4. I think the issue he is bringing up is in Japan the history is deliberately skewed and it focuses on BS that the US forced Japan into the conflict and then fails to mention anything else. Given the atrocities committed their neighbouring countries are not too impressed with this omission of historical events.
5. I was in Yokohama last week.... most the history is on the bases. Last base I was on has the building where the attack on Pearl was planned and approved There is no war museums in Japan..... they are called peace museums and mainly focus on the suffering of the Japanese post war. http://members.shaw.ca/nambuworld2/militarymuseums.htm This one is described as nationalistic and looks interesting http://homepage3.nifty.com/tompei/WarMuseumNasu.htm
6. I was thinking about this last night as would have been something daft I would have done as a teenager. But it is an interesting risk they took and still are. past tense - evading security to get on warships clearly marked dont do so and with security patrols. In the US you can generally shoot tresspassers present tense - they have admitted to a crime so in reality I presume they can be indicted for the crime on multiple issues. They have also I would say embarrassed the security teams and who ever the person is in charge of said security. In the states it is game over if you get a federal indictment on your record. Great photography though with some really neat quirky tricks
7. Interesting http://beta.news.yahoo.com/photos/the-ghost-ships-of-suisun-bay-1307733678-slideshow/ more detail here http://scotthaefner.com/beyond/mothball-fleet-ghost-ships/
8. oops :red: not a bad looking truck though
9. Another trip to the junkyards. Most interesting is the Bedford which is not standard Malaysian Army so I guess UK MoD gave it to them Also a Stonefield with the Goomba upgrade, pity one of these is not preserved in the UK as were never released there or adopted by the MoD
10. If a spouse thinks your MV is useful go with the flow perhaps expand on the idea and say a tracked vehicle would be easier to climb up on
11. I read the biography many years ago and her life should be in a movie But she was approached many times with scripts but she vetoed them for being unrealistic. Thet caught a informer who was a girl and no-one had the stomach to do what needed to be done so she did it. The book is an extremely good book and I would recommend it highly

13. I kind of guessed the turret might be worth a quid and that could recoup some of the expenditure, or are they not a sought after item? On Milweb with the words "POA for serious buyers only" type deal Also yes, about time you started this thread, way overdue :-D

15. With a refrigiration coil that is typically vapour degreasing using another really good oops I mean nasty chemical called Tricloroethane 111 The formation of Phosgene also occurs from inhaling freon through a lit cigarette I would think kerosene should be ok for a carby in an ultrasonic bath and less volatile than gasoline The ultrasonic senders are normally on the side so you need to rotate the bit int that direction for greatest effect. if you put a flat strip in there you can rotate and see the greatest bubble activity
16. Some new wheels x 7
17. Yep it is quite chunky maybe keep it under the drivers seat
18. just the local demilitarisation. Seen them do the same in Pakistan also. I believe in Malaysian exarmy vehicles were used twice for dubious reasons, hence you cannot keep the original paint job So the tool is not Ferret? Which means I can safely cut it up
19. From what I see, it is a lot of flawed design as from a lot of allied tanks to change the transmission it is a matter of ripping the front off. On one of the German rebuilds I saw it was pretty much disassemble the tank to change the transmission. So as said earlier both the allies and German tanks broke down but which were easier to fix.
20. Another weekend, another trip to the junkyards A Stonefield Goomba A few bits of junk in the boot And what the hell is this as I found it at the yard that had Ferret and other assorted FV bits. Is it a special tool for FV's or is it soon to be scrap metal? I had to buy it out of sheer curiosity
21. well thats good, that it's not just me that uses nail polish

Wikipedia is a bit light on the subject. I am pretty sure this is the guy that navigated in between sunken hulks in a supposedly impossible passage, sunk the ship and went out the same way. considering in them days you couldn't see anything it was quite daring.
