, I think it is more likely a K2 ambulance conversion ............ unless the chassis had been shortened :undecided:
  20. Tony, Just be chance, I was reading an article tonight in the latest issue of Vintage Roadscene, about John Waddington's transport fleet and the maps in Monopoly were mentioned. The writer worked for the company in its latter days. I had heard it before, but a coincidence that you should just mention it. regards, Richard
  21. Hey Rosie, be careful how hard you hug ....... you have squeezed I out of the family
  22. Hi Paul, A superb job, it seems a shame to get it dirty now! A lot of detailed work there. Well done. regards, Richard
  23. They probably selected the ugly ones because of what you are thinking about
