  1. What is the difference between a Jeep combat rim and what I assume, is a standard rim? :?
  2. Thanks Clive, its on my Willys 1942 chassis, its got a British registration plate and an overhaul date of 3/53, the MTRS no. is B380, then inspection WV3 over the numbers 139. Thanks
  3. There were those couple on milweb a while back, spares or repair. Maybe you should swap bits around between the 2 so at least you have one working vehicle for alternate weekends!
  4. With a lot of help from Paul, he has confirmed my jeep with a date of approx 19th April 1942. Many thanks go to him for his work. It also bears the YH in the registration number which denotes a British use for the vehicle. It has a British chassis plate replacing the Willys plate which is a bit out of the ordinary, I dont know if anyone else has come across this? There will be a chassis up blog to follow on the restorations section. :-D
  5. Welcome aboard Kevin! Some real heavy metal. Good to have you here. Do you do transport? ;-)
  6. Fujifilm Finepix S5000. Was a good camera in its day a few years ago, but the way technology has gone with the prices, what cost £450 about 3 years ago you can now get for about £180 ish. Good all rounder thogh, never had any problems with it, even though sand from Swanage is still to be found in varios nooks and crannies on it! Question though. I always thought that having interchangable lenses on a digital camera was a downside. Reason being that if any trace of dust got on the light receptor bit, it was a bit of a disaster?
  7. What does MTRS stand for, I know its something to do with a rebuild, and is there a list somewhere of them?
  8. What sort of percentage increase did that put on the vehicle Nick?
  9. Cheap CCKW 353 with spare engine etc, in the MVT Greensheet. Only £2,000, seems very cheap!
  10. Tried finding Degsys article but couldnt. Could someone point me in the right directio. Thanks
  11. So a jeep with a reg no with a YH in it come be US or Brit? Or is the YH a post war reg?
  12. Were the registration numbers of British vehicles in WW2 different to the yank ones. For example on Brit vehicles it seems to be 2numbers followed by 2 letters, followed by 2 numbers.
  13. It doesnt do it if I space the letters. :dunno: :dunno:
  14. Its happened again! S c r a p
  15. Or is it the same for everyone else? Wherever the word "scrap" appears on here, it comes up as "smotions"?
  16. I quite agree! He's a bit slow, bless his cotton socks! :-D
  17. Blimey, they look a bit nippy! Whats the top speed on those things?
  18. GMC owners probably need it more for when they run out of petrol....
  19. I think its the armoured recce vehicle, at a guess!
  20. I would go tank spotting up on the ranges if they were being used. There are a couple of good viewpoints to watch. Im sure the "locals" could point you in the right direction!
  21. Thanks for that will check it out ;-)
  22. The jeep chassis and running gear, with assorted bits of rusting bodywork arrived today. I had that feeling the same as when I bought the Morris, hace I done the right thing or bought a lemon. Im hoping Ive done OK. :dunno: The chassis seems fairly solid apart from the tubular member at the front, which has suffered the ravages of time and is fairly iffy at one end. If anyone can help to confirm any details of this Id be grateful (you know who you are!).Vehicle no. is 81 YH 19 with a chassis code of 136630. It is a major project, but with prices going the way they are I need to get on the ladder somewhere. Will post pics of assorted bit of metal and start in restorations. Apparently it originated from a tank museum around Suffolk way. Any info gratefully received, and a chassis diagram would be great . :help:
