  1. Good luck with the wedding, your a brave man!!:cool2: We are heading down this Friday. Last year I came down on the Saturday and it was packed already, luckily my mate saved me some space. This year I'm driving the Bedford and my Missus is driving the Defender 110. We are meeting up with a mate who's driving up from Cornwall in his M109A2 and heading down to the show. That's two Heavy trucks, Defender, 2 x 12x12 tents, shower tent, admin area, then there are my mates who would like to camp with us so that's another Reo, Land Rover, Bedford MW. None of us can get up there before we come down, so I'm just hoping that on Friday there is still enough room.
  2. I've been looking at buying a suitable Mag mounted LED Amber warning light to put on the back of the truck and I've seen this one for sale which looks pretty good. It's called the Redtronic Mega-Flash 360 LED Beacon. It has 18 OSRAM Category 3 LED's in it and has a night dim and programmable flash patterns. 12-30 volts, fully UK manufactured and full 5 year warranty. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. What do you think, has anyone else got one of their light systems? Here's the link, http://www.redtronic.co.uk/Assets/Videos/em196_beacon.swf (Beacon working) http://www.redtronic.co.uk/beacon_led_EM196.html (website)
  3. That's exactly what I'm talking about Martin. It's not good when you pay a fortune to enter the show and a fortune in fuel to get there, turn up a WEEK early and there is no room. I've seen it all before. People marking out massive amounts of room and not having the vehicles or admin to fill the space. Last year there was an ugly incident where some people turned up and demanded to park in some space "reserved" for others who were supposed to be turning up about 3 or 4 days later. The people who were supposed to park there went somewhere else. There was a very heated conversation to the point I thought it was going to kick off. If you have the vehicles then that's fine, but some people are just plain greedy and take far too much space. A perfect example is these people who own massive American sized motorhomes who bring a Jeep and cordon off massive areas. If it was a free show then not much you can do, but when you pay to get in then you have a right to the space you need for what you have booked in (Military wise). Personally I think they should only release the space a week before the show. Most of us can't make it down to Kent weeks in advance to claim our plot. It should be a level playing field for everyone!!
  4. What's all this talk about Jewish Groups and Hippies??? Is there something else on next week I need to know about? I hope all the space hasn't been eaten up, I can see there might be trouble like there was last year regarding space rage!
  5. Are you talking about Cadmans Low Loader? When I was driving down to W&P last year it went FLYING past me. I wonder if his fuse has blown in the speed limiter department?:cool2: Is there many people there all ready? We will be there this time next week, hopefully there will still be space when we get there?
  6. Spotted on Saturday flying over Buckingham heading South, the VULCAN BOMBER:D
  7. I'm in, if I remember about it. The memory is pretty bad for that sort of thing.:-|
  8. Avoid France like the plague. Try a different route, maybe Belgium then Holland. If you go through France you might not have anything to show for it at the other end.
  9. But as a responsible MV owner you wouldn't be going 15mph over the speed limit for towing a trailer would you???
  10. That's the plan of action for me also. The last three or four years I've been in Big Monkton right by the corner of the bottom field and the exit road. TOO MUCH DUST!!!! So I'm thinking of finding a nice spot next to a hedge line somewhere - however I know people go down weeks before and mark out their spots so I'm hoping we will find somewhere quiet and away from the main tracks.
  11. W&P is a very big show. I would say your tents would more than likely be safe left unattended, but I would remove anything of value if you are going to leave them alone. Make friends with a few neighbours and ask them to keep an eye on your tent when they are there. The River Medway does indeed pass through the Hop Farms land. You will probably need to call the Hop Farm and ask for permission to fish, of course you will need a rod licence. Go onto the Hop Farms website for contact details. As far as swimming the River, well that's down to you. There have been drownings in the River at this event and like any body of water where you don't know the depth, what's in there and temperature and current fluctuations, I would stay well away.
  12. If I owned a tractor that was never used on public roads and decided to trailer it to a show and then when I turned up, HMRC were there waiting to dip my tank, then what are they trying to prove? If you have trailered the tractor to the event you have not committed any offence. As you use the tractor on private land, again you have committed no offence. Also it is perfectly legal to have a road registered tractor and use it on a public highway with red diesel if you are using it to access another part of your land and in order to do that, drive on the public highway. In order for someone to be caught committing an offence they need to be caught in the act. In the red diesel case they need to be caught using it on a public highway without a valid exemption. Trailering in a tractor to a show is not committing an offence and therefor the HMRC would have no grounds to nick you.
  13. The support vehicle passes were a mistake, just got off the phone with Barbara Dixon, so it's a good job I called. She is going to put a blank support vehicle pass in with my booking in pack and when they turn up they will put the reg number of their car onto the pass so that they can park in the support vehicle car park. They have the names of the guests on the computer so wristbands shouldn't be an issue! She also stated that this years show has been absolutely manic compaired to all the others and there are more vehicles booked in than ever. Looks like it's going to be a massive one this year!
  14. The most important lesson there should be NEVER buy a vehicle unseen!
  15. Just opened my Exhibiters Pack. QUESTION I have booked both the Bedford and Defender into the show. I have also named two people and bought two extra passes, so that will be six adults total, but only two of us will be getting there on the Friday, the others will be there the following Thursday. I have been issued with two vehicle passes (1x Bedford and 1x Land Rover) and two SUPPORT VEHICLE passes with the registration numbers of the Bedford and Land Rover???? Are these passes the extra two adult passes I purchased? Has anyone else bought extra passes and had support vehicle passes come through with the civilian registration of their exhibit in their pack? My Exhibit numbers are; LV553 HV222
  16. We are going down on the Friday before the main week. Can't wait for the show, I think the Beltring weather gods may have returned!!
  17. You haven't got a head gasket gone have you? Is there pressure in the header tank that's causing the coolant to be ejected? What's the oil like?
  18. Yes. It actually has Saxon axles fitted to it and a Perkins engine. He told me it's good for 70mph (which I can believe as we were doing that in the Saxons we had) and weighs about 10 tonnes. Interestingly it's taxed as a PLG.
  19. The Wolf is a totally different animal. Not only is it different cosmetically, it's also different mechanically, with rear disc brakes, different rear axle, 300 TDI engine (I think), gearbox, uprated suspension etc. This is a Land Rover on steroids. Also as there are hardly any in private hands the rarety also adds to the value.
  20. I was chatting to the guy who owns the Simba. It's the only one in private hands in the world. There were a 150 built and all went to the Philippines. The guy who owns it actually works for BAE Systems (GKN) and was the one who accompanied the vehicles to the Philippines as they were delivered in kit form and he went along to show them how to build it. He said he actually built the one he owns himself and was in a position to purchase this one from GKN (as it was then). God knows what he paid for it but I bet it wasn't cheap!!
  21. Hi Gary, Very interesting trailer you have won there. It's interesting how you guys bid for equipment and then have to go to the base to collect it. In this country most of the equipment is sold by one company (Withams) and they collect the equipment from the various bases around the country and take it back to their yard. When you buy a vehicle or trailer you then have to go to their premisis to collect it.
  22. Hi Paul, Just like to thank you for a great show. The WW2 Camp was great and you could tell a lot of time and effort went into it. As it's a central location no doubt next year will be even bigger and better than this year. Thanks for all your efforts and book me in for next year mate. Cheers Andy
