  1. Andrew, The idea of the lines on the hubs is that they are aligned to show you have no issues with the hubs or bevel boxes. You might want to repaint them so they are lined up! Chris

    What to buy

Where did you get your 10-12k estimate from? I think you could easily spend your £50k and not get 3 CVRTs... not nice ones anyway!
  3. Some photos and info... there is way too much in the manuals etc to post here. Chris
  4. Tim, I have the manuals and training video. Will post something later when at home. They are also fitted to Warrior and Challenger 2. Possibly some helicopters too. Chris
  5. The FV432 is a Mk 2/1, probably from the mid-late 60s so could have been in Aden since it ended in '67.
  6. There's a big difference between your tyres and some on a Defender! If you're worried about them, get someone to check them over and give you a verdict. I'm sure they are fine for the limited miles you're going to do.

  8. Surely it would be easier to source a replacement alternator than go to all that trouble? Try someone breaking Military Series 3s, or look on eBay.
  9. It's actually a Centurion. Chris
  10. 03FD47 was with 1 Staffords in 2003.
  11. Ah, not anymore! I was in a pub the other week which had a door handle which replaced a plastic cover itself after each use. It was one of these... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vpxDmNwSdU&feature=related
  12. Mark, Buy a replacement filter, there is a new O-ring in the box which you should fit to the housing. Also place a copper washer under the bolt head before refitting. http://www.ekmpowershop5.com/ekmps/shops/greenmachines/cvrtcvrw-oil-filter-1383-p.asp You may think £25 for a filter is expensive, but the minimum order from the manufacturers is to buy 10 at £30 each, so it's actually pretty a good deal! Chris
  13. Not yet Andy! I've been busy getting the last few jobs on the M151 done - needed a new steering box according to the MOT tester. Also had to replace the radiator on the Wolf, and some bushes on the rear axle. Then swap the old idlers on my restored Sabre for some new ones, and service it.... always plenty to do! This one has been pencilled in for a couple of months of intense work after Beltring though! Chris
  14. Have you had a look at Withams? They will have bought them there, and added on some profit.
  15. One on eBay here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EAGER-BEAVER-EX-ARMY-EX-MOD-ROUGH-TERRAIN-FORK-LIFT-/220794394609?pt=UK_Collectables_Militaria_LE&hash=item33685f17f1 Chris
  16. Robin, Have you tried asking the seller? Chris
  17. I have Merlin prints for CVRTs from the early 70s. All in service vehicles seem to have been moved over to the database, but it was not back filled so you need both the paper record card and the database print out to get the full story.
  18. You can get a new one made by these guys http://www.comptons2000.co.uk/ Chris
  19. I have a box of item 4 - the bolts which hold the wheel on - if you manage to get the rest! Chris
  20. Dan, What you have is not a spare wheel carrier, it's the lifting sling introduced to help get the wheel on to the carrier on the Defender . It's some health and safety thing which I find easier to ignore than to use. The side mounted spare wheel fits on to a bracket bolted to the roll cage as per the image below. Chris
  21. Robin, Was the Supacat running when you tried jumping from it? What size is the alternator on it? Maybe it just wasn't kicking out enough amps to turn over the Stormer. Chris
  22. The problem we had was trying to start a dead 432 with a Sabre. The socket on the 432 wasn't earthing, with the A frame from the Sabre to the 432 it fired right up. Once we figured this out it was easier to touch the 2 vehicles together rather than mess around with an A frame or jump lead!
  23. It is Syntolack Matt finish from Paint Shop Supplies in Nottingham. They matched it to some NOS parts I had which I think are Forest Green. Chris
  24. We always load CVRTs with 4 chains, 2 crossed over on the front towing eyes and 2 on the rear ones. You can see them move down quite a bit on the suspension as you tighten up the chains.
