  1. Porta, I just love your occupation. I hope you risk assessed yourself getting on top of that Gaz?
  2. Hello mate, The best bet would be Maidstone Kia (Bedford Parts). They hold the stock of Bedford Parts. The guy you need to speak to is Dave Abbott, very nice bloke. LW Vass might also have stocks of these. http://www.maidstonekia.co.uk/parts.shtml
  3. On the site they have a guide price of £17,000 but I reckon £10,000 would probably secure. This truck was excellent when I drove it, that's going back a few years though. She still looks in good nick. I hope it goes to a good home.
  4. Please, will someone purchase 77 KH 17 in the tender. This DROPS was one of my old Troops DROPS. I have photo's of me with this vehicle when I was in the Army. If only I had the money!!! I'd love to be reunited with the old girl, she is a very good truck and I see they have given her a respray!!!! 87 KH 03 was also in my Troop. http://www.mod-sales.com/vehicleImage/29972.htm
  5. Bedford TM 8 tonner and TM 14 tonner with comms bodies turning off the M4 onto the M25 - Army vehicles. Also Foden Wrecker and Layland Daf 4 tonner heading South on the A34 - TA vehicles.
  6. Got my pass yesterday...:-D Please tell me that the display fields are flat? The last few have seen the truck parked on a hill and I go to bed on one side of the truck and end up on the other:nut::-D
  7. Just got off the phone with my mate Mark. He has authorised me to tell you that his book "The Half Ton Military Land Rover" should be re-printed in August. The book has undergone some minor changes and contains some new photo's etc. I will update as and when he gets the release date.
  8. Tony, I just got off the phone with Mark Cook. He told me that for it to be a para Recce vehicle it needs to be 24v. He said your GF registered vehicle was 12v. So I guess if you want an authentic vehicle you need to convert to 24 volt.
  9. Cosrec, You know you might just have something there!!! I registered the truck on the 13th of July 2009, so would they round this off to the 01st of August? That seems a very plausable argument, I think you have just hit it on the head. That would make sense of the date on the form. Panic over (by the looks of it)
  10. Has anyone got a vehicle over 7.5 tonnes registered as a Motor Caravan? If you have, can you tell me how much the road tax is for this class of vehicle please?
  11. There is no hardship. But less than two months notice if it is true is not enough considering you have to give no less than a months notice to VOSA for a test appointment.
  12. I have just spoken to the DVLA and the lady I have spoken too is going to contact the DVLA Policy branch tomorrow and get back to me. We will see what they have to say!
  13. Hi mark, That must be some lens on your camera mate as those pictures are awesome. Wish my lens was that big!:-\
  14. So if it is standard wording, why has there been a date of August 01st 2010 put onto the V11? Usually the wording is; "A current MOT Certificate" or words to that effect. Has anyone got an old V11 they can have a look at to see what the wording says? I would have thought it would have said something like "this vehicle requires a Goods Vehicle Test Certificate" then if the vehicle is exempt you go through the usual V112 and tick in the box route. What concerns me is why has a date of 01st August 2010 been put on? I would have thought "This vehicle requires a Goods Vehicle Test certificate from 01st August 2010" means exactly that. So either the DVLA are jumping the gun and have got their facts wrong, or it has been brought in. Lee can you ask him to contact the DVLA and confirm what this wording means please? I think we all need to be very clear on this because as it's in black and white it's hard to dispute!
  15. There was no leaflet explaining, just a small note on the V11. Click on the picture a few times to enlarge it if you think your eyes are tricking you, like I did!!! But there it is in black and white. Mk3iain, This is the UK mate. They don't listen to us the people. The only reason they had this consultation in my mind was to go through the motions to satisfy the legalities. They have introduced it and not bothered with the follow up consultation. Regarding the law coming in next year, well it may well do for others, but it's in black and white on my V11, so as of August 01st that's it for me. No more shows. I need to think about my options.
  16. The date of introduction of the MOT for previously exempt vehicles is 01st August 2010. This has been confirmed on my V11 Tax Renewal form.:banghead:
  17. I've got a broken oven in my kitchen that I have to take a day off from work on Wednesday for the guy to look at.:angry
  18. Here are a few of me. Most of my pictures are of the printed type (never had Digital when I was in the Army) so I only have a few scanned into the computer. 1) Me standing by one of my Troops Volvo BM4400's 2) Commanding a Saxon Ambulance 3) On the deck of the RFA ship the Sir Galahad 4) Standing by the Cyprus Airways Trident, the last civilian plane to land at Nicosia International Airport just as the invasion was taking place. 5) 12,000ft above Dhekelia airstrip. 6) Me jumping out of an Islander. 7) Standing by the Glover Webb APV that I'm just about to take out on patrol. 8) Downtime in a Sub at Girdwood. 9) Me today by my Bedford MJ.
  19. We left quite late on Friday (about 20.00) for this show, but as it's located just outside Marlborough it didn't take too long to get there and we arrived about 21.30. This is the first time we have been to this show. I have to be honest, when we first showed up it looked a little too Agricultural for my liking and I was in two minds about it. But after the weekend had finished I was throughly converted, what a great show!!! It is more biased towards Tractors and agricultural machinery but there was a good showing of Steam and Vintage vehicles. There was a large area for ploughing, both steam and tractor and also an area displaying ploughing by Heavy Horses. Threshing, bailing and hay making were also being displayed. The location was second to none for the view you get as it sits in a bowl with high hills all around (which you can climb up if your up to it!). The Kennet Valley Area of the MVT were the locals and had a small but interesting display, the highlight of which for me was a WW2 Searchlight which was fired up each evening (although it had to be turned off on Friday night after an Apache took more than a passing interest:wow:) There were also several Fire Appliances in attendence. The show had a fantastic beer tent. Friday night was a sort of Disco. Saturday night they had the live England game on a massive screen followed by a very good live band playing music for all tastes. The entertainment was totally free (why can't Military Vehicle shows do the same???) and the show was very well run. The arena had events running all day with a good PA system. There were a lot of traders but not much on the Military front for obvious reasons. The weather was pretty good and was very warm on Sunday. The public attendance was excellent and I was constantly engaged with the public on both days regarding the truck and it's history. This was a great, friendly show. I hope that this report will encourage more Military Exhibiters next year to give it a go. More Post War vehicles are definitely needed, as if it wasn't for Mark Simpers Defender 110 Wolf rep then I would have been on my own. You also get a "proper" brass plaque.:-D
  20. Can't see the pictures mate. I owned a LightWeight once, it was my first Land Rover. I sold it to Serlo of XWD fame. He bought it to make it into a Para Recce vehicle, but never did see it again. The reg number on that was 74 FM 25. I remember it had a normal one piece tailgate and was a 24v FFR vehicle. I can ask my mate Mark Cook if he has any photo's of a Para Recce LW that he can send to me for you if he doesn't mind. His book is going through a reprint and should be in the shops soon I would have thought. I can give him a call later if you want me to? Andy
  21. I've never off roaded the Land Rover unless it's dry and never go in water. I went up to the top of my windscreen in my Lightweight once in a flooded ford, that was enough!
  22. "I told them fools at supply I wanted a load of Durex, not Dunlops!"
  23. Sorry but it has to be the M60A3 MBT. This tank is the best looking and best sounding tank. This tank looks like a real tank, big and mean looking. The Continental V12 twin turbo diesel engine running 750BHP is just sweet nectar to the ears, if I could, I'd have this engine mounted in the back of a trailer and run it at shows just for the sound of those turbos!! See what I mean?
