  1. So now it's the Canadians not the Americans preventing us from scrapping them? Thanks for clearing that up... And you have some photos of tanks three years before they were buried? I dare say I do, too... And "Patience"...? Of course, we wait with bated breath... ๐Ÿคฃ
  2. I'm probably missing something here, but Churchills weren't in any way lend/lease as far as I know, so why would it matter to the US whether we scrapped them or not? Or did you say that they were buried as another one of Mr Churchill's mythical 'reserves' hidden away for the 'next war' - I forget. Also as an an archaeologist who has some experience of dealing with contaminated sites, I can guarantee that if anyone's run a magnetometer or ground-penetrating radar across the site, then they will have discovered Caesar's lost armoured division. The same goes for any boreholing & trial pitting that is usually undertaken as a matter of course on any brown-field site that destined for residential use...
  3. Looking the business now! ๐Ÿ‘
  4. What we really need is Scooby Doo & the gang - they'd get to the bottom of the mystery! ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
  5. Absolutely beautiful work!
  6. 007 plots have more credibility, I feel! Still, he's getting attention, so I dare say he's happy in spite of being on a government hit-list...
  7. Got to be Master Milo! The only reason to dislike the weekend is there's no Werkplaatsvlog on Saturday & Sunday.
  8. Adolfโ€™s compensator... ๐Ÿ˜‰
  9. Definite similarities, I thought - I did wonder, given its unusual shape, whether it had been re-purposed from another vehicle for use on the M42, but I've found nothing to back that up so far.
  10. Could be way wide of the mark, but there seems to be a very similar-looking box on the rear of the M42 Duster. Kevin https://www.net-maquettes.com/pictures/m42-duster/#gallery[photonic-flickr-set-1]/9450067420/
  11. This is the beast in question - there's a picture about halfway down on the right that shows the operating lever that prompted the nickname. Kevin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1895_Coltโ€“Browning_machine_gun
  12. I did find this photo (third post down) just after I posted above, but I don't think it was a particularly common occurrence. https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/173218-ww1-military-motors-1916-set-x-50-cards/page/43/
  13. Just a thought - weren't the Motor Machine Gun Batteries armed with Vickers guns? I don't think I remember seeing a British combo armed with a Lewis gun before. I note that the Belgians used the Lewis as well though, including on some of the Minervas I think, so could the bike combo also actually be Belgian?
  14. Not sure about "anti aircraft lorry", to be honest - that looks like a Belgian Minerva armoured car to me.
  15. I would imagine that German artillery would have had a field day with that if it was an observation post (or at least one close enough to any action to see anything useful)! Wasn't it the usual idea that the observers or other messengers close to the front (balloon or terrestrial) had a pigeon basket with them with a few birds & then said birds would fly messages back to their 'home' loft (like this one) which would then essentially function as an 'exchange', routing information to the intended recipients? Kevin
  16. The Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway at Skegness has a number of WDLR wagons: http://lclrhvt.bravesites.com/
  17. Mary Poppins - the unsuccessful audition... ๐Ÿ˜‚
  18. If the new museum has any space constraints, then it would probably also be more flexible as an exhibit if it was made of wood or similar - if it was a policy to periodically change the items on display, then moving a range wreck, a static, cosmetically-restored 'original' or even an unpowered new-build replica in mild steel or whatever isn't necessarily going to be a simple matter. If you're also going to display railway rolling stock, then this may be something you've already taken into account, but worth bearing in mind. Kevin
  19. Yes Paul, and the operative word in what I wrote was "If", so thank you for clarifying matters, but no "pessimistic view of the StuG and its owner" was made nor implied, I trust you'll concede. As an onlooker to yet another apparent TM bashing thread (StuGs & their maltreatment seems to be the soup du jour at present, it appears), I was simply stating a possible reason (in my own admitted ill-informed opinion) for the reported reluctance of the TM to continue with hosting an externally owned vehicle. It appears I was wrong, which is absolutely fine by me - it's a poor day that goes by when you can't say you've learned something... Kevin
