  1. Hi Ross All I can add is that I have an old complete front axle from a Quad if you are interested ? Jules
  2. The engine number for the Norton is W46562 Nearly had it going the other night, i think the carb want a good clean out. I like the Norton out of the two, especially as it is 1940 Am i correct in thinking that the RAF used a lot of these type ? Thank you for your valuations, they are just about what I thought. Thanks for your help Jules
  3. Yes, and the BSA, now all i need to do is get then going ! (never dabled in motorbikes before !) both are complete, i would honestly say they need some light cosmetic restoration, the original gren logs show the Norton was registered as SZ4 981 in Ireland back in the mid 1980's the BSA was /is registered as JZ2 655 and was first registered in 1949 Do you think they could still be registered ? Any ideas of values ? They are lovely and look great as a static display, but i would love to see them ridden. Jules
  4. If the Norton really is 80 YB 83 then it should have frame number W8334 and was converted from the wartime number C4153502. It was struck off strength on 28/9/56 so had seen some considerable post-war service and is likely to have some more recent parts reflecting that but it doesn't seem to have been badly got at in civilian life. Thats Spot on 79x100, the frame number is W8334, interestingly the original green log book states date of first registration 29/9/56. Thanks for that information, i'll post some pictures soon. Jules
  5. talking of cracked tyres, i am desperate for 3 more 900 x 16 british track grip tyres for my Morris CS8, I have some good ones but I also have 3 quite worn, these are Dunlop Runflats. My question is does anyone still re cut tyre treads like they used to ?, those old tyres are so thick that surely they could be re cut ? anyone still do it ? Jules
  6. I have to say, that although i agree with the comments about a decline in attendance, my wife and i, and a good few friends from the North Oxfordshire MVT have been attending from the first show, i must say that we have come to think of it as a chill out weekend, where else could you camp for free for upto 5 days in such lovely settings ? Yes, it costs us fuel, but if you can't afford to run these vehicles there no point owning them ! The Road run was very good, very well organised, the despatch riders were excellent also. Shame about the weather......................but thats England! We'll be there next year too ! Jules
  7. Thanks Chaps, and thanks to Robert, woa2, for yet again helping me out ! Jules
  8. Hi chaps Having driven my WOT 2 to her first display of the season, a very smart Garden Center, very nice pedestrian paved frontage, where we were alloed to park several ww2 military vehicles for the day. I've never had the slightest dribble from anywhere on the old girl, several other members were busy with drip trays or newspapers !. 5 pm arrives and we all pack up and i head home the 6 miles, just aproaching my village, i noticed oil squrting from the botom of the oil filter pot ( sits in the Cab), checked Oil pressure and that showed zero ! oh dear, so i carried on going, more and more oil pooling in the cab, within 4 miniutes i was pulling up on the drive, oil dripping everywhere ! Thank goodness it did not happen on the way to the show, or even as I pulled onto the paved area! At least the old girl got me home and bar the mess on the drive did not cause embaresment at the Garden Center ! The cause................................................. a tiny pin prick hole in the base of the filter pot, must have been a rust spot that finally gave in to the pressure ! So, anyone got a new one for sale ? Jules
  9. Hello Guys Last night i spent about two VERY frustrating hours trying to fit the Clutch release barring fork in place through the flywheel apature on the bell housing! I lost count of how many times I dropped it to the bottom and had to fish it out ! Having just rebuilt the box and re fitted it, i thought it would be easy, however it apears not! Can anyone confirm that it is actually possible to get this fork behind the two lugs and on the ball mount, then actually connect the cable..................all through trhis oval hole ?? OR has the whole transmission got to come out again ?? Jules
  10. Tim No, it's not on a master cylinder switch. on my last one i managed to fit a lever type microswitch so that when the pedal was depressed it made contact. just cant remember how i fitted it ! Jules
  11. Hi Guys Just thinking of how i can fit a brake light pedal switch.................... can any of you fellow C8 owners post a pic of how yours is fitted ? I know I fitted on on my old C8 , but I can not remeber how I fixed it.................. Cheers Jules

  14. Thanks guys, I'm not dissapointed, I always like a challenge, and will certainly take my time to get it right. my very good mate, Tobin Jones has a lovely Humber FWD which i have driven on many occassions and fell in love with. I will copy his back body, and bring this Humber back to scratch! Anzac, thanks for the info on the chassis number, good to know that ties up ok. Tim..................... are you saying you would swap your 8cwt ? for a MCC CS8 ? Jules
  15. I'm not sure either...............except I have just bought this Humber ! collecting it in a couple of weeks. if it is original, then it is rare, if it is a lashup, i'll replace it with the correct PU type. Jules

  19. Hi Guys Well some of you may have seen that nice 1943 Humber FWD for sale in Lisbern, well I have bought it and am planning on collecting it in a few weeks, I have a mad idea of driving it back via southern Ireland down to Wexford and ferry across to Fishguard, then home. A total trip of 400 miles ! Anyway, my question is this, a private seller, so cash on collection...............are there any legal issues i need to be awhere of ? it is road taxed in NI, it is MoT free. Any taxes to pay ? I may be stupid, but..............................any advise chaps............... Jules
  20. Hi Rick, What made you chose 457 Sqn ? As for markings, thats a hard one, I guess very simular to RAF, but with the sqn code 457 on the bumper. Are you having it OD or going for the Blue/grey ? Jules
  21. WOW, that looks great, they never usually survive in that condition, good luck. will look forward to more photographs. Jules
  22. Does anyone have a spare knob for the 4 wheel drive selector stick in the C8, it is a round knob that you need to twist and push down, i have the stick, just need the Ally top ? Thanks Jules
  23. Thanks for all your help chaps, Keith, I have wired it as per the C8 diagram, however, i have not connected into the generator yet, so perhaps it needs that connection to complete the circuit ? Will get it finished this week . Jules
  24. Hi Chaps Just getting round to wiring my 1944 Morris C8 It has as standard to all British Vehicles the CAV ignition / lighting switch unit on the Dash. I think I have wired it properly, but when turning on the ignition switch (which works correctly) the red warning light does not glow, ,I have checked the bulb and that is ok, can anyone post a wiring diagram for one of these please ? Thanks Jules
