  1. Might be able to help you with mechanical spares & some body panels such as doors ? I have a few bits.
  2. Brave Brave man  I looked at that QLT in 2011 & walked away from it, from what I remember its a lot lot worse condition than the photos show ? he wanted £1200 for it then. Bought a QLD soon after that needed restoring & then an Austin K5
  3. The toolbox padlock key was missing so I carefully removed the lock in-case it can be repaired at a later date, I was amazed when I opened the lid & found a complete tool kit & spares all sealed up & as good as new condition. What a find.
  4. I won 3 more engines in Northumberland 'blind' on ebay for £150 the lot a few weeks back & they were delivered by 'Shiply' yesterday so I had not seen them until then. 2 engines are only fit for spares & do they have 1960 rebuild plates on them but the 3rd engine is NOS & still all wrapped up in sticky cloth, even the plus caps have been pulled off & wrapped individually.
  5. Possibly with a vehicle ? otherwise yes as a day visitor.
  6. I went as a day visitor yesterday (1st year without a vehicle there) so through the eyes of a 'member of public' it was pretty good & I think it will get better next year once re-enactors, stall holders & vehicle owners realise this is a good show again. It was crammed to the gunnels with vehicles, it needs Medway Field opened up for camping & Americas to be green again. Americas field was the best laid out with more room ? road ways in better condition & it didn't smell like Monkton's. Toilets never bothered me before as we took our own & there seemed to be enough there except they were all bunched up rather than spreading them out over the whole site. Its was great to meet up with so many friends again & I did find some real gems regarding vehicle/motorcycle parts. I don't see a problem considering its a cheep weeks holiday £25 + £10 per person ? this is a mates camp, its not really aimed at the public.
  7. Where was Kitchener's field ? the programme only shows Medway, Americas Field, Little Monkton's (living History) Big Monkton's (living History) & Outer Monkton's
  8. Hi guys I'm after a Morris C8 engine for my 1944 C8, preferably a runner but anything considered ASAP as I would like to get her to the Victory show in September. I have 2 short engines which are ok for spares or trade but possibly gone too for a rebuild ? The engine in her knocked out #4 big-end on the way back from W&P last year. Any leads please :
  9. Hi guys thanks for your input but I've decided against this tent for several reasons, colour, quality ? price & too small for 2 people for more than a weekend. Also I've been offered a slightly larger period tent in 'as new' condition for a fraction of the price. As for my 9x9 well I've never used it on a hard surface so that's not an issue & ill properly put that up for sale in the near future as its not WW2 period.
  10. Soldier of Fortune WW2 British Officers tent. http://www.sofmilitary.co.uk/british-officers-6-x-6-ft-2-man-tent-product,17576 I was thinking of buying one along with the fly sheet to keep in the back of the Humber 'Box' as its lighter, cleaner, more authentic & takes up less room than the 9x9 that I currently use. Has anyone get a second hand one forsale or owns one & has any observations regards quality etc.
  11. Hi Richard it was fine, left it hitched to the Morris & he lashed it with wheel straps on both vehicles & strapped the trailer axle down to the rear of the bed.
  12. I think a couple of forum members were after internals for their bowser restorations but I cant find the threads, hope this helps ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brockhouse-fuel-bowser-pump-and-Lister-A-type-engine-WW2-/322567211861?hash=item4b1a810b55:g:T-QAAOSwvjdZT9o-
  13. Look good Guy, did you receive my email with photos of the axle & wheels ?
  14. So 20cwt GS trailer #2 is now in colour & I've started fitting some of the iron work back on. This one is interesting as it has a front & rear tail gate like the modified post-war 10cwt Mortar / ammunition trailer so perhaps they did the same with some of the 20cwt trailers ? There was very little wood left but just enough to work out the size of the planks for the floor & sides.
  15. Just 'borrowed' this photo from Facebook, trust you wont mind Les ? :undecided:
  16. Yes please Jule's if not already sold, cheers.
  17. Amazing collection of British kit Tom :saluting:
  18. I've spent ages getting the measurements just right so that the spare wheel can stay on the tailgate when towing the m/cycle trailer & with the adjusable riser hitch on. I'm taking this adjustable hitch off my motorhome & when fitted the tailgate will open if the spare wheel is removed or can stay on as it 2 cms below the tyre.
  19. Knocking up a towbar for the 'Box' so that I can tow my British 10cwt GS trailer with a 28" hitch hight or the m/cycle trailer with a 14" hitch height. Removed the 2 rear lashing eyes, then welded 2 pieces of 30mm x 30mm stock together & ground a curve on one side of each so that they would feed down the chassis legs. Then cut a 120cms length of 76mm x 6mm tube so that its fits between them & tags that fit over. Next I will remove the bracket from a Transit tow bar & that will give me a mount for a drop plate or an adjustable hitch.
  20. Hi Jules yes that would be interesting, the speedo is way out as I'm running on 9:00 tyres rather than the 8.25 which have a much shorter rolling circumference. And an odd vibration, anyway we will meet one day.
  21. Why no front or upper turrets ? were these glider tugs ?
  22. Just received this post from the Short Stirling Forum LJ844 5G-E 299 Sqn. Survived the war to be struck off charge 5 Jun 47.
  23. What's the story behind the Christmas card ? I live about 2 miles from RAF Abingdon (now Dalton Barracks) & soon to be a housing estate
