  1. The Museum of Army Flying have loads so I suspect they have some spare parts ? https://www.armyflying.com/visiting/
  2. I think that's a Hamlicar Glider ?
  3. Dunkirk ! interesting that the bowser in the foreground is the large wheel type which is the same as mine but the box & pumps are at the rear and the filters / hoses / syphon's etc are at the front. Thanks to Guy66 for sending it to me.
  4. Theres a lot to be said for modern engines, like they dont break down anywhere near as often :blush:
  5. And the offending article, which is not for-sale as I will rebuild it later.
  6. And the Landrover engine that's going in, all stripped & ready for cleaning & painting MOWOG green :blush: can anyone tell me anything about this engine from the engine number such as year ? 3 or 5 bearing crank ? Series 2 2a or 3 ?
  7. Austin Sheerline clutch plate arrived a few days ago & fits nicely onto the Morris C8 1st motion shaft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austin_Sheerline
  8. Hi Robert I will take both if still for sale please PM sent
  9. Hi John all the spanner throwing has been done & Andy has ironed out all the flaws, I believe this will be the 3rd mating plate he's had laser cut so mine will be the 4th C8 on the road with this conversion ?
  10. Thank you Ruxy I was hoping you might post as I may need your extensive Landrover knowledge :thumbsup: This is not virgin territory, I met Andy last week at the Cobbaton VJ weekend with his C8 towing a medium size caravan & you would never know there was a Landy engine under the bonnet. He has already done the dirty donkey work for me & there should be an adapter plate & modified thermostat housing coming my way soon. Clutch has to be uprated to the larger series 3 flywheel / pressure plate & an Austin Sheerline friction plate to mate with the C8 gearbox, plus a new spigot bearing machined up. No cutting or welding to the C8 is required as the Landrover engine fits straight in, the engine mounts almost line up but adapters will need to be fabricated. Coolant hoses line up nicely, the exhaust drop straight down & mates with the C8 silencer, the carburettor sits nicely in the bay & the air tube tucks down the rear to the original location.
  11. #4 big-end bearing failed, may be others & they are white metal. Block corroded away wafer thin L/H rear corner which has caused 5 cylinder-head gasket failures. R/H block jacket cover (thin bolt on panel) leaking like a sieve & had many repairs. Plus the unknown :??? All jobs doable & not a scrap engine by a long shot but a lot of money even doing it myself & time which I don't have at the moment & space in the workshop which I also don't have at the moment.
  12. Hi John the answer is its not a headache, watch this space. P.S. I wont be selling the original C8 engine as it will be going back in at some point.
  13. Ok not for the faint hearted or those of a nervous disposition. I'm going to fit a Landrover 2.25 Petrol Series 3 (FFR ?) engine into my 1944 Morris C8 :thumbsup:
  14. Hi Andy welcome, I live just down the road from you in Abingdon
  15. Hi Andrew it was good to meet up at Cobbaton last weekend & I'm glad you took my advise & joined HMVF. I cant help with Jeep parts but I'm sure if you post some photos of the restoration & a list of parts plus help that you require I'm sure you will get a response. Regards Ian
  16. :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
  17. 3/10 it was rubbish
  18. Yes indeed Adrian, as far as I can tell this is a original WW2 tool kit as the last PU8 engine built was F24200 in 1945 (started in 1936ish) & this engines number is F13??? the other 2 engines are incomplete and have 1960s rebuild plates but this engine has never been unwrapped.
  19. Your photos look like a mixture of the one you rescued & the one that's still left in the yard ? I think if you spoke to the owner now you may be able to rescue the second one ? before it disappears in the crusher or the earth.
