    Thanks M for all this, it has been really useful. I also noticed in your last photo the black out sheilds on the head lights another interesting feature. Started striping her down last night (the GPW !) ready for the transformation. will post photos when finished. Jules

    Thanks Guys that a great start, thanks Steve I don't know a lot about the USAAF, I've always stuck to RAF, but i wanted my jeep to represent the 384 BG because a few years ago we dug up the remains of a B17, 42 5852 called 'The Natural', she crashed on the way back from a raid. the site is very near to my home. I don't know the squadron ? Jules

    Hi Chaps I'm finally getting around to giving my 42 GPW a brithday, and want to repaint her as a Unitied States Army Air Force Jeep, but I have several questions. Fristly I want her to represent a vehicle used by the 384th Bomb Group based at Grafton Underwood, so what marking should i have on the bumpers ? also would the hood number have had 'U.S.A.A.F' above or the standard 'U.S.A.' ? would she have had the star on the hood ? Lastly, can anyone post any photos of jeeps in simular markings or indead any USAAF jeeps ? Thanks for your help Jules

    No, did not use it in the end, have taken the box out for a full rebuild ! Lets do it the propper way ! Jules

    Is it worth trying this Slick 50 in a GPW gearbox ? most times very hard to get into gear. do you think it will help ? Cheers Jules

    Ian, It is easy to pick up a post war tunic and convert it to look like a wartime one. I have many original Wartime RAF uniforms, quite happy to show you them. Cheers Jules

    Quick question, please, I have a nice Butler blackout cover to fit on my WOT2, I've noticed that many vehicles only had one fitted ? is this correct and if so which side ? Jules

    Guys, having just driven my M3 20 miles tonight, I noticed that the passenger side drive axle hub is very hot, almost certainly brake bind, niether other side, nor the front axle wheels are hot. So, without stripping the whole unit down, do you think I could just back off the concenteric ajusters? and if I do what direction do I turn them, Its not as if I can just 'spin' the hub to check ! Any help would be great Jules

    I've just bought this nice Drivers Instruction Book for an RAF Commer W.B. Tractor. These would have pulled the famous Queen Mary aircraft trailers. Now, my question is, how many of these are still about ? I've found two photos one original with a nice Hurricane on it and a restored one, anyone know who it belongs to ? I would dearly like one of these, and coupled with a QM and an a/c fuselage would make a fantastic display. Whats out there ? Commers ? trailers ?

    Yep, I'll second that, I always smear gasket sealant around both sides of the gasket, you only want to do the job once! Jules
