  1. Actually I would say they are P-51A or A-36 as they have 3 blade props. The lack of a fin fillet is not indicative of P-51D as early ones did not have it.
  2. A lot of the surviving D4s, especially 2T models are ex-military together with D8 8R, D7 3T, 4T and 7M.
  3. This is the page John was talking about. It lists the D2 as a class V tractor, my listings go from I to IV with the latter being 'up to 35 dbhp'. This would include D2 in theory but I suspect class V was found to be too light for most jobs and were phased out. I have never seen a wartime picture of a British Army D2, does anybody have one?
  4. The carved figures in the Piazetta known as The Tetrarchs?
  5. Gotcha. You could e mail them to me and I'll post them if you like. PM sent.
  6. I think that only applies to pictures that are someone elses copyright. A 1954 government textbook is fair game I say! I would like to see the picture, I have the 1962 issue and D4 is the smallest tractor shown.
  7. You don't have to be from Thailand to find my sense of humour baffling.......
  8. Doug, (a) is correct. I think of it as right stick gives a clockwise rotation viewed from above and left an anti-clockwise. This applies in all situations and helps if you drive different vehicle types regularly. (b) is a load of rubbish as you suspected!
  9. You don't own a white Persian cat do you....? Nice find, now all you need is some rail......
  10. I would agree with the shell, looks like a 25 pr base eject smoke. The roller is from a crawler though, not an AFV. The only tank that has similar rollers is a Churchill and it's definately not from that. I would suggest Cat D7.
  11. No, it's not. It left Germany three or four years ago.
  12. As far as I know, just standard for Jeep and not radio but Jeeps are not my subject so I'm not sure. They are Klixon auto reset and they will have their rating stamped on the rectangular pad between the terminals. They come in 5, 10, 15 and 20 amp ratings.
  13. It's two circuit breakers, goes under the dash.
  14. I told Jack we should recce the route first!
  15. B-17F-VE 42-5852 547th BS 384th BG SO-T crashed Chetwade 14th October 43 after Schweinfurt raid.
  16. I found a selection of lingerie in the fuel tank of my Cat D4....... none of it fitted me. :embarrassed:
  17. Andy, welcome to the forum. I was very interested to read your post, for obvious reasons. I would very much like to see your photos of the tanks, I am always hopeful of finding one of mine. Capt. Clapperton was troop leader of 2 troop, his wireless station was 6. Your dads tank, APACHE, T189521, was an original 1st RTR tank and was a 75mm Cromwell IV. It's commander was Sgt G McKee. ACHILLES, T189511 was also an original IV and was knocked out on 14th June. ALEXANDER and ASSASSIN were replacement tanks. I hope to soon see some pictures from Capt. Clapperton, your dad may be amongst them. If you could get some copies of your dads photos of the tanks, I would be very grateful and of course cover any costs. Posting them here would be great too! Adrian
  18. Very interesting, there is no way a smoke grenade could be described as a stabilised missile! As they say, it would be for a court to decide but the court would take that wording as guidance in any decision.
  19. I supplied a final drive for that many years ago, never did get to play with it.......
  20. It looks like with the kit you have I'm unlikely to get the job....... I'll dig out my drawings. Can I sell you a couple of catches? :cool2:
  21. To be fair, he is quoted as stating it is the only one in the UK so either he is unaware of any others which seems unlikely or the reporter made it up. (much more likely)
  22. Truth ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------a good story often far apart!
