  1. Interesting thread. If indeed SCC2 became BS 381 colour 499 Service Brown, at least in the UK it should be available to order?
  2. Thanks, keep us posted whem you have it up an running.
  3. Interesting, can you tell us Ford Flatheaders more? Or are you selling complete drop-in conversions?
  4. For a cap, try Mac's Auto Parts in the USA. Which type / brand of ignition are you going to fit?
  5. Could anyone tell me if the "British officer's tent" was used by the Canadian Army? Pathfinder Distribution sells reproductions, see http://www.pathfinderdistribution.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=42&category_id=15&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=64 for what they look like. Thanks, Hanno
  6. I agree. That "hedge track" is worthless scrap, until someone skilled and determined enough makes something worthwhile out of it!
  7. Welcome Jacques, I'd love to see pictures of your Dutch BSA! Is it the version with the side car? My great-grandfather manufactured these before the outbreak of WW2. Groeten, Hanno
  8. Definitely an Israeli conversion. A number of these half tracks, but less the guns (sorry Rob!), were in a HMV dealer's yard at least until recently.
  9. Heating up engine oil over an open fire and extinguish it with water when it goes wrong? Oh please..... Just stick the part in a can of diesel and let it sit for a few days / weeks depending on the amount of rust.
  10. Guy, You could well be right the wooden frame was not painted until the metal had been attached and the whole assembly was painted in one go. But if I were you I would treat the wooden frame before cladding. You would not want rust to reappear after the hard work you've put into your QL. Keep up the good work!
  11. See http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?18973-Canvass-colours
  12. 11.00-20 (not 11.00x20!) is a current size, fitted to many US military trucks, so they are abundant in bar grip style. I have seen 11.00-20 Trak Grip tyres on Green Goddess fire trucks, those would be an ideal pattern tyre for your CMP truck.
  13. Clive, Thanks for the clarification! Let's hope it was dislexia and not disinterest or plain stupidness.... All I have ever seen are NATO olive Lightweights, or camouflaged ones, hence I was surprised to learn about them being DBG. Must admit this was more towards the end of their service life after they must have been repainted many times over. Or is there a possibility those ordered by foreign governments (Netherlands, Denmark) were delivered in the colour specified by those Armies? Thanks, Hanno
  14. Robin, thanks for the reply and Ruxy, sorry but I cannot follow the last bit you mentioned. Any Land Rover anoraks out there who can tell us more?
  15. Seeing Ivor's picture of a Lightweight in DBG in Land-Rover S2A Lightweight in service I remembered a picture of one of the Dutch Lightweight prototypes in DBG too. My question is whether Lightweights (or other Land Rovers for that matter) were delivered in DBG or in olive green? Were they delivered in DBG and overpainted in olive green in service when they were in need of a repaint? Or was this an early vs late feature ? Thanks in advance! Hanno
  16. Hi Lauren, While Gordon is right about the aspect ratio, also for the same size there are always differences in diameter between the various brands. Furthermore I have seen a tyre sidewall marked "11.00-20 replaces 10.50-20". I have since learned this was a "new alternative size marking" for the 10.50-20 tyres listed in the wartime Data Book of Wheeled Vehicles, so it must have been a wartime change. (Interestingly, while this tyre originally had Dunlop TrakGrip tread, it was recapped at least twice, the last time with NDCC bar tread.) If I were you I would try to exchange your 10.50's for 11.00-20 tyres. Hanno
  17. DBG must be one of the best looking shades of army paint..... Here's a picture of a Dutch Lightweight prototype in DBG. Production ones were in olive drab.
  18. Hi Dan, Great to see you around on here, it has been a few years but we met at Beltring once or twice. Good to hear you got that Staghound and are restoring it. Regards, Hanno
  19. A 17-pdr Pheasant, that's exciting! Did you find an original one or are you reconstructing one from parts? Googled a few pics for the forum members who have never seen one.
  20. Fascinating! Looks like the B17 is currently missing its cockpit section?
  21. Just watched it, very good documentary !
  22. Noted the non-driven front axle, 6x4 is rare and much more usable on today's roads. But anyone brave enough to tackle a basket case like this is entitled to turn it into whatever he wants me thinks! Will be following progress as it is rare to see this sort of effort spent on a US truck.
