  1. Small world! Up here in Staffordshire. Just picked up 'brick' for DMU. My mate and myself after two teleprinters for the display, working of course. Picked up early this year two computers (see one of my threads). My mate has His sorted to recieve ACARS etc. etc. mine to be done, but we would like to sort out the fibre optic link between the two. My mates Landi is being set up as a rebroadcast station, all getting a bit tec. for me but learning! Phone call tonight, we hope to set up web site for our events and tec. details. It looks like the world is getting more exciting for us 'poor' folks with just Landies!!! The force is with us. Andy.
  2. Hi. Yes there is (at Wasall) was asked to go. A couple of mates are. The council asked for support for help for hero's a couple of weeks ago. I can not make it, but will be at Shug. (Sat. evening) for Sun. with sig. display. Please say hello on Sun. if you can pop along. My mates are also coming to Shug. on the Sun.Andy.
  3. Hi. Anyone else popping to this event on Sunday 15th Aug? Told last weekend 1200! enteries booked, cars, bikes etc.etc. But I will have room to set up my sig. display. Andy.
  4. Hi, welcome to the forum. Like bulldozers, love to see a pic. or two. Andy.
  5. Hi, my mate and myself just love Clansman. This year is the first year we have been setting up joint sig. display's at events. Loads of intrest from the public, and hard work. Love it. Just picked up a signals genny to power the kit etc up. This Sun. hope to have kit running at a event now I have a safe power supply sorted. Put your HMVF name in my little red book incase we need kit:D. Be impressed to see the 319 in action. Andy.
  6. armyradio.com are showing a EMU, at a price. May be worth checking out.
  7. Welcome from another FFR landi. fan (airportable). What radio kit are you setting up in your Landi? Will have a look in my hand books for a correct name of what you are looking for. May be just a battern terminal box. Andy.
  8. Hi, ref. Army Code book no. 61253ANTENNAS 1.19 A 4 x 1m whip antenna is used for mobile ground-wave working and dipole and end-feed antennas are provided for static stations working sky-wave. An antenna counterpoise is supplied. Must admit I would never like to travel with three never mind four! I do always like to get the handbooks before I spend money on kit. They sure can save you wasting hard earned cash. Andy.
  9. Hi, not anything from the 80's was there? would love to see copies if that is the case as paper work is very interesting and would add to our display from that period.Know that when I took pics. of the 439's at Withams that some of the coms. cabins had stuff all over the place. Andy.
  10. Oh dear. Sure you have not got a earth problem before you track one down? I thought at one time this was a prob. with mine, fitted new solonoid ( lucky not expencive) did not cure the prob. Found as I remember a corroded terminal which was simple to sort out.( I have a Airportable) Before you pay good money for a 24v starter have it checked out, not in the trade now. But folks who do lorry 24v stuff should help and may be able to service it for you if required. This is the reason why if I get a sniff for 24v 'bits' I ALLWAYS follow up the lead, hence I have spare everything in the shed including starters.Dont live near Stafford do you? Andy.
  11. Hi. Not thinking straight, too early in the morning! Getting back into two wheel drive. Just push the high/low lever forward and return to rear. The 4WD knob should just pop up. i.e. out of 4WD. Unscrew the yellow knob, locknut. Lift off the spring, the little cover plate that rod passes through should be held by two screws. Remove, can you see where the problem is?
  12. Not sure about the 4WD lever. Bit will depend where it has become detatched. Starting.... Before you buy anything. Have you checked that both batteries are ok? Electrolite level, a good charging, check charge in each cell, ( a battery eloct. hydrometer is a fair indicator of condition) Check all battery leads, remove, clean and refit. Not a bad idea to smear with vasaline AFTER connecting to battery. Earth connections are important. Had a problem with mine early days. After checking above if problem still there then check solinoid. Hope of some help. Andy.
  13. Will do. Event at Shugborough next Sun. (15th Aug.) Will take pics. set up and detail.Andy.
  14. Hi folks. Dont know anything about 439 thingies, but are these pics. of any intrest from a day out early this year. Andy.
  15. Hi Paul. Welcome to the forum. Will have a look at your web site when got rid of the caterpillars on my cabages! Andy.
  16. Hi, got hand books on how to fit in soft skin, so interested in this thread. Hoping to set up DMU in my Airportable. Pics will be great. Andy.
  17. Hi. In some ways I agree with your comments. A deact is just a lump of metal. I had a 'copy' some time ago that was very good and fooled. BUT it was just a copy. I was very lucky indeed and have ended up with a very good original on the M63 mount, but at a good price whitch helped. If you show and talk about the gun the feed back is fantastic. (last event two members from the 2nd Para were all over it) Lifting the top cover and placing 'rounds' in, stripping parts to demo cleaning etc.It all depends what you are looking for. Lets face it at the moment good deacts are just getting out of pockets of most of us. i.e. old spec. SLR's. Anyone interested in a photo or two of mine in this thread for interest and reference? Buy one if it could still fire!!!? I live in Great Britian. Andy.
  18. Basically, yes. Your recieving 'chatter' in this way? Lucky you. My mate does with His 321. So mine dont work:cry:I've been told many times by ex. signal men that they used to have a coil of copper wire handy to throw into tree's for a antenna so it could just be left. Andy.
  19. Hi Simon. Just read your thread through again. Your first post talks of a 353 and a 321. The 353 is a VHF set. The 321 is a HF set. Am I correct that your last pic. is a 320? If so, that is also a HF set. If you do have the 321 it is connected as per. my pics. through a TURF. The 320 is a even simpler set up, antenna lead connected to antenna base as pic. other end is simply connected to the radio via. Quote user handbook. 5. Clip retainer, lead electrical (5999-99-637-0880)into the whip antenne socket on top of the radio set. Orientate it as indicated in fig.16. 6. Feed the end of lead, electrical through the cable grip of the retainer lead, electrical and clip the lead into the remote antenna connection on the radio set. Dont have a 320 myself to check the connection. Getting a bit confusing this! In your pic. you show a TUAAM, this is for VHF, i.e. 353. The antenna base/transformer connects to it. That connects to a ARFAT box via. two leads. Then connect to radio. You will find the knurled nut on the TUAAM is for earth bonding as usually it is on the radio. Earth bondind does make a instalation look the part. Hope I have been of some help, and I stand corrected on anything. Andy.
  20. Hi Ted. Welcome to the forum. Here is a pic. of the fire truck at RAF shawbury 30.07.10 Andy.
  21. A pic or two of the turf and antenna base, basically the same in any vehicle. Andy.
  22. Thank you very much indeed. Not quite got use to this googling thing yet. Great lead. Andy.
