  1. Mark Contact these people, who will nave the build records and can issue a certificate to show date etc. http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/sectionpages/archive_index.html Andy
  2. If you have a vehicle that you don't use over the winter, and is not close to mains power this may help. Maplin stores have 12 volt solar battery chargers, for 9.99 each. This is half price, and a very good price. I have used these to keep batteries topped up, and these work really well. Not really designed to charge a totaly flat battery, but will ensure you don't have to buy a new one.
  3. Hi, I talked to Grangers who make Fabsil, and it's also available in clear! Grangers also made Mesowax. I was told that no-one wants anything other than clear these days.
  4. Hi It would appear that Mesowax is no longer in production. Anyone know of a suitable replacement? Needs to have green in it, at least in a couple of shades.
  5. Hi Does anyone know of a supplier of canvas restore products? These need to come in differant shades of green. Also need to possible to spray on. Thanks in advance. Andy
  6. Hi, have a quick look at "film on 4 (I think)" tonight. A film called "eye of the needle" is being shown. It's an rubbish film, but it has a cut down MUNGA running about in it.
  7. Hi, I have seen this close up and had a drive. Very capable off and on road. Lots of Kevlar etc in the foot wells, and some very interesting electronics! Protection from IED's is not all to do with big lumps of steel plate.
  8. Try this link http://www.lrfaq.org/Series/FAQ.S.carb.zenith.fix.html
  9. The F91-4 (MUNGA), was designed to be simple to repair from the start. Most parts are interchangable, like drive shafts etc. A clutch change is, two men 1/2 hour by the book! A chap I know was a driver in Germany in the late 50's. At one time he had a chance to drive Jeeps, Champs, Landrovers, etc and of course the MUNGA. He said the MUNGA was better on road, and off road than all the others. MOD, did look into buying them for the whole of the MOD. 6 and 8 seat types were only produced in small numbers, but have the same running gear and chassis. Getting and keeping the two stroke plant running is a bit harder that a four stroke. But once you have the knack it's worth the effort. Top speed road, about 60 MPH. With four up, most hills are simple as long as you keep the revs up. All that from a little under 1 ltr, but like all 2 strokes it's all top end power. If you drive it like a four stroke you will soon be in trouble. And expect to turn heads! I took mine to a local american car show, and spent most of the day with the bonnet up or running people about. Have a look at MUNGA-IG.de.
  10. If it's a Zenith, check for float level. Also check for top and bottom half heat warping. If you have a problem, get a piece of glass and some fine glass paper. Lay the glass paper on the glass, and flatten the top and bottom halfs of the carm body.
  11. Hi I had this problem. It turned out to be sap from the trees which the vehicle had been parked under. It all looked clean, but rubbing the top of the canvas showed it was mucky. Once it was cleaned with washing up liquid and warm water it worked fine.
  12. A quick question to all on the forum. Why do we, collect, restore, drive, and at times curse our vehicles? I suspect, it's very much a case of all things to all men and ladies of course!
  13. I have a copy of the parts book for the FFR only Mk8. This lists all the parts which are differant to a GS. If you pm me your address, I will post to you. Copy what you need and post it back.
  14. Yes, hope everyone is ok. Dry here in Devon, just problems with the piles of dead camels due to lack of water :-D
  15. I think you will find it's written in Dutch, which is not that simple to translate by PC. Good luck, and keep as far away as you can from the bl**dy thing! Had a guy I served with very badly burned (over 50% third degree) with one of these.
  16. Yes, no tools allowed as well   Not often you get the change to play with such expencive bits of kit. Saturday the weather was good for the trips in landing craft, but Sunday we did get a bit wet with the spray. On board I have never seen so many 9x9 etc all in one place! I wonder what other places have done for the events of 25 years ago?
  17. Over the weekend, Plymouth had a Falklands 25 event. Lots of kit on show, and we were made very welcome by RN, RM, Army, and RAF! Nice little trip on a landing craft out to HMS Bulwark (commando assult carrier), into the vehicle deck and a good wander around the ship! :-D Lots of goodies to pay with, including Viking and BARV. But no photos, not allowed!
  18. ok, thanks for the help. I will give them a try. :-D
  19. Hope someone can help :-D I am trying to find someone who can supply bits (needle valve and gaskets) for a Zenith NDIX carb. Thanks in advance. Andy
  20. Kyle, your insurance to have a vehicle in a public place is not valid if you don't have an MOT. So you can take your MUNGA by low loader, but you can't drive it once you are at W and P.
  21. Hi and good luck with the MUNGA's. My German Munga club mag arrived this morning, with a re-printed copy of the German Army user handbook. This is free for club members! If I can help get in touch. Andy
  22. Pinkies, used "normal" FV pattern light/ignition switch. I suspect someones changed this for a civvy LR one from the scrap box!
  23. Hi. MUNGA,s are good fun, and are practical. Expect about 40 MPG, top speed of 60 MPH. Most in this country are ex-Dutch, so have oil tank so no pre-mix required. Most parts are easy, shocks are the same as type 2 VW £8 each! The spark plugs (3 off) are about £1.50 each from Germany. The chassis is normally rust free, bodies are good think steel and tend to last. body panels are available from the club in Germany. See http://www.munga-ig.de the site is in English. Handbooks from the club in English, data search for built date etc. I think it's about £12 per year, which includes megazines and cd's. the cd's have things like handbook, spares list, hints and tips etc. MUNGA has a full time four wheel drive system, full military lights, and can ford up to the top of the bonnet without you getting out to do anything! A heater is fitted, which works! The screen has integeral demisting, and two single wipers. A good one goes for £1k to £1.5k, but prices are going up are these are all zero tax and cheap to run etc. In Germany good one's go from about £3k plus, and some have taken the trip back to Germany from UK as the Germans can't get enough! Send me a PM if you want more info. Andy, owner of two MUNGA 4's!
  24. BRIXMIS. The British Commanders'-in-Chief Mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany. BRIXMIS was noted for many technical intelligence coups, including: Secretly bringing a Yak-28 Firebar's Skip Spin radar and jet engines back to Farnborough for inspection after it crashed into lake Havelsee in Berlin. Measuring the calibre of the gun of the then brand-new BMP-2 Armoured personnel carrier. Stealing "reactive armour" from a Russian tank, for analysis!
