  2. Another from 'Wheels of War' Crewe 09.

  7. Hi, just got back from this event which I have attented for a couple of years now. The weather was great, not too hot for the parade allthough a good breeze blowing for the standard bearers, which allso stoped the Spitfire from flying. The veterans are allways fantastic to talk to and do appreciate the vechicles being taken for the display. I must add that several displays of RAF memorabila by groups in period uniform added to this day, not forgetting all the other organizations. But we must remember the event is for the veterans and their families. A few pics. of the day. Andy.
  8. Hi, I'm with all the other replys. Looks a fantastic event. Great pics. Andy.
  9. Fantastic truck. Sadly I was not in the digital or camera age when I was restoring mine so very few pics are arround. I do have I think a old book that shows the interior of a truck the same as I had in use. If I can find, scan etc. the pics may be of interest to folks. Andy.
  10. :-) Thanks folks. The toe caps of my boots are now 'black' again. The melted polish seemed to be drawn into the natural colour of the leather and a quick brush up brought them back fantastic. Very interesting about being clean in the field without being bulled up, which is how I want them ( I have another pair which dont get wet, muddy and scuffed for special occasions) I clean them approx two times a week for events. Intresting about cleaning the beret. Thanks Mark for getting me to join this forum. Fantastic info from you all. Andy.
  11. From day one I used Kiwi Parade following instructions on tin. Will have another go t'night. Another event tomorrow and a RAF event Sunday, so they must be right. Thanks.
  12. Hi welcome to the forum. I,m a FFR man myself( just like all the cables and clutter) Where are you Mark? Tell Rob all about your new toy.(Bright yellow RAF Landi) Andy.
  13. Hi Graham. Sadly you have brought back mostly happy memories of my Fordson Civil Defence coms. truck which I had to sell last year. Restoration cost getting very high. It was still complete with all the internal fittings, lights, seats, map table etc. etc. I understand it may be broken to restore a flat bed!! Have you got the radios set up in the Landi? Welcome to the forum, Andy.
  14. Hello folks. I'm having a spot of bother with my boots, namely that over the last couple of years of polishing the natural colour of the leather is starting to show through the 'black' How do I correct this? I use a good qual. polish and soft cloth. Thanks Andy.
  15. Thanks again for the info, will try. Need to start a thread on how to iron my'airy Mary shirt'! Picked up another pair simlar trousers weekend, but two leg pockets, dated 79'. Will post pic. Andy.
  16. That pic. has upset me, I'm off to bed with a bottle of gin. Andy.:nut:
  17. Hi, note on my signature 'hand cart!?' It has quite large 3 stud wheels, solid centers though, 5.50-16 6ply and def. military. If I can get to it I will post pic. Andy.
  18. Hi Mark, your 300mile round trip puts us to shame! But hope to travel further in future. The weight in the Sanky's and Landies does not do a lot for fuel consuption! Impressed with your webb site, gives us ideas. Fantastic that folks like you/us want to do more with these post war vehicles than just park them up at events. Lets keep up the good work and get noticed. At mo I am waiting on a mil. gen. to power up the kit. We want to be able to demo the early command computers and printers in a command post role. Simon is in the comp. trade and got His sorted to show welcoms/information etc. Will spend a little more time looking at your site, can we keep in touch through it? to exchange ideas/events etc. Andy.
  19. Hi Mark from here in Staffordshire. Love to see pics of your display (See my threads and Photo pic site) My mates and myself are doing the same up this part of the world, our first propper year as sig. display. Intrest has been fantastic from ex. service members through to radio hams. Keep up the good work and hope we all meet up one day. Andy.
  20. Great pics. I am finding these smaller gatherings can be very enjoyable indeed. Reminds me a mate I used to work with had one in His barn. If I can get in touch will post results. Andy.
  21. Very local to me. Simon and myself attended this event to sort out our display. We had a great weekend and busy chatting none stop to folks. The intrest in British Army Landies, signals, kit etc. of the 80's left us with no time for lunch either day. Sadly not many military vehicles over both days, think about 10 in all. But they were all great folks. Not many public either inspite of the fantastic weather and location. Few pics. Andy.
  22. Hi Brian, welcome to the forum. Good luck hunting for the Green machine. Andy.
  23. Hi Phil. Where to start? Have you got the equipment rack rack fitted? If you have this can be a simple installation. The installation handbook I have for the half-ton GS shows a FFR canvas would be required as the antenna arm is part of the equip. rack which makes antenna set up simple, just lead, insulators, bushings, antenna support and 2mt whip. Take it your radio is on a GS frame (Para wont do) Mounting frame required to bolt on rack which radio/frame clamp into, close to R/H side of tilt.Distribution box GS (fuse box) supplies power to the 14v charger for the radio battery. If installed using all leads, earth bonding etc it looks right. Handbook I have is Army code 61590, for PRC320 but shows correct locations for the boxes etc.Sorry dont know how to scan and post on thread. Hope some help though.Good luck. WARNING.Intrest in radio kit can be very addictive, loads about and at mo. reasonable prices. Andy.
