Thanks Richard, i have initially insured the Chev with Hagertys, mainly because I was impressed with the way they recovery Andy M from Normandy. But it weighs even more than I'd first thought, a lot more than their slightly "flexible" 3.5 tonnes. Unless they really do review current policy on weight I'll move Adrian Flux.

Are there any recommendations or advice for choosing breakdown and recovery cover for a 6 tonne historic truck? Hagertys currently don't cover vehicles of more than 3.5 T, which is disappointing but hopefully under review. A vehicle under between 3.5 and 7.5 T shouldn't be any more difficult to recover than a large motor home. Thanks

Canadian Wreckers were supplied with two wooden rollers. The Canadian Army Service Bulletin of 17-9-43 contained a series of modifications to wreckers to be undertaken by workshops. One of the mods was to make brackets to secure the rollers to the booms

My "new" truck. Imported back to UK yesterday, 70 years after it left for France, with help of good friend James Gosling. This Chevrolet was subject to an extensive three year restoration from 2002 to 2005 with great skill and persistence by Maarten Broekhizen in the Netherlands. The data plate in the cab is: C - 60448 - M - GS - 9 Here are few photos: White Cliffs of Dover and new home: I am very interested to know if there is a specific manual or instruction book for the Wrecker. Dave, Agree with you, not a Lightweight No2. They are longer and have noticeably more overhang behind axle

Hi, I've looked for WWII photos of the No2 Airborne trailer when I had one as part of the collection, but I never managed to find any. The nearest is this newspaper clip gleaned from somewhere on the internet and shows a Korean War photo of one in use:

While waiting last Thursday in the Chunnel car-park....guess what trundled in from London. Looked superb and I see from today's BBC coverage where it was going.

Local news in London showed some of it being destroyed in a controlled explosion in a near-by field.

​A real privilege to be involved at the Goodwood Revival this year. Here are a range of photos.... The item being loaded into my Airborne trailer is a spare GT40 Gearbox (worth a fortune as I'm told the car is £4M), before we took it up to the circuit. I've been involved in several parades over the years, ranging from 1995 Tribute and Promise in the Mall to Bayeux this June, but there was something special and very moving about yesterday. A unique event that Goodwood are not planning to repeat. I was fortunate to be one able to provide and drive one of the 23 Jeeps taking the veterans around the circuit. "My" veteran, Charlie, was a leading seamen who saw the Atlantic Convoys and landed on Sword on 6th June in an LST. He was amazed at the number of spectators who lined the whole track and applauded the veterans as we drove them round.

Goedemorgen, I am considering buying and importing into the UK a WWII truck from the Netherlands. It is running and on the road. I have seen its full Nederland registration document. My question is: is there any current requirement for a seperate certificate of roadworthiness (or similar) in the Netherlands for vehicles this old? Dank u wel, John

And few more....taken on Sunday, shows the ground conditions towards end of show (when many of the public had started to leave) The white van driver had recently become an IMPS member....and think was surprised to find himself being recovered by the IMPS Chairman late on Sunday. What service! W&PR 2014 finished on a high for me, with a surprise award for best BSA "parabike".

And a few more photos. Driving James Gosling's C15 Armoured truck around arena on Friday in heat and dust changed overnight to mud. Friday's storm and early rain on Saturday didn't put off the PWRR's first appearance at W&P. Hope it proved to be a good recruiting tool: I've selected a few photos of the weekend. The unusual black Russian Armoured Car is original WWII (not a LR based build up, Tim).

I attended again this year on Saturday. Weather far better than forecast and seemed to bring out a few more of the public. Displays included some very interesting WWII Russian kit ....(but don't seem to have taken any photos). Couple of photos I did take: Austin Seven posing.... The Airborne REME trailers received the usual amazement from a number of visitors that they were designed to be gliderborne: Thanks to everyone who worked hard to organise the show again this year.
