  1. Stone, That's a difficult one to answer. They are wider and longer. The wheels, tracks, sprockets, dampers and many other parts are the same as the rest of the variants. The final drives are different, but the Stormer final drives are now being fitted to the other variants. Not sure how the Stormer engine and gearbox compare to the CVR(T) (D) variants, but they will be different to the Petrol ones. A lot of parts such as the clutch are upgraded to take the extra torque from the diesel engine, and the brakes are also uprated. CVR(T) vehicles are constantly having new parts fitted, they are quite different now to how they were built. Chris

  3. Rob, When you take it on the road I think you'll need to add some weight on the back. If I remember correctly the other sand coloured one had the internal stowage compartments under the load bed full of metal and concrete to give it some traction. I saw it tow a Samaritan on wet grass and the tracks were slipping quite badly! Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it! Chris
  4. Sorry Rob, I didn't know the deal was that complicated! Does it have the dampers fitted? Chris
  5. The Stallion was the ptototype for the Stormer based Shielder. A small number were built and sent to the Gulf in 1991. At least 3 survive, the one on milweb was rescued by a friend of mine and sold on to A&S. Here are photos of the other 2...

  7. Lee, I have all the books in that series, they are excellent, especially the BAOR ones. Chris

    Snow..

There's not been too much snow here, but it was fun going for a drive off the main roads.
  10. Clearly they do manage to move, and don't snap in half, otherwise they wouldn't have done it.
  11. Chris, It sounds like a stuck brake, which is quite common. Chris

  13. Hi Jim, I have 02CC84 just down the road from you in Nottingham. There is another in Derby and a few in Stoke. Chris
  14. Neil, You need a 3G enabled Sim. They should give you one when you upgraded. You should have got an iPhone though... Chris
  15. If it is 2 pack polyurethane paint make sure you are wearing air fed respirators and doing it in a properly ventilated and extracted spray booth. It's very nasty stuff and most places won't sell it to non trade users. The mod surplus stuff is not very good, it's porus and absorbs water. It fades very quickly and looks rubbish after a couple of years. Be careful sanding it down and make sure you wear a respirator as the dust is nasty stuff. It's much easier, cheaper and safer to avoid all these 2 pack paints.
  16. The RLC museum will not have Merlin, just the history cards themselves. 5 years is also what the Tank Museum suggest you need to allow before you can get the cards from there too.
  17. Paul, They won't sell you a number like that. Chris
  18. Chris, This is fairly common. The MoD had a lot more Ferrets than it needed, and they mostly sat in depots waiting for WW3 to kick off. Many of them were issued for less time than yours, I know mine was in service for around 1 year. It was rebuilt in 72 and didn't leave the depot untill they sold it off in 1994. When I bought it it had 500 miles on the clock. Many were released with less than this. Although they were in storage they still had a servicing program and were upgraded when required. Chris
  19. Robin, You need to talk to the guy at Land Rover Tracability. I was able to get all the data for my Wolf based on the chassis number, even the servicing history from the dealer who looked after it while under waranty. I am in the US at the moment, but I'll dig out the details when I get home. I think it costs approx £15. Chris
  20. Richard, That's a generic webpage which appears when the domain has been expired and been bought by a holding company. Chris
  21. Matt, These pads were fitted as standard. Post some photos of what you've got and I'll tell you what's missing. Chris
  22. Tim, If you like a lot of driving, and aircraft, try this one... http://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/ It's free and there's lots to see. Chris
  23. The letter code is designated by the year the vehicles were ordered, not produced. For example FD is 1970-71 but I have a 1973 CVR(T) and a 1975 CVR(W) both with FD numbers.
  24. This list looks like it's been compiled from photos, with the location seen or photographed on the right hand side.
