  1. Spent today collecting spares including engine, gearbox, chassis, head and starter
  2. Hi Gavin Glad I found out who got it. Was hoping it wasn't going to just disappear never to be seen or heard of again. Sounds good to me about keeping in touch. Glad it is going to a good home as it would have been a shame to break it but you definitely got a bargain!
  3. Had the chassis welded the other week. Needed a lot more replaced on the rotten crossmember than was expected as some other internal blistering had occured but a fantastic job was done which I could never even try to match! Have spent several days now chipping of the mass of underseal but is just about ready for a wire brush and a paint.
  4. Hi Rick. Might well be something I need in the future but probably not for a while as yet. Trying to focus on getting it back at the moment but I suppose I may be interested at the right price. Thanks
  5. May well be interested. There is no starter motor on mine so I would most likely be interested in that. Will have a better idea when it is home. Thanks Stuart!
  6. Thanks for your help so far Ivor! Will remember to take a trip to Tescos when it is finished then. Will definitely need some photos and that is probably the most local to me. Thanks Richard
  7. Hi All Gone into the deep end and decided to buy this Morris C9/B. This one is fairly complete although rough, it has all the jacks and most of the panels to make a pattern from. A Bofors gun was also included in the sale (no photos as of yet). This is not the one that was on Milweb although I did try to purchase that one to attempt to make one out of two (the Milweb one was arguably better) but someone beat me to it! More information to come, for now any hints, tips or details would be greatly appreciated. Currently working on getting it and the Bofors home.
  8. Started spraying the body. After a couple of days it is starting to come together. Just need to keep it safe until I need it.
  9. Wish I was but not going to happen Maybe another year
  10. Started painting some engine bits no it wasn't me who got paint on the engine tags. Unfortunately that was done before at some time.
  11. Thanks for the encouraging words! There has been a lot of work done to the body (not by me) which is brilliantly done. Chassis wise there is one cross member that needs replacing but other than that seems fine. Windscreen is possibly repairable but beyond me. Doors, tailgate etc rusted through at the bottom but mostly solid. Not sure how strong the hard top is still as it looks quite rusty on certain joints but I'm not worrying about that yet. A lot of work but should get there in the end
  12. All sorted now i hope. Took the head off and reground it. See the Austin Gipsy restoration thread. Thanks all for the help
  13. This afternoons task was to sort the stuck valve. Removed rockers and head, then tapped the valve back, then removed the valve and cleaned it before replacing it and the head with the new head gasket. Also adjusted the valve gaps to the correct gap. A long afternoon of work but worth it hopefully!
  14. Thanks all so far. Yes the one that is open is the stuck valve (centre of first photo). Rocker is free it is definitely the valve itself stuck. Will most likely soak it as suggested in diesel or something similar. Thanks all!
  15. I have now got to the point on the Gipsy where i would like to sort the stuck valve. I was told that it was stuck and can now see it for myself. Before I go ahead probably damaging things what would you recommend doing to sort the problem? I'm guessing the head has to be removed in order to grind the valve in but would like to know if there are other techniques that may well be better. Also are there any other things I have to take into consideration that may be damaged as a result of this? Many Thanks
  16. I think it might be the right strap. Can't see any other marks where another strap has been unstitched
  17. Picked up this bag at W&P in a £1 pile. Don't know what it is for but seemed worth a pound. The only ideas me and others can think of is perhaps for 3" mortar rounds? Does anyone happen to know what it is for? Thanks in advance
  18. They certainly seem good to drive but it may still be a while before I drive this one. I am currently putting together a long list of bits I need so will be getting in touch with Gipsy Spares or a similar parts supplier shortly but currently need to regain funds.
  19. Again I still haven't had the chance to properly update this in time with the work being done. I was in a bit of a rush to get the engine out before W&P as I have now started working and therefore have less time. Anyway bottom of the body has been primed and painted in black but some areas need to be redone. Wiring was removed and other attached bits to the engine. I then managed to crane the engine out. Just need to remove the clutch to fit it onto the engine stand. Edit: forgot to add I had the opportunity to drive a Gipsy at W&P so that has motivated me further
  20. However bad the weather was at times I still had a brilliant week. Was good to speak to Clive, Jack, Lex and as always Enigma as well as some others. Lots of mud, dust and oil to clean off the BSA but was all worth it. Spent too much money as usual but thats why I go. Looking forward to next year!
  21. It has been raining a fair bit you could say.... Just a bit of thunder and lightning mixed in there too
  22. Currently a steady very light rain. Only heard it rain once in the night and that was fairly light and lasted 10-15 minutes unless I slept through it all!
  23. Getting all ready today for an early set off tomorrow tomorrow. Supposed to be a better day then
  24. Been getting a lot done over the past few days or so. Rubbed the body down and gave a coat of primer. Then managed to get the body off on my own using an engine crane which took rather a long time and several attempts but means I can get on with engine, chassis and underside of the body. This afternoon I started chipping off underseal which is another long process. Lots of small jobs have been done over previous weeks such as master cylinders, bonnet and other small parts
  25. Thanks all for the info! Thanks for the offer, I may well be interested at some point. There are a couple of people locally that say they may have some but depending on price I might be interested if you were willing to part with them.
