  1. This has probably been seen before; but was going through some First World War stereo-views and came across this one which may be of interest. Does anyone know any more about it? And are those buses in the background or something else? thanks
  2. You can access the mobile version of the website on the app Tapatalk. That app houses lots of forums and you choose which ones you want to follow, in this case HMVF. So basically you need to download tapatalk to access the mobile version of this site.
  3. I believe welbike wheels had 20 spokes from memory. Also the original tyres fitted would be Dunlop Carriers. So it is unlikely an original but would probably be usable as a replacement. Both black and red are paint is common on welbikes so there is a possibility it was used on one
  4. Been spending the weekend on the bike. Got it started a couple of times for around 30secs. The last times I got a fuel leak and resealed the joints and I havent been able to start it since. Wilk have another go tomorrow. Feeling strain tonight from all that kicking over! Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
  5. Will try to check up on the numbers later this week. And thanks again Wally! Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
  6. Many thanks to you both! means I can start getting some paint and make a start on getting some bits done. From what I have seen in some photographs the hard top is all green and so is the engine, rad and air filter black and the dash is white or cream. Is this right? Thanks
  7. Does anyone happen to know whether the green colour Gipsys were is Deep Bronze Green or something else?
  8. Just wondering if anyone can help id this which I picked up today. Ive seen similar ones for tools, maps or correspondence but wasnt sure if this was the same. Many thanks Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
  9. Latest project has arrived. Bought it off of someone who has done a lot of the major welding but as you can see there is still a lot to do. Its an ex home office, hard-top, SWB petrol and did run several years back apart from one valve. Anyway heres a few pictures:
  10. Thanks Dave. Got most of it sorted after scouring the web for all sorts of info and compiling it. Just need to decide on the oil to use and get a battery really Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
  11. Picked this up today, quite interesting and different from normal
  12. Been a while since I last worked on the BSA as the area it was kept in was not practical enough to undertake proper work. Now it is in a larger workshop where I can finally get a good run at it. Replaced the broken twist grip, added some new rubber grips, managed to undo the gearbox filler cap so the oil tank, battery holder and toolbox are back on the frame. Just drained the oil and replaced the sump gaskets.

  14. Hadn't realised that i never updated this for so long. I got it all done up and ready for War and Peace but unfortunately don't have any photos of it there or in its current condition, will have to take some at some point. Anyway I was very lucky to pick up a pair of Everest carriers at the car boot for the high sum of £10 the pair. Both '45 dated. My question is how are these fitted to the bike? I noticed a photo was posted earlier in this thread, do you just wrap some of the straps over the handlebars?
  15. Many thanks for all your help. Use with artillery shells was my first thought but there just didnt seem enough padding. It seems the most likely use though, many thanks.
  16. Picked this up at the car boot. Thought it was quite nice but have no idea what it is from. It is Air Ministry marked but seems to large for an aircraft. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Picked up several pairs of these recently, all dated 1944. Anyone happen to know their use?
  18. Got back a few hours ago and really enjoyed myself. Although there was some rain and thunder, it made a nice change from the constant heat and did not spoil the show at all ( Also prevented too much dust!). A very pleasant and calm long weekend and lots of interesting vehicles and people. Looking forward to next year.
  19. Don't have any pictures to hand but I thought i'd give an update. Rubbed it all down, primed, painted. Managed to get some springs to fit the brakes and made up some blocks. Basically I have been spending most evenings for the past few weeks getting it ready and i'm glad to say it is in a usable state for War and Peace, which should be useful
  20. Just found this thread, will most liely be able to do it if you want a vehicle on the smaller side! Again with the above I am down tomorrow so might not be able to catch the day/time etc.
  21. Just found these while browsing. Mounted on a vehicle of some kind. http://www.histomil.com/viewtopic.php?f=338&t=3918&start=160
