Your not wrong, the Char came back when building was complete. It had been originally used by the Germans on the Island so had some relevence. There is a Kubelwagon in air-con storage held by the Guernsey war tunnels trust/museum.

Your vehicles wouldn't look out of place, as there are quite a few post war vehicles in the display. It's a nice show except when it rains.

I don't think foreign governments, bar the major arms dealers have got the same mind set about selling off surplus. Also depends on deals made with the manufacturer. Land Rover/MOD might have insisted on scrapping at end of service life so not to flood a potential market for new vehicles. I have the MOD Disposals Policy, and it is sell sell sell, as you are probably aware when looking at Withams/Jacksons et al.

Sharky, they are available, they have fits and bursts of price fluctuations. At present they are about £150. try the British Ordnance Collectors forum. Or if desperate, i can ask a friend of mine who seems to be able to source ordnance. pm if interested.

I am in awe at the standard of conservation and reconstruction of vehicles such as this.
