1. I have to admit I follow the attitude that if you paid for the vehicle you can do what you want with it. My Pinzgauer will never be stock as in the Army, as that would mean it was poorly maintained and driven into the ground :-D. I post my Pinzgauer rebuild in here as there is little information on the diesels on the internet so I share what I can
2. Nice piccies...... I love Land Rover Lightweights. Looks like I need to get to Hong Kong more often The junkyards here have some weird stuff also http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.114607166773.117640.614321773&type=1&l=0a8f336694
3. I saw this on the wall of my hotel and I thought it may be of interest to some
4. Would it be the yellow stuff which is a barium derivitave to prevent galvanic corrosion?
5. I'll see if I can get some photos as it belongs to a colleague of mineHis father was a firey and obtained it when the replacement occured. Apparently mounted it in his pub for many years

8. Close as Indonesia is accross the straits from here. Malaysia had a lot of them. I am curious if they bought a few and then subsequently copied them as I seen one in a museum that looks standard, well to me Shoreland. Looking at these with the high roofs made me wonder if a local variant?????
9. Malaysian Police. I was asked nearly a year ago if anyone would want to buy the Saxons and now I am getting pictures of them being gas axed with the Shorelands.

11. Interesting as I knew about the top reinforcent but had not seen a picture of what the lower looked like. I got these pictures from Dale at Haflingertechnik. It is only propped there at the moment as: - Waiting on the spacers to get made - the door needs panel beating - I have a G Wagen door coming that I want to cut some pieces off I have the door stay also as per below but never seen one fitted
12. Always liked the harder hitting power of the SLR and more robust than the latest tuperware kit. Lots of piccies from training showed if the bullet hit a bone it dragged that bone out of the body, not pretty but the point is to kill the enemy. Like the music too :-D
13. Lot's to do but little time

15. no worries, I had the same reaction when I was first shown it.
16. For everyone's sake DON"T ever do this. I never thought twice about this before I saw a viseo about this. The heating of the air in the tyre causes the tyre to explode. It also weakens the bead so the tyre can explode up to an hour after applying the heat. Removing the tyre valve also does no good as the air expands faster than it can vent. Before I saw this video I would never have thought twice about it
17. Willy has sent me on a tangent How the guy made the toolbox http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f37/jerry-can-toolbox-writeup-827134/ One for the wife http://www.instructables.com/id/Jerry-Can-Trash-Can/
18. quite clever ideas maybe a good lock box for stuff left in the MV, lap tops, gps etc. But would also have to be bolted down as jerry cans have always been an easy target. some more http://forum.ih8mud.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=486136&stc=1&d=1295558054 http://www.quadratec.com/Assets/Images/146256/146256-add11-lg.jpg Ok can't cut this up but came up in the search and thought you may like the picture http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u100/swordman80/IMG_1642.jpg I didnt know they made specifically SS ones
19. I'm no expert but I think the timing is out a bit :undecided: I may need a second opinion ?? I think I was asked when this photo was taken "are you going to buy another one!!"
20. Good to see your interest in old stuff. Also good to see you are playing around offroad as I think that is the best experience i.e. do the dome stuff off road, find out what happens when you spin out etc (in something small, I had a Ford Cortina). I have every reason to suspect the reason so many accidents on the road occur is they never got the chance to learn what to do in different situations. Every time bad weather is around you see people skidding of the roads. Defensive driving courses are great but in western countries most people wont do because of cost. Something else I think is true also is the difference between being young and being old. When young there are no consequences e.g. 18 years old - that wing would look great on the back of my Cortina, lets pop rivet it on 40 years old - bugger the wing, if it falls off and smacks someone in the head I'll be in a world of trouble So that's where the experiece bit comes in. Anyway best of luck, set you goals and go with it.
