  1. Hi, Still can't see photos! :? Yeep, no blues and twos, civil plates, a couple of antennas (small), odd paint finish     :-D! Did the reg numbers have 4 numbers and three letters? I will see if the boss will let me send some photos of the 6 wheel Supacats we are doing. Andy PS The pinzs we did cost mega bucks to buy the chassis!
  2. Opps   Should have read "not much heard of" :computerterror:
  3. Have a listen to Radio 4 on Monday evening at 20:00. A now much heard of part of the cold war.
  4. Sorry, but I can't see the photo :? But if it shows Pinz's in civil use, I may be able to help. These and things like Unimogs are in civil use for several users in UK. We have fitted extensive comms fits into these for non-military users. These also get used for remote comms site work, and other related functions  We fitted 4, 6 wheel versions a couple of years ago. All came with civil plates and painted white. PM me if that's helpful.
  5. Kyle Give me a ring, and I will see what I can do for you. Andy
  6. All sounds ok. I have fitted both SMLE, and SLR into the brackets on my old Mk8 GS. I will see if I can find some old photos, which may help. I may also have copies of the drawing for the clips etc from the EMER.
  7. The clips and brackets you have, may be for the rear bulkhead. The front ones fit over the speedo, and on the passenger side. but only into the front of the bulkhead. Mine your face when installed.
  8. Hi Mark Sorry I can't make War and Peace, as working in Jockland again at that time! But will have use of a new Wolf again, with any luck . Yes, it would be good to have more MUNGAs on the scene. I have been emailing everyone who sells one on Ebay in UK to pass details of HMVF etc on. So you never know! Have fun with the Ward, Hope you find the trailer you want. Andy
  9. Hi I can echo everything Mark says. Keep a look on Ebay, I have seen reasonable MUNGAs go for a couple of hundred quid. I have a contact for main canvas (most are missing or shot) for about £250. Doors are about £100 a set from Germany. A electronic ignition is on the market for about £120. Shocks are the same as a type 2 VW van. Lots of other bits are German military standard, so you can find them on Unimogs etc. Most you will see in this country are ex-Dutch. a block of them were sold into UK some years ago. Make sure the transmission oil is NOT EP90! It must be NON EP, or it will eat the bronze items. The club in Germany http://www.munga-ig.de, has and english section. Vehicle history can be sorted via them, and books etc in english. Andy Owner of two MUNGA 4's
  10. What is this cap out of? Does it have any other makings? Andy
  11. See the JSP here http://www.mod.uk/NR/rdonlyres/C05E3C7C-AF55-45BB-831C-09756D9AB9B3/0/JSP392Leaflet26.pdf It's not that most of this stuff is a problem, until it's inside of you. So no eating, smoking, drinking, cover open wounds, don't inhale dust. Alpha radiation is stopped by one sheet of paper, but once inside of the body is in direct contact with growing tissue. :shake: :schocked:
  12. Beware of anything with a greeny yellow paint! Wireless set 62, and others had the main panel marked in this kind of paint. It was very active, and I remember the fuss in the workshop when some scraped the stuff off! Also compass markings etc. One chap was sent for FULL decontam! This included being scrubbed with very hard brushes and lots of water ALL over! Have ALL body cavities cleaned out :shake:  He was in hospital for some days, and not at all happy :?. If in doubt, leave it well alone!
  13. Plus at least one boiling vessel!
  14. The VSWR (voltage standing wave ratio) meter, is a simple way of testing the tuning of the antenna and feeder. But once you have the system working, you must remove it. It's a source of interferance, so having it in the line all the time is not a lot of help. What you are trying to do, is look for the best forward power and the lowest returned power. This means that most of the energy is being radiated from the antenna, which is what you want. Best place for any antenna is the middle of a large metal surface. But the offside front wing of a Rover is good enough in most cases. Don't add extra cable to the antenna to "tune" it. All you do reduce the amount of power to the antenna due to losses in the cable. Solder ALL connections were at all posible.
  15. Hi Don't forget that the Iltis has got as far as the far southwest . Mines in Plymouth, someone did have one in deepest darkest Cornwall :shake: I wonder how much postwar German vehicles are about in UK :? Have fun Andy. Off to the other end of the country now in a wolf for a week
  16. Hi had a problem like this with a B60. It turned out to be the leads being leaky, as being somewhat old :shake: We replaced the old ones with new silicon rubber covered copper cored HT lead, made up into the old covers. Other problem we had was timeing and timeing weights being seized.
  17. Brain not working this morning, forget all the above! I thought you were talking about Rover 1/4 ton Mk1  If it's a Rover 1/2 ton Mk1, yes we fitted wessies to RAF airfield vehicles. Dash mounted high band AM, with antenna on off side wing. For not RAF use a version of the wessie, was fitted as part of MOULD. but these were boot mount with the remote control operating at least two radios. Far more common to see in the staff car (mainly London), and MP vehicle fleet. A mix of dash and boot mountings as required. Some even had remote controls in place of the radio/cassete player, which looked like a radio/cassete. These were for covert users, and included antennas built into wing mirrors! Seem me a PM and Will try and dig out the books at work and copy any relevent bits for you. Do you have a mounting frame, power lead, military type mic etc? Andy
  18. As Clive has said, things wessies were limited to NI in general. Some were fitted to Mk8s, but I would have thought all Mk 1 would have been long of service by then. RAF used wessies, for airfields. These would have been high band AM, but again bit to late for Mk1 rover. If you want a radio for a RAF Mk1 I have a dash mounted vanguard, that I removed from a RAF fire engine (work). I may have a mounting for it, and the correct antenna etc. But it's the size of a small suitcase and have VALVES!
  19. This may help, http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.militaerfahrzeugforum.de%2F&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools
  20. If you want it very cheap try these, not bad but not the best! http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5530740.htm Andy
  21. Mark If you use TTI (http://www.tti.uk.com/), this is the main importer of PMR 446 radios into uk. The guy who runs the company is very good at sorting things out, and will be cheaper that others for good kit. Ask for Dean. Andy If enough people wanted this sort of kit, a bulk buy would cut the cost a lot. Anyone interested?
  22. Below are some systems and suppliers. The simplest, is the PMR500TX. This does the lot in one box, and includes an FM radio to boot! For safety, the diver should not have control of the radio. And any intercom should of the no PTT (push to talk) (Clansman live mic) type. If you have an installed system, make sure that any headsets have “snatch” connectors. Or you could damage the kit or yourself if you get out and forget to unplug! I did mod a truck load of Clansman type helmets years ago so that these had “civil” type connectors. I can supply details, but it’s not a simple job and you will be crawling the walls in no time! We now (for work), only mod AFV helmets with the motorbike kits for open face helmets. We have found that having a system powered by the vehicle electrics is prone to interference. A self contained system can also be moved from vehicle to vehicle, or used dismounted. As PMR 446 radios have fixed antennas, the radio needs to be outside the main body of an armoured vehicle to be effective. The top pocket of the vehicle commander works well, or we have put the radio in a Tupperware box on the top of the turret. A magnet in the box stops it falling off, but makes it simple to hide at a halt. http://www.446user.co.uk/redirect/redirect.php?url=http://www.starcom1.com http://www.airsoftmart.net/catalog/firefox-throat-mics-radios-motorsports-c-139_109_129.html http://www.tti.uk.com/products/proddetail.asp?pc=PMR-500TX http://www.tti.uk.com/products/proddetail.asp?pc=AE-500 http://www.autocom.co.uk/pdf/Autocom_Brochure_06-06.pdf Sorry, Norman the storeman is poorly sick so this is the best I can do from my own files!
  23. Hi, I had to do this for work some years ago. Maplin do a simple and cheap motor bike intercom, and we moded it to have PMR 446 radios for external comms. Their is another supplier who do the same thing all in one box, and not more than £150. I will get the details from our stores man and post here.
