  1. Here is a link to the WW2 Dodge forum that has a comprehensive list of Military History related museums in Germany and Europe, including links to the Munster Tank museum http://forum.ww2dodge.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=12386
  2. The film sequence is not really any help, its about uncovering a Series E Morris 8 tourer thats been in a garage for years, the so called expert who uncovered it did not even really know what the car was, thought it was possibly ex RAF because it had been painted a blue/grey colour ..rather unlikely as there were no markings or anything to indicate a military connection
  3. Post about a genuine Austin 10 Staff car, the actual car pictured in Bart Vanderveen's Fighting vehicles directory, revised edition. http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?31012-austin-10-1939-staff-car&p=348267#post348267
  4. The Dennis Max was built from the 1930's as a civilian truck, it was supplied to the Military through WW2 and civilian production started after the war and ran into the 1950's. There are several copies of the handbook on Ebay, some pre war, comparing your book to the pre war copy I am guessing from the style of print and the higher publication number, your handbook is from the 1950's This is a 1938 handbook http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DENNIS-MAX-CHASSIS-4cyl-C-I-ENGINE-INSTRUCTION-BOOK-WORKSHOP-MANUAL-Dec-1938-/231482563535?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item35e56f9bcf http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DENNIS-Max-Chassis-Instruction-Book-with-CI-Engine-Publication-No-C218-/271799314012?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f4880665c

  11. I gave up with my gas fridge and now have two Waeco fridges a portable CDF 18 and CR50 fridge in my campervan, Excellent products the CDF18 has run a for a week at a time on a large 12 volt battery at w&p no problem, it freezes down very quickly and then can be set to a level where the compessor cuts in infreqently, yes the temperature is adjustable from a freezer to chiller thus using very little power, running on 24 volt I would think a very small battery drain, even turning it off at night it maintains low temperature, they are not affected by outside air temperature, very quiet running and evidently very reliable, the CDF 11 you mention is very small capacity worth thinking about the CDF 18, they are on Ebay new from £300,.. well worth it http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Waeco-Dometic-CDF-18-portable-compressor-fridge-freezer-New-/271703660848?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item3f42ccd930

  14. Any commercial vehicle manufactured pre 1960 is exempt from MOT test and can be driven on a pre 1999?C1 car licence if used as a show vehicle, used UNLADEN and can tow an Unladen trailer, and a maximum of 8 passengers, this applies to later vehicle too. Post 1960 manufactured vehicles need a test, and if under 7.5T GVW can be driven on same C1 car licence, the maximum weight allowed. An RL is 8.5 tons? Gross Vehicle Weight, I think its a fairly easy job to downrate it to under 7.5t GVW probably just remove the helper springs? the subject has been discussed on here before, btw. VOSA test fees for a 2 axle HGV is £112
  15. Don't know if this is still for sale, an ex Home Office Bedford http://www.classiccarshq.co.uk/ads/for-sale-bedford-rl-4x4-1957/ or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bedford-rl-Airport-Crash-Tender-Fire-Engine-/121498852637?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CommercialVehicleParts_SM&hash=item1c49e55d1d

  19. A simple way to determine if a ww2 Jeep has been rebuilt with a reproduction (Phillipines made) body tub, apart from they look very straight with no apparent dents anywhere, is to simply run fingers around the inside of the channel section around the Top edge of the body Sides, if it is a sharp edge ..it usually cuts fingertips too! ....its most likely a reproduction tub. Original ww2 bodies have a double skinned channel section and relatively smooth edges with no burrs. There other differences but not so obvious if not familiar with the original body tub construction
  20. Seen at Brooklands museum, George Patton chatting to Winston Pics here
  21. It will sure make a fantastic house, with views over the Wash, and firing range too! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-30035596
  22. Definitely NOT a good idea, its one thing if want to carry your own children in the back thats your decision, or even carry sensible adults...but to carry Other peoples unrestrained Children! on unsafe side facing bench seats in the back of an unsuitable open RL cargo truck on the road! NOT a good idea! Check with your insurance company, I doubt if they would extend insurance cover for any passengers riding in the truck open back in the event of an accident, I suppose if you got all the other Parents to sign disclaimers... I don't think so. Due to the RL's weight, which is over 3.5tons gvw, its a heavy commercial goods vehicle regardless even if historic, you are restricted to a Driver and a Maximum of 8 passengers Only, to carry more you need a PSV (Bus/coach) licence, yes even for private non commercial use, it may seem a lovely innocent idea, ...what can possibly go wrong..lots
