  1. After 2 hours of trying to post a message I have found I can only enter text in the text box when it is switched to source-mode? I found this out by accident and desperation, randomly clicking buttons!! The welcome guest box also dosen't disappear when I log in and have to manually click it off every time i log in/time-out log in, very annoying! Ho hum............ :-( Alec.
  2. Any more ideas? I could do with a spares list/exploded diagram for the brake system. Going to strip and rebuild them but wouldn't mind knowing what i'm facing!! :-D Alec.
  3. Hi, I was speaking with Keith P on Friday night and he mentioned you!!:-D Nice to see another highlander on here............. Alec
  4. "Oleg Titberiya, head of The Battle of Leningrad Museum, on his part, said that the tank would be eventually repaired and put on display – a process that he warned may take at least 10 days, given the tank’s rusty parts" Now THAT's optimism :-D Alec.
  5. Could a MOD have a go at fixing some broken links/tidy up the early galleries please? Love Matadors, and there's an unloved recovery one near me........... I try to buy it every couple of years :cool2: Alec
  6. Will you STOP making me so damn jealous!! I would love one, oh and a Zil157 as its stablemate........:-D Alec.
  7. Yup, same problem here and has been for a looong time! :cool2: Alec.
  8. The side lockers, as fitted to wolfs, NZ army landies etc, are they steel or alloy bodied? I quite fancy a pair for my 109 and wondered about their availability, if they are steel I imagine they will be rotten messes by now due to their location, if alloy they stand a fighting chance! How are they attached at the rear? If its against the chassis, I spy a galvanic sandwich somewhere!!! Alec.
  9. Agreed. I use an old cab-tilt pump from a lorry, with the oil nipple on the end of a length of 1/8 hydraulic hose. Works fine, just top it up after you use it each time! Great for trunnions on 1500 spitfires.......... :cool2: Alec.
  10. Hi Clive, I'm sure i've seen pictures of this. On the SWB version, did not the stretcher hang out the rear by about 18"? I may actually be thinking of 80" S1 versions though...... Alec.
  11. I can sleep in the back floor of my 109 and I'm 6'3" Alec
  12. Agreed, I did a lot of homework and came to the conclusion that anything with a Bosch VE or equivilant Jap pump would handle it no bother! As a result my 200tdi defender used to run 80pc veg or 100pc bio all year round no problems and return 27mpg. My daily driver is a 109 Canvas-Top fitted with a Nissan LD28. Indirect injection and a jap copy of a VE makes for a 70pc veg or 100pc bio 32mpg 60mph flyer!! 11k miles since april so far with no drop in economy, performance or oil quality/contamination (I change every 5k religiously anyway). My only problem was my manual lift pump/fuel filter housing that did not have viton seals fitted so failed. Rectified now.......:-D My old 2.5n/a 110 used to love 80pc veg as well. Although I haven't heard favourable things about the CAV DPA/DPS injection pumps, I had 2 years of trouble-free use! Alec
  13. I'm trying to track down a supplier of cartridges or a couple of old or spent ones to get copied. Yes, I have a current Shotgun Certificate if that were to pose a problem.......... They are for backup use for my Meadows 27.5kva set if I'm daft enough to let the air tank go empty again (using an electric donkey-motor on the air compressor if the current backup but god its slow to charge!! ) Type: Williams and James 50C RAF Number 12K.1305 Army number X3/XC/MS.106866 Oh, and if anyone has a couple of Ether EHALET capsules for show display purposes, even spent ones, I'll happily give you a few quid for them. Nice little things to have to complete the set. Alec.
  14. Good man, the more Marshall Ambulances the merrier! I have three of the damned things now, they're breeding! Two are ex-Blanchards as well, easy restos they were!! Alec.
  15. Ahaa, bingo!! Expect a rush on #2 camo brown paint now............. :cool2: Alec.
  16. Yup, the old Bikini Levels: Black (Normal) Black-Special (Heightened awareness) Amber (General substantiated threat to MOD) Red (Direct threat to establishment) We used to use them, but that system has been binned in recent years by the UKAEA, and we're onto another idea........ :cool2: again........ Alec.
  17. Bah! Again! It's all a conspiracy! I'm not playing your games again Elliott!! :nut: Well, maybe..
  18. Ah yes, that old gun could be dismantled for transport over the indian mountains! The barrel unscrewed or un-latched from the main body, can't remember. So, a transport plug, or even better, carrying handles for moving the barrel around??? Alec.
  19. Right, the other end then! A barrel plug for an artillery gun to prevent water and debris falling down into it? Going by rough measurements against the computer screen, if its 22" long, that makes it approx 2.8" Dia at the leather covered end, this is close to the old 10lb mountain gun size of 2 3/4" Alec.
  20. For setting/tamping charges in shell casings? Alec.
  21. Damn, I spent too much time thinking over it again........ Always the bridesmaid, never the bride Alec
  22. Chapper, Tattie, for the pounding of, 1. (potato masher for you English heathens ) Alec.
  23. BBQ! I have one I ground the handle off, sliced it around the seam weld, welded hinges and a toggle-clamp onto. I then welded one half of the handle back on (left the other half free to open past the handle), so it looked original and still fitted a jerrycan rack! Frame inside with a grille. Tons of space for BBQ, storage for utensils and extra charcoal! Going to modify it so that 4 legs made of conduit store inside the lid but can be slotted into tubes welded into the can for adding extra height (its a bit heavy with 2 bricks inside it for feet :-D:-D Pics to follow when I dig it out of hibernation........ :cool2: Alec.
  24. Hmm, something potted with polarity, an inductive coil/capacitive reference to set the range on a piece of kit or test a piece of kit? Alec
