  1. Is it Wynn who is reputed to have bought Diamond T's after seeing the skid marks they left on the road? There was a BBC radio programme about the company some years back.
  2. Didn't they go chashing Pancho Villa in Model T's as well? and a couple of Dodges if I remember right.
  3. There was a mini one built on a Land rover chassis by an engineering student running about some years ago. Great laugh and a clever bit of work.
  4. Agree about rank. There was some muppet dressed as a US General in Normandy tried to muscle in and 'Inspect' the troops. The local Mayor and a burly Gendarme, convinced him to depart, avant le derriere. Also long hair and earrings etc on males in uniform :shake:
  5. Hoping for advance ailien technology to fix the truck? :cool2: You can probably make more money putting up a grandstand and charging for photos than from the crop.
  6. So when is the drag race against the Ferrets. Not to mention the tug of war? Welcome to the fun palace.
  7. I think we are into 'How many angels Dance on the Head of a Pin?' country. Who isn't intrested in talking to vetrans? There is the history intrest. If you don't know one end of a spanner from another you shouldn't own a military vehicle. If a member of the public asks a genuine question (It does happen, ocassionally) about a vehicle or what it would have been used for surley they deserve an intillgent answer? If you look at the spread of information and variety of posts on the forum, you see the depth of knowledge. As for , I'll call it uneasyness, about certain Nationallity's being potrayed. That has to be down to the individual. But tolerance is important in our hobby, every conflict has at least two sides, and they are 'MILITARY' vehicles etc. (Though I admit to having certain biais) Any good group, wether they call it re-enactment or Living history, will put a lot of work into research, to get things wrong is an insult to those who did it for real. I'd classify a re-enactment as a portrayal of a specific happening, living history as an encouragement to others to learn and understand.
  8. The poles on the side of the QL are for cammo nets. Fascinating detail of uniform and vehicles though, keep em coming!! :yay:
  9. Whats the armoured vehicle?
  10. Behave nicley and smile, most Coppers have better things to do than hassle MV owners. They also tend to like MV owners when their in a hurry, one said to me recently 'At least you guys all seem to drive carfully and know whats going on around you'. I did point out with sixty year old steering and brakes, you do need to think ahead. :-D

    Fuel pumps

Where did you get the conversion kit? The 101 Ambulance has two of the SU pumps. One for engine, one for Esprbacher.
  12. Welcome to the mad house Elwyn. Where abouts are you based?
  13. Keep looking mate! One of the joys of the hobby!
  14. At least your up and about Jim!. PM me your adress I've got photos of the Dingo from Normandy for you. :-D
  15. Worth asking, or better still visiting, Royal Logistical Corps Museum at Camberley. Andy Robertshaw the curator is well known to many forum members.
  16. Thanks for the picture CW. :iloveyou: The early flexitor suspension Gipsy. I had the later G4, what a Land Rover should have been. I also had an original workshop manual with the BMC rossete on the front. I kept the Driver's handbook for years, eventually passed to somone who had restored a Gipsy and had everything but the handbook. Something like that, no matter how much it means to you, should be with a vehicle.
  17. The good thing is down this way, hay has been made faster than it has for years. Bad news is no rain for regrowth!
  18. At least Jack won't be able to do his Dougal impression this year.:cool2:
  19. Welcome to the forum, the humour (if any) you get used to.
  20. Out of intrest, anyone know if there is an electronic replacment pack for 24 volt ignition? Can solve/prevent a lot of problems.
  21. Well you could put my place on the list! :cool2:
  22. I;ll have a go at what the gossip is about it. Trouble is won't be over there for a while.
  23. Brilliant set of photos. Nice to have one man's history, makes it more real than just books.
  24. Degsey could well be right about tyres. :sweat:If the wagon has been standing a flat spot might have developed. Try swopping for a back wheel if a replacement not available. Check that the rim is on tight. Loosen and check for wear on the studs or holes. As for thumping noise whn idiling, cut a piece of broom handle and use as a stehoscope, stupid but works.
  25. Cor! Ermintrude , built to military spec!
