  1. Hi Yorky56, Morris C8FAT is right when he says that an article appeared in Windscreen, the MVT's excellent journal. It was number 110 of Spring 2006, a very informative piece by Geoff Fletcher with pictures accessed by Bernard Venners and our very own Clive Elliott. It not only shows the Le Tourneau launchers 01BX76/77, but the myriad of American M series vehicles in the 01 BX range used, to supply, fuel and maintain these missiles. The British Militant tractor unit ( to haul the Corporal in its pod) and the AEC/FWD/Jones ten-ton crane are also shown. Good luck, Mike.
  2. May I add to this thread by also patting Ian Young of MMI on the back. He is a very good editor and having worked with him on a few occasions, (not as many as I would like!) have found him to be a "good lad". One of his major attributes is that he responds to his e-mails, and quickly, especially whilst under considerable pressure to get his mags out. Good to hear that he has helped you out with the World War One Nash and FWD truck stories. Bw, Mike.
  3. As you can tell by my ‘handle’, I am a great lover of the Humber, having had the wireless version in the far-off distant past and had the pleasure of owning a Pig and a few FV1600 cargos. I loved the sound of the Rolls B60, the enormous pulling power and the incredible, off-road suspension, however, the maintenance was a bit of a nightmare; I lost count of the number of grease nipples it had! However, although it is said at the beginning of this thread, that the Humber enthusiast isn’t well supported, well, HMVF is the best forum to be on, as we have our own real expert in Clive aka FV1609, whose past articles in Windscreen magazine and his continuing help with anything Humber has to be applauded and appreciated. Thanks, Clive. Bw, Mike.
  4. For Sale. Dyson tank transporter trailers for sale. Pair of FV3601 four-axle 32-wheel trailers to accompany Diamond T or Antar; One very complete and one fairly complete (tank stop and drawbar cut off), both need full renovation, but becoming rare now. 18 tons of fun! The pair for sale together at £9500 o.v.n.o. Offering these on behalf of a friend. Lying south coast of UK. Haulage cost; around £1k each to mid-UK. (Transportation quote available-- haulier awaiting instruction.) New project and change of direction forces sale. Serious buyers. For further info/pictures--- pm me or e-mail antarman@orange.fr
  5. Hi Rick (eddy8 men), The Antar survived too, It now has a family home in Essex with caring owners. Bw, Mike.
  6. Hi, Don't know about the Dodge, but the Latil was bought in 1993 and restored in two years by John Bishop and friends. Now being rallied in his name. It is a 1938 vehicle. Source of information 4wdonline/latil . Pictures and background can be found there. Bw, Mike.
  7. Thanks Ian, It is quite an unsettling experience! Can I assume (always a dangerous thing to do) that 50 EK 64 is chassis 63252 and can I also read into the 12/85 mention, that she was the other of the two Antars from Rush Green. I don't suppose anybody knows the number of the remaining gang of three, still???? residing in R.G. Thanks again, Best wishes, Mike.
  8. Thanks Guys, I think I am up to speed, but still confused about the Ebay 'Said Antar' link. 50EK64 is certainly a 'newbie' on us and I thank all concerned in bringing it to our attention. If 'theashcollection' or Ian would like to send me a good pic of her, I can include this missing link before publication! Pm always monitored and acknowledged! Thank You. Mike.
  9. Thanks Ian, Nice picture of this mark 3 on Antar Gallery thread 5. Perhaps you can enlarge on the situation. Do you know which one this is, as it appears to have no markings on it, in either photograph? Is this the end product of the Rush Green pair? Alternatively, if "theashcollection" could return with some information on it, it would be most appreciated as the Ebay book advert attached to the Antar link is decidely uninteresting. Visual post or pm fine. Thanks. Bw,Mike.
  10. Hi John/Neil, Not only the wrong planet, the wrong jungle too. I will be pleased to see theashcollection return with a true picture of "their" Antar and not a link to an Ebay advert! Beware!
  11. No, we are a little confused, Moviemars--are we on the same planet? Explain please, this Antar, could you describe it further. Look forward to your response.
  12. Let's not get confused between silver-plated, or even Chromium-plated metal as presented to some long-serving members of tt squadrons and solid silver. Very few were made in solid silver and were much larger than 1/76th scale. This is the very expensive piece, Paul is referring to. It is in the forthcoming book! Mike.
  13. Hello Mighty Antar, Thanks very much for posting that video clip, really useful. The Land-Rover leading the convoy off at the end says it all. You have definitely made Paul Brook's weekend and mine! Best wishes, Mike.
  14. Hi Andy, Great news, look forward to watching progress on it! Bw,Mike.
  15. Hi John, No, nothing on my 'radar' of a restored mark three in Norfolk! Not even a whisper! Bw,Mike.
  16. Hi John, Paul and everyone else who know us, A happy New Year to you all. Unfortunately, I can't add to that one. I was contacted "out of the blue" by a well-wisher, who said that there was an Antar in Rush Green as he had been a regular visitor over the years. I wrote to them via e-mail and got a one word reply "sold". Explaining the situation, I wrote again asking to call to get a shot of it and, of course, received no reply.Would be happy to hear from anyone who has access to the yard, as would like to know which one it is/was.... We do however have a shot of it taken earlier! Best wishes, Mike.
  17. Hi John, Colin and Ed, You will soon be able to read all about every Antar that’s around, then you can take your pick Ed! “The book” is almost finished. Don’t suppose you have a still photograph of it at the Tunnel, Ed, please? Best wishes, and a happy Christmas to all, Mike.
  18. Sorry to hear about George. I bought my Austin K9 off him back in 1985, we did a good deal, as he drove it half way up the country and we drove it home from Towcester. Always remember him as a nice guy to do business with. A great loss to the movement. R.I.P. George.
  19. Hi Matt, Well done for finding those pictures, proves that 1987 didn't see the last Antar leave BA service, despite the fact it was off census. This is 12DM76, later becoming Bovington static display, now being restored to its former glory in Cumbria with our friend Paul Brook, at Rusty Trucks. She will be beautiful once again! Regards, Mike.
  20. As Richard says, I, too, have only heard that two were supplied. It/they were sold off from Ruddington; one was seen heading north up the M1 shortly afterwards, which may have been the one bought by Pasturefields recovery services in Leicester. they re-cabbed it, I believe. The Alvis/Berliet marketing agreement extended to the Stalwart too and attempts were made to sell it in France under the name of 'Auroch'( ancient wild cattle--potentially translated as Oxen, strong/strength!) Mike.
  21. And about time too! Welcome Wally, you know who I am by the 'handle' Really great to see you on here, you have been a great help to so many people in your time, definitely are one of the good guys. All the best, Mike.
  22. Sorry LandyAndy, regards to all you guys at Bordon. NGY73 would have been a mark two, this is a mark three and is 12DM85 for those interested in numbers. and yes, our member did a fine job on what was a very large piece of scrap a few months back!
  23. Thanks Smithy. At the moment all I can say is Wow! C'mon guys, someone must know if it is still around!
  24. Hi Smithy, I, too, would be interested to know if it survived, 11 years is a long time though. Did the article say which part of Gloucestershire it was in. The number you have read is probably right as it could be a Ministry of Supply allocated vehicle from its delivery in 1954. This mark two with the Meteorite engine was re-registered in the army system later, which is why it is a little odd that it should still have its Ministry plate showing. Anybody in that neck of the woods know more!
  25. Hi guys, I love aeroplanes too, but can I remind you that we are the HMVF, Historic Military Vehicle forum. there are plenty of sites for aircraft spotters. Can I try to return the theme to perhaps the latest exciting happening in hmvf terms and that is the unveiling of a new gate guardian at Leconfield and the exceptional work done by one of ours, Paul Brook, in record time and on-deadline. Well, that's me off the custard cream party list! Best wishes, Mike.
