  1. Pics of an aeroscreened water tanker, I´ll leave it up to rippo to properly identify it. H.
  2. Nettles, ZKent_1488 is a Daimler Armoured Car. ZKent_1419 is a Ford Canada F8 8-cwt 4x2 truck. Regards, Hanno
  3. Keith, Ah yes, thanks, I´ll look them up (again)! Hanno
  4. Keith, In your collection of pictures, do you have any of Canadian Military Pattern trucks? Some fifty Ford F15 15-cwts were captured in France in 1940, plus more of the same type in Greece in 1941 (see attachment) and of course in North Africa later on. Some were modified, but most were used as built. Any info on captured CMP´s is most welcome! Thanks, Hanno
  5. Jack, Try asking the same question at http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums as there are loads of Australian entusiasts on that forum. Hanno
  6. A nice example of living history or re-enactment. I don't really know the difference, but do know this picture depicts a typical Canadian soldier's pose The owner of this M20 is a fellow villager of mine, and his son posed on his dad's M20 as the soldier in the picture. My son noted the cigar in the soldier's hand, something the M20 owner had never noticed before. A cigar was quickly "liberated" and the comparison picture was made. Not exactly 100% identical, but near enough! Enjoy, Hanno
  7. Google "truck airfield crash rescue foamite". Yours is a standard Landy, so like you said someone added the plate for whatever reason? H.
  8. After the one found in Lybia, another Sherman tank has now come to the surface. To me it looks like this was battle damaged Sherman which was stripped for parts and then dumped. Otherwise, the hull looks to be well preserved, possibly because it was buried in clay? Enjoy, Hanno
  9. I was there yesterday with one of my kids. Did not meet any HMVF members as far as I know. But at such massive events it is easier to miss each other than to actually meet! Anyway, it was worth the trouble. The Para dropping was massive and impressive, and there were many interesting vehicles to see - with a good smattering of CMPs to boot! See my Market Garden 2009 G503 album for some pics (more to follow). For videos see Youtube. Hanno
  10. Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but see http://www.dmkf.dk/gallerier/Toejhusmuseets_koeretoejer_1992/index3.html for some pictures of a WOT6 Machinery truck. Hanno
  11. ANORAKON That bren gun carrier actually is a T16 Universal Carrier ANORAKOFF
  12. In Holland you go and have the vehicle weighed officially, then go to the RDW (our DVLA), and have it registered on a car registration. The registration papers will state the unladen weight is 3150 kg, and the maximum permissible load (inlc. driver) is 350 kg. H.
  13. Mark, For your next(?) replica, you might want to use a pre-´66 chassis, as it basically has the same dimensions as the wartime chassis (notably tread), and will give you the 5-stud drums + wheels. Anyway, this one really looks the part! Only thing I wonder is you might have to lengthen the mudguards to run all along the length of the hull, as this might improve stability in the water? Keep up the good work! Hanno
  14. Tony, I´m sorry to see the K2 you obviously lovingly restored, in the end still succumbed to rust and was parted out. This raises the question how many of HMV´s restored in the 1960s and 1970s met the same fate? Hanno
  15. I know Sherman tanks were provided by the Brussels Tank Museum (Sherman VC Firefly) and Netherlands Army Technical Service ("REME") collection (M4A3(105)). IIRC correctly, the latter was re-fitted with a turret for the movie, as it had been in use as a turretless towing vehicle when last in use with the Dutch Army. More details are in the special After The battle magazine issue on the subject of making this movie. Hanno
  16. Hi Phil, Welcome and good to see you on this forum, too. Cheers, Hanno
  17. Yes, sorry we did not get to meet. I think you are now more difficult to spot with the new hairdo I briefly exchanged some words with Jim, who was sitting on a Hellcat sitting by the side of the road with vapour lock. Of course the utterly reliable Sexton roared right past. Hanno
  18. Man, you must be living in a bad neighbourhood! H.
  19. Baz, Nice find, looks like an easy restoration job. If you need parts try Jaap Rietveld (look him up on MilWeb), he has one himself and is in the States regularly digging up all sorts of parts. Hanno
  20. Hope to meet any of you on Saturday afternoon or Sunday. I will be there with the Dutch Army, who will be fielding Sexton and M10 w/17-pdr SP Guns. I´m the big guy in the back of this Kettenkrad: Cheers, Hanno
  21. Glynn, Go to http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/, there´s quite a lot of info on Guy Ants and Quads on there. HTH, Hanno
  22. Posted a few pictures to see what I'm talking about. It's a "MILLENNIUM" Lake & Elliot jack, made in England of course. It looks rather old, so it could be worth the effort to refurbish it, rather than replace it with a cheap Chinese one. And yes, the piston leaks so it needs a new seal. No idea how to dismantle it! H.
