  1. He does indeed, he is probably heading for southern Europe. Nice bunch of people though, a fair few interesting story's around the fire at night.
  2. They were at war and peace last year, camped next to us.
  3. I think you may find that whilst looking like the same shells, there are indeed subtle differences between the tank helmet and parachutist helmet. Position of the liner retaining screws differs from the rivets of the tanker helmet, and I believe the width of the two shells is also slightly different. To my understanding the lift the dot shells came in late 45, so in my opinion its a very nice post war tank helmet. Your son is a very lucky lad, and will more than likely be a future collector.
  4. It works for my but my account is yet to be accepted. Would love to see some of the restoration projects but sadly i cant.:embarrassed: Ollie
  5. My dad says he often used to slide it underneath the flap on the 58 large pack. Pain in the backside anywhere else to be honest.
  6. 20 secconds well spent, can’t beat the beasty sound of that B60.:-D
  7. The majority of first war medals in my collection (including many of my own relatives) have all been named including the MM. Its completely the opposite for the second war medals i have. I have my great grandfathers medals who fought in Burma with only the Burma star named and another relatives with the Italy and Atlantic stars named.
  8. Second world war display at Duxford a few years ago. oh look he is making a cup of tea, is that fire real? Stick your hand on it, it doesn't mind.:cool2: That rifles a fake right?, errrrr no its real. Bull **** its fake, TEST FIRE oh ok maybe it is real. I like your type 99, thanks but its a Bren.
  9. I found the original escape from Colditz game that my dad gave me, oh and a load of RPG Traveler games with some of the first white dwarf magazines.:cheesy:
  10. Go on be different and paint it white. It would make a nice change to seeing all the black and green, in the end if you get bored of the colour you can just repaint it.
  11. Two years ago, i spotted an old army kit bag on top of a skip. Hmmm I thought i know what that is ill rescue it. I opened it after I got it home I pulled out one set of BDs a great coat, parachute smock and an two maroon berets. Another find after a boot sale had ended, someone was sticking what looked like an officers jacket in the bin. Turned out to be a 1917 dated officers jacket.:-D
  12. I love the Bedford range of trucks, from the oldest I have driven ie the OY & QL to the more recent MK & MJ. Hard to explain why I guess its down the reliability and robustness of the things. :cheesy:
  13. Not gone since 2007, but an event worth going to as there is a good verity of displays and stalls. Beer tent is good as well from what I remember.
  14. An RB44 (Civi) driving along the A149 near Snetisham (in service) this morning and a Daff near Docking around lunch time.
  15. This is one pig im looking foreword to seeing restored. Big dan Not seen those two photos, ta for posting them.
  16. I do remember them and found one of them to be a right arrogant tw@, no idea who they were but im now intrigued to find out.
  17. Very nice, interesting to see the 3rd division flash on the wing as well.:cheesy:
  18. I wouldn’t of thought the low pressure fibre liner would of been all that common as jump liner anyway. Only managed to find one so far, they are certainly rarer than most of the high pressure liners. But agree a fair few post war liners (mostly CAPAC) in the series, i think J.Murry rebuilt most of them.
  19. Welcome to the forum, looks like there are a few of us kicking about in Norfolk.
  20. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but it would save me making another. Im currently looking for some good clear photos of this type of mount and possibly of any in-service use photos, also any leads on were one of these mounts maybe obtained. Much appreciated Ollie

Well i did quite well this year, makes a change:D Land rover military portfolio Military Land Rover: Development and in Service The Half Ton Military Land Rover Land Rover Series I, II and III Restoration Manual (not a bad book at all) A new snug pack sleeping bag to keep me warm in the Bedford MJ at night:blush: Clansman 319 radio set TacBe-449 A few airfix kits Two jumpers that make me look like a cacoon, socks, socks, socks, oh and some more bloody socks.
  23. Most of the time we use 24hr ration packs with a few tins of other crap to add. Suits us as its quick and easy, we also use a very simple three hob cooker that seems to do the trick. At some point in the future I wouldn’t mind investing in a 12x12 and a no5 field cook set, not only does it add to the display it would make things a hell of a lot easier, i think a bloody good chicken korma with some fresh naan bread would go down a treat.:cool2: Any idea on the going price for said cook said?
  24. That’s fair enough, still i enjoyed myself apart from a bad case of a leaking cab on the way home:-(:banghead:. No idea why my last post came up in blue.
