  1. Try driving double decker buses over the bridge in high winds! At one time you could get a guided tour of the place. Might be worth asking if anyone is intrested. The view from the top of the towers is *********! Stunning! I've been charged various prices over the years with Land Rovers especially LWB. Easier now with the auto toll, just bowl up and chuck the quid in.
  2. In that case, you get automatic privilige use of the club house Stannah stair lift. However Catweazle has been seen tinkering with NOX kits latley so be prepared. :-D

    Holes

B****ING long history I'd think. I'm sure there are Victirian illustrations of them in military use.
  4. Just got Andy Robertshaw's new book Ghost of the Somme, thanks for posting. Reminds me of the trip I took there in 2006.
  5. That second photo, a vetran gunner and I were talking baout 25 pounders, the max rate of fire is supposedly eight rounds a minute. he told me then when you see a Panzer over open sights the rate of fire goes up considerably. Seeing that picture I now understand exactaly what he meant!:shake:
  6. Welcome Richard, there are a number of modlers on the forum. I 'm only capable of dealing with the 1:1 scale I'm afraid. Your first forum task, post pictures! So the rest of us can call you a clever G*T
  7. Lauren, Bovington have a number of Dodge photos, PM details of the one you want I may be able to help.
  8. You are most welcome Ed. Though vehicles are the basis of the forum, we all absorb anything even vaguly linked to military subjects and history like a sponge. As for smileys, click on more smiley before posting.
  9. Unfortunatley, the Tank Museum and many other organisiatrions are 'fund chashing'. Which currently seems that any proposal must include the words 'Education' or 'Global Warming'. An organisation that I have devoted many voluntary hours to has recently changed it's policy, due to 'Customers' having to 'Fund Chase' from the public purse. The result, regretfully, I will be spending more time with my MV's.
  10. I just show em the 101's tax disc, and go merrily on my way.
  11. What are you complaing about? Half teh populatiuon have a gene that doesn't allow them to see a bus, and the other half don't care anyway. In the bus industry such incidents are called 'Free Hits'. You have a couple of paid weeks off with wiplash or such.
  12. Welcome Alain, you joining really boosts the international coverage of the Forum. Looking forward to local photos. You also get automatic entry to old foggie bar at the club house.
  13. Carbide lamps asre still used by potholers and shooters to black sights.
  14. welcome Andres, don't worry about Goran he 's just going soft. What fun is it if a show isn't under two feet of water blowing a gale? So saying, normandy was a bit rough at times.
  15. Welcome David, don't worry about stirring things up, that's half the fun of the forum. No doubt someone will be along to put you on the right track.
  16. So what year is yours? As you might have guessed I've a soft spot for the little beasts. Didn't the French build a light utility topless version as well? Must go hunting for a picture.
  17. You don't feel other road users may have been slightly intimidated?
  18. see what I mean about the age thing then. :-D
  19. He's a great bloke, give him my best! We all got 'tired but Happy' after sorting the GMC electrical problem. That picture was taken waiting to enter Tilly Sur Selle
  20. Lucky **** enjoy the trip. Safe journey and DON'T forget camera. :-D
  21. Abn, the little Renault 4 first came out in 1960. They are remakable little vehicles. The original was an 850cc 4 pot liquid cooled engine, later ones were 1100. the gear box 4 speed was mounted in front of the engine, front wheel drive. They are independent suspension, my trick to show off was to run two wheels on a 45 degree bank and two on the road, someone tried the same stunt with a convertable Triumph Vittesee, but that's another story. The van came in SWB and LWB. The short had a capacity of 784 pounds (7cwt in UK old Money) the long 1232 pounds (11 cwt) the equivalent Ford Escort van of the time had 5 cwt capacity. The only problem with them was Michelin X tyres, they were totally ******* the vehicle wouldn't stay on the road! Renault fitted Michelin as standard and the vehicle got a bit of a reputation. I fitted Kliber musd and snow to mine and it would go anywhere , if you did push your luck they were light enough to pick up and carry. As Sniper said there was a bolt on 4x4 system (Though some *** person SOLD IT!!) I always wanted one of those, but at £600 it was the same cost as the vehicle. There was a pick up version as well. A far superior vehicle to it's rival the 2CV.
  22. What this Jim?? If it is, the problem is the **&^%$$£$£ electrical Gremlin again!

    Originality

As far as I'm concerned my Dodge is original, except the Norwegians changed the engine sometime about 1963, it has trafficators fitted, and the fuel feed pipe is cupro nickel not steel. More importantly every piece of kit displayed on it is period. Some is civillian kit, but hey it was lying around, seemed a shame to leave it for the enemy! :-D
