  1. Both very interesting links, thanks, the home made battery on you tube still looks complicated ! By the way it is a Mk4 that I have. Jules
  2. Thanks everyone thats answered my question, but if anyone else has any pictures of vehicles in the UK with bridge plates, please share them Jules
  3. I have recently aquired one of these from a fellow member, does anyone know what batteries they take or how easy they are to get to work ? I doubt it's as effective as my C-Scoope ? but would be nice to get it to 'fire' up. Jules
  4. Can anyone tell me if British Military Vehicles used in this country during WW2 had to show Bridge Weight Plates, or was it just abroard ? Jules
  5. Yes, there are several Cockpit sections about in private hands, one of the best restored examples is Roger Marley's at Sleap airfield. Back in the mid 80's there was a lot of Typhoon componants dug up from the Cirencester area. I was part of the dig team and what we recovered was only the tip of the iceburg, sadly all to late now, all still burried under the 'Cotswold water Park' Greatest problem with any 'full' restoration is the Engine, a Napier Sabre. rarer than hens teeth, and even if you did find one in a barn, the CAA would never let you fly with it ! I know, i have been down that road ! I'll add a photo of Rogers later. Jules
  6. Thanks 79x100 Thats interesting. What i want to confirm is that as a R.E unit it would have the company markings, i.e No.2 on a Blue square ? Any more info ? Jules
  7. Can anyone direct me in how i should mark my Jeep, Humber and Norton, as Royal Engineers Bomb Disposal. I know the wings of the Humber should be red, I'm going to paint the front Bumper and rear bumperettes red on the Jeep. and maybe the front mud guard on the Norton 16h But how do i display the correct markings, i want to deplict No2 BD company at Balham in London ? How on each vehicle ? Cheers Jules
  8. Any one else have any Bomb Disposal Vehicle photos ? original or restored vehicles ? Jules
  9. Thank you Ivor That's really interesting and helps a lot, interesting to see the two aircrew officers posing with that Bomb ! Regards Jules
  10. can anyone post some pictures of WW2 RAF Bomb Disposal Vehicles Please, original or restorations............................. Jules
  11. Can any one fill in the details between the RAF Bomb disposal and the Royal Engineers Bomb disposal ? did the RAF only work on bombs dropped on thier Airfields ? Ideally I want to restore my 1942 Humber FWD as a Bomb Disposal vehicle, linked to RAF. any suggestions of markings, colours etc Cheers Jules
  12. Just to add a bit of context, the M3 bought at Beltring was mine, Tobin Jones bought it originally, then after 2 years sold it to me, I enjoyed owning for 6/7 years until deciding that i'd rather go down the WW2 British line of vehicles, so as he knew it was one of the best on the scene, had it back off me earlier this year after 'starring' at Trucks & Troops. He had not intended to sell it on so quickly, but a good offer was made. She really was/is a great vehicle, never let me down once. Good luck ! Jules
  13. Thanks Guys, your all right, i need to do it properly. 79x100, i got the 14bhp from a web page on 16h's ! Cheers Jules
  14. Hello Guys Having now been able to play with the Norton and BSA at Beltring a bit, well, the BSA, as I broke the Norton within the first day ! But with some great help from one of our North Oxford and Cotswolds MVT member, we got the M20 running after 20 odd years of not ! I must say, i have been bitten by the bug, and am considering taking my Bike test just so i can ride one on the road. Whilst looking into the procedure of taking a test, i was informed that if the bike was 'old' and was below 14.6 BHP then i could ride it on a provisional licence, all be it with 'L' plates, The Norton's BHP is 14, although it is a 500cc bike. The Law states for a provisional licence the bike has to be either 125cc or below 14.6 BPH So, although it would spoil the look to have 'L' plates at least thats a start until i take my full test in the future ? Any comments on this ? is this correct or do i have the wrong end of the stick ? Cheers Jules
  15. Sorry if this is repeating..................but just what is new on the market as a good looking replacement for 900 x 16 Dunlop Trackgrip tyres ? We all want something that looks like trackgrips, what do you suggest and where is a good supplier ? Jules

  17. Can anyone tell me if i fitted a side car to my 1940 16h, would i be able to ride it under a car 3 wheeler licence ? Jules

  19. Trouble with my 1942 Humber FWD Water pump, anyone have a spare or recommend anyone who may have Humber spares ? needs to be the twin pully type. Also wanted a twin pully for the Generator. Any clues ? Would like to get it sorted before Beltring if poss! Cheers Guys Jules
  20. I'm going Saturday Not sure if I will take my WOT2 or my Humber FWD....................but see you there Jules
  21. I have used the available sticky back stencils, not overly impressed, i always find that the first sheet peals off fine, then place it on the paint work, but try pealling off the top paper ! I always think that it is too sticky, just pulls the thin plastic from the paint work, especially when applying to a matt finish paint . I have just about managed it in the past, and when eventually stuck down, i use a 4 inch throw away gloss roller with quick drying white primer/undercoat works fine eventually. Jules
  22. I like the idea of Gloss first then Matt, but do you have to rub the gloss over to key it for the top coat of matt ? Jules
  23. Love the first Picture Keith, any details of where it was taken and date ? somewhere in the south with 11 group i see. Jules
