  1. Cheers Dave I wonder what the intention is with them? if they come up for sale, just how much would they be? No doubt too much for most folk. Iain
  2. Yet another Snatch for sale, but on the truck behind something of interest! http://www.mod-sales.com/auction/vehicle/related/41559/Landrover_110_V8_Snatch.htm Iain
  3. Thanks Clive, that's it OK. I just need to get some and repaint the cab once I've replaced the engine etc, etc Iain Just realized! what colour do I then paint the engine, green or blue?
  4. Could this be the same green as used for the cab interior on my Militant as the original colour? Iain
  5. These were issued for arctic/cold weather use, still got one from times in Norway. Iain
  6. Thanks Clive, I'll have a go at the weekend. I suppose it is about time I got an AVO (its as good an excuse as any), its been a while but I feel I could still handle one:whistle: Iain
  7. Hi Iain I must admit I had to double check but I do remember the problem starting after moving cables, so it was OK before. I have just slaved in a Mk4 panel and the charge lamp works as it should (goes out between 4-500rpm) and is of normal brightness, sadly the voltage at the batteries is a steady 25v showing no charge at any revs! Hmm.... but it at least shows original the problem is with the panel. Iain
  8. I can measure 28v at the batteries at around 700rpm so it seems OK. I will give the Mk4 panel a go and see about getting the Mk3 repaired (if it is that, or the generator if that's the problem) as I would rather fix them than chuck them out. Iain
  9. Many thanks Clive! I changed diode D4 as the charge light was not working at all and when I removed the diode and tested it, it was (if I remember correctly) OC both ways. Now the light is dim but goes out when it should!...... Iain
  10. Thanks for the tip. I have just found the mention in part one of the interchangeability of the Mk4 in the Mk3 installation, saying that it will "for the time being work normally" . The article goes on to mention the differences in the auxiliary diodes and it seems there may be a possibility of overloading the aux diodes in the generator,....... I think!:??? HELP!....Clive?
  11. Hi All I have a very dim generator light, the system uses a No10 Mk2 generator and a No9 Mk3 panel. I have a spare No9 Mk4 panel, are these interchangeable? The original problem happened when moving the cable that connects the generator and panel, afterwards the generator light would not work. I changed an internal diode but now the light is very dim. It would help if I could fit the No9 Mk4 if only to test! Cheers Iain
  12. I have followed the advice on the earlier link and so far its been OK (fingers crossed). The only thing that pops into mind that happened to give the maggots this opportunity is when using a vessels shared welfare computer to access my e-mail account. It had the anti-virus software disabled to enable the foreign nationals to use Skype etc and load dodgy software. Never again! Iain
  13. Hi Steve I am up for it of course, it would be great for others to see the Milly winching a Scammel :-D I should know my roster in the next couple of weeks so hopefully I will make at least some of the shows this year! I know there are plenty of green (and sand) vehicles out there hiding, this would be a good opportunity to get some dust blown off, get together with like minded nuts and let other enjoy your efforts! Also an opportunity to have a swap/sale of all that extra stuff? Iain
  14. The guy was probably a bit nervous and most likely had never done anything like it before. His instructor may have been more used to screw ups, he reacted like he had done that maneuver a few times, saved the students ass!
  15. Bloody hell! unless you are an expert you are just prey to these maggots! Some good advice here, many thanks guys!:
  16. Hi Mike Many thanks for that. I use BT Internet/BT Yahoo and its web based. I am following the guide in you link just now! Iain
  17. A few times over the past few months I have had my e-mail contacts list hacked and used for spam! I have anti virus protection and a fire wall active (Norton 360) but it keeps on happening. I have contacted my provider (BT Internet) and run deep scans etc but nothing found. I have been advised that it could be when visiting a website that it happens. It happened again today and other than my-mail account, E-Bay, Milweb and HMVF, I have not visited any other site! Has this been happening to anyone else and does anyone know what I can do, it's really pigging me (and some others) off. Those pesky spammers really need a jolly good ticking off (or something that really is not PC.....):banghead:
  18. The Odyssey part no is PC2250. I have checked on E-Bay and  at £340 plus carriage not cheap but they are the best. I am now more than pleased with the bargain I got!
  19. Odyssey make the latest spec batteries. I got a couple of new ones of E-bay for a good price but they can be expensive as all good batteries are. I'll look up the Odyssey number for the Military 6TN in the morning. Iain
  20. I am sure most of us will do the same thing time and again to get those parts that crop up now and again. I have aquired some real gems by buying as soon as I have spotted them but it does not always work out. Totaly agree about the part numbers, so often parts turn up that look similar to what I am after but could be slightly different, how do you know?
  21. This is a common switch used on the Militant and still widely available, most I have paid is £15.
  22. Very much appreciated Roger, thank you !:
  23. It was in the 1930s !! Very interesting and it had to taken in context as things were at the time, as a possible maybe. In the end one empire giving way to the next?
  24. :goodidea: I will be at my local BOC agent this week as he is also the guy who is fixing up the welding kit locker and spreader bar for me in addition to repairing the gearbox mount/adaptor for myM1008. I will try all the above and more and try and get him on side, he is a very helpfull if always busy guy. Fingers crossed! Iain
