  1. Hi, what period Bren are you looking for? For example 70's-80's. Try finding a 7.62 L4A2, seem to be in very short supply.. £750 plus?!! Andy.
  2. Hi Andy from Andy up here in Staffordshire, welcome to the forum.
  3. Hi Ian. Welcome to the forum. I'm spending too much time here, must go and plant the cabages. Andy.
  4. Hi Bob! welcome to the forum and a member of the EMLRA. Andy.
  5. Hi Shaun. I was lucky and made redundant 4years ago!!! Being totally hopless with my money and single I went out and bought the SLR. I was also lucky and have folks I know who did me a good price on a old spec. SLR. Mark is spot on with what you may expect to pay. Also a option is a Sterling SMG, sadly prices may be approx the same, or slightly less. From a recient deal with a .50cal. I have been informed a de-act cert. is not law. BUT do not be tempted to buy a weapon with out one, again I was lucky in having friends in the trade. I now have one for it at a low cost and no problems, I was given instruction on all the proof marks required and where they should be, proof houses etc. I WAS lucky. One thing I have found (depending on how you want to display) is ex. service men just love to be able to show you how they field stripped them. Not poss. with current deact. At events a wire rope and padlock are a must. Good hunting. P.S. I had a job lined up the following week. Andy.
  6. Hi and welcome to the forum. Sure looks like a project! Bit like my Fordson when I bought it. Where in the Midlands are you? I'm Stafford area. Andy.
  7. Hi folks. I think this event is a well kept secret here in the Midlands. What a fantastic weekend it was (again). Sadly on Sat. there were five of us in military vehicles and Sun. three. We had about 3-4 acres to display in! The weather helped with the model and light aircraft displays, which start early and finished about midnight. Model boats, model car racing, model helecopter displays. Fantastic. Too many to number trade stalls etc. The public who visted our sig. display were great, no idea how many were in the park, but from where we were it looked packed. Just a few pics, more on my photo site. Andy.
  8. Hi Josh, thought I,d let you know I picked up a couple of 58ptn Para bergans at a show last year. Only months later when checking the pockets for anything left in them over winter found a doc. Artillery Fire Plan Proforma. Suporting 2 Para. Looks like target information on a runway. It is in poor condition and some of the info. I can not read. If I knew how to scan it and put on file I would send your group a copy. Will send to this thread if I do. Andy.
  9. Hi and welcome to the forum. I've displayed at a local show today and had stories given by a ex serviceman who served in the Turkish army (broken English) Andy.
  10. Hi Mark, yes thanks for the pics. Looks like it was as hot there, as Weston park. (Show report soon when sorted the sun burn out)! Andy.
  11. Funny enough this sounds like the problem I had a few years ago. I never fit any brake part other than I think mine are Girling? Had real problem bleeding, Local garage (used to Landies) told me to attatch tube to bleed nipple and leave other end in jar of fluid and let it slowly drain through, after a few min. before tightening nipple one only slow push on pedel and tighten before bottom. I remember this system worked for me. My mate with His bleed kits etc. had no luck at all.Just a thought. Andy.
  12. Hey up Mark, you planning on a BIG display.:-) Andy.
  13. Hi Alan. Welcome to the forum. Just got in from a model aircraft event. The skill of you model makers just leaves me speechless.Andy.
  14. Hi Martin, Great to be the first owner of Landi like I was, (no civiy bits added) If you have a TURF for the 321 I'm interested. Sounds your not far from us. Will be off line now till Sun evening. Andy.
  15. Hi Josh, welcome to the forum. Who are you a Para. re-enactor with? I'm also interested in the British Forces C1980. Been luckly at local car boot, picked up pair high ankle boots used to patrol the Islands and yet to visit the seller for possible artifacts from Falklands whaleing station. See my thread 'lightweight trousers' Good to hear you fancy a Airportable. Any pics. of your kit/group? Andy.
  16. Hi Martin, Sorry forgot to mention Mark's Landi's (sorry Mark) we sometimes all get together at events for display's and a beer. Hope you near enough to join us. Andy.
  17. Hi Shaun. As Mark pointed out, forces80 great site on kit etc. 1985- quite a few bit of kit changed, new weapons, webbing etc. started coming into use. Will try to post a few pics next week of my Airportable FFR with kit C1980-85. A useful book... Survival, Len Cacutt... I would have thought out of print. Andy.
  18. Hi, thanks for all the fantastic info. Will iron a pair for a event this weekend. Andy. P.S. may be a bit hot with the 'hairy Mary' shirt as well. Andy.
  19. Hi Martin. See from my profile I am from near Stafford. Myself Airportable FFR, and mate 109 FFR are very interested in getting our Landies 'as correct' as we can. This is our first year trying to set up a signals display. We are trying to base display C1980-89. Do you know Weston Park?, packed ready for off this weekend, if you get the chance (It's a model aircraft weekend) Welcome to the forum. Andy.
  20. Hi Tony, Not sure yet. I just need a couple of pairs to be 'right' for my early 80's display. Not even tryed these two pair yet for fit. I'm constantly reminded that I am a skinny b'td and most of the surving kit fits me. Sad news is the stall selling them at the Mid Shrop. show had loads of 68 and early ptn. kit, I did not get His buis. card. I was walking around crying as kids were playing in the stuff. Wish I had taken more cash to buy up early DPM's. Will give you the chance if I decide to part with pair. Thanks for info. Andy.
  21. Hi folks, a couple of weeks ago I picked up 3 pair of 'lightweights' Two pair have this cross over waist belt straps, and button up fly. No inside label. Pic. colour not come out too well, but both pairs are quite faded olive green. Any one got any clues on the pattern or age? Thanks for any info. Andy.
  22. Hi, sorry to hear of your problem. I must be lucky up here near Stafford! Worth trying any Agricultural machinery dealers (We always tryed to help folks out) who do repairs and a bit of fabricating. Any local blacksmiths/ fabricaters. Good luck with the hunt for a bit of steel. Andy.
  23. Hi folks, convert to 24v.?? That would be a interesting project. Most owners I know with 24V want to convert to 12v. I NEVER will, but any lead for 24v 'bits' I follow up as I want to have my Airportable on the road when I have a zimmer frame. I have a strong feeling that 24v parts for the Airportable will become rather sought after. Andy.
