  1. Hi, just passing on a question about the Welland Show from from the CMN website as I know nothing about tanks... The Hetzer made by Skoda for the Germans during WW2 is as rare as the proverbial rocking horse do-do as is the howitzer version, can anybody give me the correct identity for the howitzer version? Thanks, Rob.
  2. Found this link, thought it might be of interest... http://www.rosaproductions.co.uk/projects/greenham-war-and-peace/
  3. Taking a completely uneducated look at the photo from someone who knows nothing about tanks(!)... The two white dots could be a reflection of a lens or prism slightly set back from the aperture. Then if you stare at it for long enough the apertures could actually be convex, either covers or again, some sort of lens. Also, to the lower right of the turret there appears to be a large plate with 6 big rivets in it which looks like it would interfere with turret rotation. Sorry, that's the best I can offer.
  4. I would take a guess at David Brown tractor underwear and a Boughton winch?
  5. Link to a 6v-71, my go to link if you've not experienced one before.
  6. There's a nice little Detroit on Fleabay. Hearing aids are available via the NHS...
  7. A Metcalf with what looked like a Chieftain on board on the A37 going to the Bath and West Showground.
  8. It's a shame they didn't unload these, put alongside the Commanders they'd have been a good lineup. I'd never realised how much of a good fit the Chieftain was on those trailers. These are at Truckfest Newbury.
  9. You don't see any for ages, then two come along at once!
  10. Found this thread by chance, some good pics of a MAN and Foden getting a workout and earning their keep. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/large-equipment/56541-timber-transport.html
  11. Probably not connected but Bracknell fire station had a 64 reg 3 axle Zetros parked in their yard today in full fire fighting kit. One of those 'Concorde' moments where something looks absolutely perfectly designed for what it's intended to do. No pics unfortunately as nowhere to park but if that's where it lives then I'll be waiting for the opportunity.
  12. Firstly, apologies for the photo sizing, don't know what went wrong there. There was a detail card with the QL but the only bit I remember was that it was exmil, then at Morecombe Fire Station. The Zetros is apparently Australian Army although how it ended up at a truck show in the UK is anyone's guess. The lowloader and handler are RAF. Shame they were put in such a position that after 20 minutes had completely defeated me on getting a decent pic! Who decided that plywood was a good idea to stop that lot sinking into the grass???:wow:
  13. A while ago I did find one of these in a scrap yard in Somerset. civy reg no., and I was told it had a 1600cc diesel in it. Don't ask me where the yard was as I have no idea, but I do know there was three yards next to each other belonging to different members of the same family! Might jog someones memory?
  14. That feels a bit ghoulish, I seem to remember several fatalities in that one.
  15. Differs very much from the norm. Makes me wonder about the builders history or family connections with that era or scenario.
  16. 7/4, a Jeep traveling between Fleet and Yateley. Determined looking driver in the front, spaniel loving every second of it in the back!
  17. I've heard rumors that there will be a flypast by Lancaster over the Derwent Dam on the 18th of June. Time etc. unsure at the moment.
  18. Thanks guys. I was sure someone would know the answer. I didn't see that front on view, not that it would have made any difference to my vehicle spotting abilities. I now need to go study MUTTs.
  19. Just watching (well, it was on in the room!) MIB3 and I'm sure I saw the US military police turn up on the beach at Cape Canaveral in what looked like Mini Mokes. I know it was supposed to be 1969 but I'd have thought even from a film production/props point of view that Jeeps would have been easier to source?
  20. Interesting, I would have thought the Jeep fraternity would have far outweighed any interest in anything British! I was under the impression that WD was now the most watched car show following the apparent demise of TopGear, although I did read somewhere that Ed China's garage was in trouble. Strange that they would need to crowd fund another series.
  21. Just watched an episode of Wheeler Dealers from their US series where they are working on a LR 109. Seen this a couple of times now and I've only just realised this truck appears to have exMil bumpers front and rear, exMil lights all round, extra oil cooler, a UJ on the rear, and clear traces of black/green camo paint on the bodywork and wheels. I would love to know it's history and how it ended up in Los Angeles. Anyone know any more? Apologies if it's been disgussed before but a search said 'no'!
  22. At the Tractor World show at Newbury (oct 8/9) there is a gathering of these marking their 80th anniversary. It'll be interesting to see if any service paint schemes/markings show up.
