  1. plus good idea to gave it a little drive even in out garage etc keeps seals lubricated will avoid wheel stations leaking next year! oh and on ferret leave handbrake off!
  2. to true, on the ferret hot engine fuel tank and then fighting compartment always wondered why no bulkhead between fuel tank and fighting compartment .
  3. cost 40 quid to go from 6 k value to 14k value plus all the effort i did restoring 18 EA 36, biggest risk i guess is fire on these older petrol mvs.
  4. what with a long cold winter predicted .its time to make sure you have good antifreeze in your vehicles i know i need to top mine up!
  5. would be interested to hear what other owners have there mvs insured for ,have just done agreed value on my ferret with adrian flux of 14000 pounds, process took 4 weeks lots of photos of work done plus various invoices etc.

  7. mine use to creak rear r/h side over about 2 months jacked it up pump grease in jack up. pump grease in ad nauseam drive it over rough ground grease again jack up grease again fitted older style grease nipple took nipple out poked in hole with locking wire sprayed in degreaser, refit nipple finally had to get ferret to place with airdriven grease gun siezed pivot pin was lwr one next to hull.
  8. remember transfer box in neutral and gearbox,and tow at no more than 20 mph
  9. have started my ferret from cold with starting handle, yes its a damn good workout!, when engine hot starting with handle is actually very easy
  10. tire pressure should be marked 36 psi at rear not 30 psi ,now thats pedantic!

  13. knowing how much petrol ferrets use i wonder if after 12 seconds cranking on a open carb feed pipe u might get more fuel than that i think i would change fuel filter and blow fuel lines thru between filter and pump etc have u checked fuel pump is not leaking?
  14. if u use stainless steel bolts once they have heated they look like brass look quite cool.!
  15. depending on size of crack, i might be tempted to stop drill crack restore surface finish and treat area around exhaust pipes to high temp paint,:-D as to welding dont know!

  17. when i did my test it was just ride round the block and instructor would jump out in front so u could do emergency stop all was fine got license ,then heard story of lad doing same test examiner jumped out bloke on bike crashes into examiner ,turns out it was not the guy doing the test!!
  18. also make sure u have the 2 different banjo bolt washers if u cant get them heat them up and let cool slowly to soften them for reuse.
  19. yes people will find lots of ferrets that have botched wiring be it from wiring around convoy light by rad to smoke discharger wiring that some herbert has just cut under front wing where lead comes out of distribution block being a bit smug here as wiring on my ferret is as perfect! right just off to splice in cd player into ferret wiring loom!:-D

  21. machine mart do a 30 grade oil at a good price which would be fine for a ferret cheap enough to change every year lets be honest most ferret do a max of 400 miles a year if that!, also look at size of oil filter fitted and its surface area and do a filter wash in petrol every two oil changes.
