  1. Hi folks. Got back at four this morning from my first visit to this event, and I got to go in my mates Landi. I must say I was overwhelmed by it all. The marshall who helped us find a pitch was great, the vehicles sorry to say I did not get round them all, the stalls fantastic, even after what I had heard about the loos were fine to good. But what made it for me was the effort put in by the reenactors in the displays they put on, just outstanding. Hence most of my pics. are of this nature. Now have over 160 eddited. Just a few of them. Andy.
  2. Think it was the best event I have attended for a long while. I was behind the crowd on the display for the battle:embarrassed:, BUT there on Sat morn for rehearsal,:-) when the Trojan went roaring through the mine field and sank to its belly and got stuck!!:nut::nut: and the Challenger crashed out of the forest with guns blazing, stopped dead with a jammed round in the breach of GMPG or what ever. Fantastic display and weekend. Will post more pics. on my photo site when back from W&P, never been.
  3. Foot note. the 'brick' is held with two rods with wing type nuts to fixings on the landi floor and two quick release rod assy. to the landi sides. Radio kit was built up as required, i.e. chargers, boxes, manpack radios, 353, 321. DMU, etc. etc.
  4. Hi Shaun. Yes they are big and very heavy. It fills the back of mine so that you are left room only for the signal opperators seat (hangs on the left/right side of Landi body) and room to stretch out your legs a little. But you have a large under locker to pack with kit if no batteries are used. This battery space has fibreglass trays that slide out on runners to make access for batteries easy. You have a good table for the kit and the radio racking also. Two pair of terminals live and one dummy to keep power cables tidy. The racking also holds the two antenna arms which pass through the FFR canvas. I remove mine at the end of show season to get weight off springs, It is too heavy to do this on a regular basis unless you have a winch and remove the canvas etc. Forgot to say mine has the safety frame incase the chopper dropped the lifting cable so the radios did not get damaged. I understand that the unit could be lifted out wholesale complete, batteries, radios etc. installed in a command tent up and running with no messing about with spanners etc. with just the power cable attatched to a 24v charging system or generator. I would photo my set up if required, but off to W&P for a few days. Having said all that it does make this Landi look the part and it would be great to see more done in this way, in this part of the world not seen another. Hence the reason my mate and myself are doing our best to show FFR landies fitted to the best of our knowledge. Hope of some help,Andy.
  5. Hi and welcome to the forum. Great to see a circa 1985 living history group in the USA. By the way your not 10 Para with the web link through Forces80 are you? If so you have a fantastic web site. Yes I love my Airportable FFR as well.Andy.

  9. yes indeed, thanks for the link. We have a pill box in my village which no one seams to care about. Andy.
  10. Hi, what stand will you be on? If I get down will try to find you.Your going to the right place to find a SLR anyway. It has taken me six years to kit mine out. I for one always look over a Airportable of any type, I know others do as well. Have a great show. Andy.
  11. Hi Shaun, my reply is much the same as the rest. For that sort of money stick out for a correct std. long barrel SLR. Not much more cash you may pick up a old spec. and will get a new spec. and have a bit of cash left for more 'bits'. It is very easy to buy the first item that comes along (I think we have all done it) and repent later. One will turn up that is correct and you will be happy with. Thats what happened with my .50cal. Andy.
  12. Hi Ben. I am a member of the EMLRA which is why I have a pass for myself.Andy.

  25. Hi, although your pic. is quite small it looks like a British Pilkington Pocket sight. My info. comes from the book, Guns of the Elite, George Markham. 1987. The pic. of this sight is fitted to the L1A1 and covers nearly two pages, so sorry I could not scan. Hope of some help, and I stand corrected. Andy.
