  1. Just as long as you get the right Post Office! :-D I've two near me that tax, one is a waste of space, in other things as well, the second is great.
  2. Er, I have to forgive you that. Remember some of the Norman's would have been my ancestors, and the Queens title as Duchess of Normandy pre dates her title as Queen of the United Kingdom. :-D I should also point out, there has been a Nazi Concentration Camp on UK soil in living memory . http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lager_Sylt. My own view -Fanatics are dangerous, no matter whose side they on. And yes, I feel very uncomfortable around those dressed in ww2 German uniform of any type. Most importantly if these views are not openly expressed from all sides, the whole thing , well it is still happening. Bear in mind by the widley held social standards of the time, if Hitler hadn't actually invaded Poland, he could well have been revered as one of the greatest statsemen of the 20th Century.
  3. Living memory , you notice. Specifically 30th June /1st July 1940 till 9th May 1945. I was with a German friend at an event, where there were a lot of 'German re-enactors' including SS. His reaction was total disgust. One thing that really annoyed him, none of the re-eanctors had even bothered to learn basic German. http://www.thisisjersey.co.uk/hmd/ This link may help you understand. The UK attitude to the Third Reich and it's memorabilia is very diffrent to the rest of Europe.
  4. The British did not invent the 'Concentration Camp'. The idea of removing and grouping the families, and therefore the supply lines of opposing troops at a time when armies lived of fthe land, was used as far back as warfare goes in history. Also the idea of then exterminating those families was not Britsh State policy. The idea of and conditions in the camps were publicly derided by Britsh citizens. I would also remind those in the UK, you have no history of an armed invader waliking the streets in England in living memory.

The little ransomes aren't much bigger than modern lawn tractors. They were very popular on the Cotils in jersey.
  6. Really nice, how do you get so much detail into something so small.
  7. The beast apparently did started to complain. So I was told by an old colleauge that took part in the test, oil was put back in the box, and the vehicle continued as part of the MOD Police motor club for another couple of years.

Some scrappy is going to think his ship has come in.
  10. Trouble is, most of these bodies, and trailers, were put together from a set of basic parts. The vents and door handles and hinges were definitley used on military kit. The windows make me think it may be airfeild related, as does the yellow, Bodge probably rusting down at Beltring, he'd know. The 'Ministry of Supply' had vehicles with lab bodies on made to measure, could be one of them.
  11. Yeah but if we get a repaeat of last winter it would definitley cause comment in Tesco's car park.
  12. I've stuck Slick 50 in various noisy and stiff gearboxes over the years. Great stuff. The MOD off road club ran a Landy with Slick 50 in for 24 hours, after draining the oil out.
  13. Either we are misisng something here, or in aprevious thread the Lady has excersised her perogative.
  14. A line of wired up Turdisses comes to mind. http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2010-04/portable-battery-runs-saltwater-%E2%80%93-or-urine

  16. I'd suggest if you want a 4x4 for family use. Look at Subaru, the Volvo XC range, New they are much cheaper and second hand can be very cheap.
  17. Good thing is, they aren't likley to breed! :-D
  18. Boot laces? Dear Friend! What do you think BALER TWINE is for? So aying I was given as an 18th birthday present an old straight six Vauxhall Velox ex military staff car. That had a three gear coloum shift that was tied togethr with boot lace. The best one I've seen was an old long line dredge used at a sandpit. 'It runs on 10 p pices'.:wow::wow::wow: Sure enough start procedure was place 10 p coin acros starter terminals.
